Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Yay longest!

I suspect similar with the girl thing, but not sure...

Marchgirl · 13/01/2015 10:41

Yay longest! Brilliant news. So happy to hear all is well

Sunandrainbow · 13/01/2015 10:46

Longest - that is great news!!!

I did wonder about the gender thing too. My Nan had three healthy girls, but a still born boy and my mum and aunt only had girls. Guess the genetic testing will add fuel to my theory or just show I'm wrong!

tannyLoo · 13/01/2015 10:49

Yay longest! Brilliant news! I have wondered if I can't carry girls, I guess it depends what this one is...

Betty lovely to hear from you.

Marchgirl · 13/01/2015 10:58

I've had the same thought about carrying girls. My mum mc first then 2 girls and i had a girl then 3 mc. There is a (rare) genetic condition that favours girls, so I guess we'll see when I get karyotype results

charlieis30 · 13/01/2015 11:04

Woohooo longest!

TinyTear · 13/01/2015 11:09

charlie if you want you can touch my tummy for luck on thursday Grin

bythesea82 · 13/01/2015 11:15

longest great news Grin

Still not much to report here, back on the TTC wagon and just entering the first of the many waits to come! Off snowboarding on Saturday so this should ease the first waiting period!

cloudjumper · 13/01/2015 12:09

Yay longest!

AF has arrived Sad I really need to start putting more 'targeted' effort into ttc again, it really looks as getting pg now requires more focussed action. Sigh.

tannyLoo · 13/01/2015 12:17

Boo, cloud. SMEP works every time with me, but that really is putting your back into it. Maybe you could plan some sort of SMEP lite? I remember you saying that TTC isn't something you enjoy, which I totally understand. Wine until AF goes says the teetotaler...

cloudjumper · 13/01/2015 12:40

tanny I've tried SMEP in the past, but had to give up, as I found it too exhausting - ran out of steam before the crucial days! But you are right, I should probably try a 'lite' version, if I want to get anywhere.
At the moment, I am actually more concerned about getting another UTI, which unfortunately I am very prone to, and which are definitely caused by dtd.

TinyTear · 13/01/2015 12:59

we did it every 2 days until O-day and then more around O-day...

but actually this time on O day DH had work drinks and came home stinking of booze so we didn't on that day Grin

twilightstruggle · 13/01/2015 13:03

Yay yay yay longest. Absolutely thrilled for you Grin.

Sorry af has arrived cloud. Cow bags that she is.

Enjoy snowboarding bythesea. That sounds nicely distracting!

Boozle80 · 13/01/2015 13:06

We tried going at it everyday but OH was rubbish - he was always shattered after work and it ended up causing more agrivation then positive results. I ended up instigating it every other day and not telling him there was a plan at all - he seemed much happier thinking it wasn't contrived... Poor boy, I did put him under a lot of pressure to pet with his sperm...

twilightstruggle · 13/01/2015 13:12

I second smep being too exhausting and therefore go with the approach that timing is more imp than quantity of dtd (what we tell ourselves anyway!). We tend to go for every two days once ewcm appears and then dtd a final time whenever I get a solid smiley (which in reality usually ends up only two-three times). However we do sometimes leave it entirely till the solid smiley tbh. I do find clearblue quite reliable though, and it's very rare that external factors prevent dtd when we need to so I do appreciate its an approach that might not work for some.

twilightstruggle · 13/01/2015 13:14

Also I remember reading ages ago that dtd every day isn't always a good idea as it doesn't give the sperm enough time to build up, particularly where sperm count lower than average. No idea if there's any truth in that though.

bakingtins · 13/01/2015 14:14

Delighted to hear it longest !

bootles sorry your first day back was so tough Sad but hopefully that's all awkward fucking rude and insensitive questions out of the way.

Sorry not to name check everyone, can't keep up.

Flen · 13/01/2015 14:35

Okay, acronym clarification please... TEG and SMEP???!!

Great news longest, hooray!

I'm building up to the consultant appointment on Friday. Doing a stick my fingers in my ears la la la approach to the anxiety. That's emotionally healthy, right?

waves to everyone

Sunandrainbow · 13/01/2015 14:43

TEG??
SMEP - speem meets egg plan! Something like dtd every other day from day 8. Then once you get +ve opk every day for 3 / (or maybe 4?) days, skip a day, then one more for luck! Quite intensive and OH complained a lot by the 3rd / 4th day Grin

Sunandrainbow · 13/01/2015 14:44

.... did seem to get the job done though.

TinyTear · 13/01/2015 14:51

TEG is the coagulation blood test that St Mary's in London does

Flen · 13/01/2015 15:08

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! I see! Thank you kindly sun and tiny

Last ttc we did at least once a day for the five/six days of the "fertile window". It worked, but we were blimmin' knackered! I don't seem to get +ve OPKs, so have to go for quantity rather than quality. If you know what I mean.

barkingtreefrog · 13/01/2015 16:09

Longest great news Grin.

twilight you are correct, every day is not recommended as the sperm needs time to build up or something. But long gaps aren't good either as 'old' sperm will collect. When the bloke provides his sample for iui/ivf they say it should ideally be 3 days since the last 'release' Grin. That's where the every other day thing comes from as well I assume.

Sunandrainbow · 13/01/2015 16:51

Barking - is such a mine field isn't it! Too often and there's not enough and too few times and it's too old! I always think will just go with every other day approach and then get pressured into every day by the clearblue opk smiley faces. Whoever designed that smiley face has clearly never tried to conceive - there are some days where I want to smack the stupid smiling face, mocking me as I got into yet another cycle of ttc!!!!!!

tannyLoo · 13/01/2015 17:38

So it really is my dad's funeral tomorrow. I had a difficult conversation with my mum last night that completely threw me, and now she's not coming (thank god).

I'm okay at the moment, trying to keep busy, and had acupuncture this afternoon which is helping.

A hand hold of a very different sort tomorrow please...
