Went for my 12 week today and baby had stopped growing at 8+4. They are giving me a week to see if things move on their own. Don't know how to feel but so feel guilty

Welcome @ronniemipperton, @Babybrainagain and @Mrslca83. Sorry you find yourselves here. Flowers

@ronniemipperton - have you spoke to EPU since your private scan? I had to go for one (as EPU dismissed my symptoms), the EPU then wouldn’t accept it as evidence of miscarriage - they wanted to do their own. It might be worth speaking to them, arranging a second scan and then chatting through options.

Are you bleeding currently? My advice (and it is personal opinion after four MCs) is to opt for surgical management. Depending on theatre availability and how heavy you are bleeding etc, you may have a wait and could miscarry in between times.

@Mrslca83, feel free to rant - that’s why we’re here. Gosh sounds like you have had an absolutely awful time - not sure the hospital have dealt with you that well either. Have you considered a complaint?

I have had two MCs (out of four) where I have been in severe pain and ended up in hospital with liquid morphine - no one warns you what that is like. My most recent in May was the worst, pain came on so quick and hospital gave me codiene which I had an allergic reaction to then refused to give me anything else worrying I’d have a reaction again. I practically screamed the place down till the morphine arrived!

ronniemipperton · 12/07/2018 22:54

Thank you so much @Michelle0507 and @PineapplePrincess and I’m sorry for your losses. I haven’t spoken to the EPU yet, only discovered the MMC at 6.30pm when it was closed, but I’ll call them first thing tomorrow. Makes sense that they would need to do their own scan. I’m not bleeding at all yet. I’ll definitely go for surgical management if I don’t have to wait too long. I just want this over with as soon as possible. Feel so lost.

PineapplePrincess · 12/07/2018 23:25

@ronniemipperton, whatever you are feeling right now is normal. It’s a rollercoaster of emotions, give yourself some space and be kind to yourself. Don’t rush back to work, if you really don’t want to/need to.

Surgical management is a good clean way to deal with things, particularly if your body isn’t it a hurry to get rid of everything. For some the idea of the anaesthetic is terrifying, others prefer the natural (or assisted) method of passing the pregnancy as it gives a sense of closure. No rights or wrongs, it’s whats best for you and help you heal and move on easier.

ronniemipperton · 13/07/2018 11:21

Thanks @PineapplePrincess. I’m at the EPU now, just had the scan to confirm, waiting to speak to the nurse to agree next steps. They have been really nice and are letting me wait in the quiet room rather than the main waiting room with lots of pregnant women and their kids. Hoping I can get surgical management booked in soon. Emotionally I’m a wreck but having read the entire practical support thread since last night I feel marginally better about that side of things.

Michelle0507 · 13/07/2018 14:13

Good luck.

At my local hospital you never have to wait more than 2/3 days as they have their own theatre list hope it's the same for you.

ronniemipperton · 13/07/2018 15:17

Thanks Michelle0507 - booked in for the surgery on Monday which is a huge weight off my mind.

xJune88 · 14/07/2018 08:15

Just an update I had another scan yesterday after 18 days since removal of mmc. And it's all clear. Never thought I'd be happy to see no proof of a baby. How insane. Has anyone ever had a cyst develop or any clues what it is? I have a cyst on my left ovary? Everyone else going through this crap keep plodding on and we will stick together. Hope everyone is ok xxx

xJune88 · 14/07/2018 08:17

Sending love @ronniemipperton xxx

Michelle0507 · 14/07/2018 16:08

A friend posted on social media yesterday so say she was 13 weeks pregnant but had lost 7 babies in 1.5 years, I was stunned! We have no idea what is happening in people's lifes. I had a good chat with her they haven't managed to find any reason for them but they think it's an issue with her blood clotting, she has a child but he was born very prem as he didn't grow, again poss due to blood clotting.
The only difference this time is she went onto antidepressants no surprise really and took aspirin, I'm debeating aspirin - I know (well assume) none of us are Drs but has anyone tried this? Good & bad, dangerous etc?
I purchased the vitabiotics trying for a baby tablets yesterday, feel like I'm getting desperate.

Sorry for the ramble!

PineapplePrincess · 14/07/2018 19:35

Hey @xJune88, glad the scan has given thee all clear - it’s a bizarre feeling. {{{hugs}}}

I had a cyst recorded in a previous pregnancy on or near the ovary, that they put down to ‘leftovers’ from release of an egg. Apparently it got reabsorbed, so nothing to worry about. Have they given you any reasoning for the cyst?

@Michelle0507 it’s shocking how many people have experienced miscarriage. The number of people who have shared their stories with me when I told of my miscarriage really took me back.

I have heard a lot of people talk about baby aspirin, and it’s one of the recommendation from the consultants letter I have just received. The other things I have heard is folate instead of folic acid (apparently some women struggle to absorb folic acid, therefore they recommend to take it it’s natural state) and bizarrely benadryl, which is suppose to help with any rougue antibodies.

Going to make a doctor appointment Monday and chat through these.

xJune88 · 14/07/2018 20:30

No, no reasoning or monitoring just said because it was under 3cm (2cm) it wouldn't be recorded but she said my ovary was sticking out alot x

Michelle0507 · 15/07/2018 11:35

Thanks @PineapplePrincess. I think I'm going to do the same, as I haven't seen my GP yet.
I bought Pregnacare the other day, it best work at £8! Didn't realise tablets were so big, have issues swallowing the tiniest of tablets! Lol! x

ronniemipperton · 15/07/2018 16:05

Thanks @xJune88 x

Can’t believe how tired I am and I haven’t even lost any blood yet. Can’t get out of bed today, I just feel drained.

ronniemipperton · 16/07/2018 14:21

Was supposed to have my ERPC today but I’ve been waiting since 7.30am and it looks like I’m going to be sent home as they’ve had a couple of emergency cases. Hope it doesn’t get pushed to Wednesday or it’ll definitely go down as my least favourite birthday ever.

PineapplePrincess · 16/07/2018 19:28

Hey @ronniemipperton, how are you holding up?

Hopefully you’ve been done, and the waiting is over. {{{hugs}}

ronniemipperton · 16/07/2018 19:51

Thanks @PineapplePrincess but they did have to send me home unfortunately. Am feeling OK about it - was feeling pretty wobbly but I think that was mainly because I wasn’t able to eat or drink anything until 4pm. Am feeling a bit in limbo but hopeful they’ll be able to get it done tomorrow.

Michelle0507 · 16/07/2018 20:51

@Ronniemipperton so sorry to hear they couldn't do it. It's just awful to think you've waited all day & have to go through it again. Sending you hugs & well wishes. But on the other end I imagine it isn't a decision they like to make!x

ronniemipperton · 16/07/2018 21:13

Thanks @Michelle0507. Yeah, they were really lovely about it and I wouldn’t want to think I was stopping someone who needed it from getting urgent care. Also the waiting wasn’t too bad - I had my own bed and the nurses were very good at checking up on me and keeping me updated. A shame not to be where I thought I’d be at this point but hopefully it will only be one day.

ronniemipperton · 17/07/2018 13:51

All done. Don’t feel too bad, just want to sleep.

Michelle0507 · 17/07/2018 17:45

Glad it went okay. Rest up & take it easy. x

ronniemipperton · 17/07/2018 18:15

Thank you x

In case useful to anyone who finds themselves on this thread I’ve put a (lengthy) post about my experience on the practical tips thread: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/miscarriage/1344311-Tips-for-coping-with-the-practicalities-of-miscarriage?pg=32&order=

(Sorry I don’t know how to make it a live link or link directly to a post while on my phone but it’s on that page somewhere...)

PineapplePrincess · 17/07/2018 23:50

@ronniemipperton {{{gentle hugs}}}

Mrslca83 · 19/07/2018 20:43

So a little update I had a positive pregnancy test again last Friday back at epau on Tuesday and back to surgery yesterday so in total I’ve had 6 lots of medical
Management and 2 vacuum asspirations praying to god that when I take my test in 4 weeks it’s negative.

PineapplePrincess · 20/07/2018 14:23

How are you feeling now @Mrslca83. You’ve had a rotten time of it!

Pampl3m0usse · 24/07/2018 16:21

@ronniemipperton, @Babybrainagain and @Mrslca83 I hope you're all doing OK and at least physically beginning to feel a bit better.
@PineapplePrincess any news from you? Did you test in the end?
@Michelle0507 and @Cleozeta where abouts are you in your cycles? I'm 3dpo... had a scan a couple of days before ovulation to try and find a source of the pre-menstrual pain I've been having post-miscarriage. They couldn't see anything (although I'm not sure that endometrosis is ever visible on a scan anyway?), but there were two follicles ready to erupt on my left ovary and she warned of the chance of twins..... I'm not getting my hopes up, I haven't even had a sniff of a normal cycle since MC let alone anything else.
Got my nose pierced yesterday in an act of middle-aged rebellion (and nearly fainted about three times! embarassing !!).
