Information, support, hand holding, tea, sympathy and a hell of a lot of combined knowledge - all welcome as we try to make sense of the RMC roller coaster of tests, NHS admin, heart ache and (hopefully) happy endings!
Please start with a recap of your stats :)

Thank you tiny so glad I seem to be following the protocol on here, glad to know they will prescribe as long as they can see it's in the right place. Sorry to hear about your GD - I think the swearing on here is minimal considering and also very justifiable!

TinyTear · 12/01/2015 09:37

Thanks, I am actually quite calm considering the GD as I had it with DD so know what to expect.
Only have the formal GTT a week today but the endocrinologist i am seeing for the thyroid told me to start monotoring blood sugars and the fasting and breakfast ones are already above recommended levels. Lunch and dinner are fine...

I hope to manage mostly with metformin and not need insulin until later... but if I do, I do...

Monten · 12/01/2015 11:00

Fuck.

Just expressing swearing solidarity with bellende (who has the best name on MN in my opinion. Bell-end is one of my favourite words).

Sorry to hear about the diabetes tiny. Does it make you feel unwell?

Have a lovely meet up on Thursdays, I’m London based too and work not too far from there but have a meeting on Thurs. I think meet ups are lovely ideas.

AF due this weekend. Desperately trying not to symptom spot. Boobs are enormous rocks. Lots of CM. Hungry. But I am all of these things before AF!! Cervix very high but hard. Both times I have been pregnant before cervix was low and soft. But I noticed that after BFP (about 5 days after AF would have been due). Can anyone give me any hope? March was it you posting about the fertility app tracker that gives you your percentage changes of being pregnant? I’m very intrigued by that – I thought nsymptom spotting was not reliable. What is it asking you to track for?

TinyTear · 12/01/2015 11:08

Thanks Monten, i don't really have any symptoms with the diabetes, just the high blood sugar when I test...

Maybe you can join us another day when you don't have a meeting

you know I have no idea where my cervix is, I never really had a rummage! Grin so can't really help you with the symptoms...

barkingtreefrog · 12/01/2015 11:37

ourday dalteparin is what I'll be on next time if I get a bfp - and cyclogest from ovulation. My consultant said it was a milder dose of heparin, less chance of side effects.

I'm really Confused. Started spotting last night, bang on schedule for AF according to last two cycle lengths. I need to phone the clinic on day 1 to book in for a scan to start the iui cycle, but this morning there was no AF, and nothing has arrived since. I'm 12dpo today and my usual luteal phase is 8 days, so I have no idea what is going on. I poas in case of a miraculous natural conception and bfn. Wtf?!?

longestlurkerever · 12/01/2015 11:56

Oh boo tiny, that's a bit rubbish. Glad you're not stressed by it though. A friend of mine had GD and they kept saying how huge her baby was going to be but she has now been born and is big but nothing out of the ordinary and her blood sugars were fine (and I managed to cuddle her and everything, though watching her breathe reminded me how vulnerable tiny babies seem, and I can't see myself stopping worrying even when dc2 is here! Dd nearly strangled herself yesterday, which was extremely scary and is not helping my nerves)

Monten I think the most reliable way is to chart temps as you get a drop before AF but temps should remain high if you're pregnant, but I have never done this. You can also use OPKs as substitute pregnancy tests because similarly your hormone levels remain raised if pregnant, but I have had false positives with this as my hormones are wonky anyway due to PCOS. I think waiting patiently and POAS every couple of hours days are all you can do!

Barking that is a tricky one. I guess I would call your clinic and say you have had spotting but nothing more but I imagine they'll tell you to wait. Or you could follow the steps outlined to Monten above. Were you being careful/abstaining or do you just mean you normally have difficulties conceiving?

Brummiegirl15 · 12/01/2015 12:52

Good luck today Bootles!

It's really really reassuring to hear I'm not the only one struggling with DP. The bleeding has stopped now so I need to try and get the intimacy back with DP. I don't want it to be a big thing.

Due to mc's we were told to avoid DTD until after 12 wk scan so not DTD since I got pregnant back in November and I missed it whilst pregnant and I miss it even more now.

Did a hpt this morning but it was still positive. I knew it would be as only been 8 days since ERPC but I'm waiting to hot foot it down to Worcester for my blood tests.

Will try again Friday.

Would've loved to meet up but I'm in Worcestershire so too far - boo hiss but have acupuncture on Thursday anyway.

Hope everyone is ok today. I feel a bit better today - not great - but not rock bottom either!

Flen · 12/01/2015 13:06

monten I use an app called Glow which I've found pretty useful for tracking my cycles.

barkingtreefrog · 12/01/2015 13:17

Longest been ttc more than 3 years and not managed a natural bfp yet, hence not expecting one. I didn't chart this cycle but my temp doesn't usually drop until a few days into the next cycle so that wouldn't tell me anything at this stage.
I called the clinic and they said to come in for a scan tomorrow. I'm going to feel like an idiot if AF still hasn't arrived though.

longestlurkerever · 12/01/2015 13:18

Were you Brummie? I have never been told that.

Sorry about your hpt. It's the one time you really want a BFN isn't it? Glad you're feeling a bit better though. Baby steps. x

twilightstruggle · 12/01/2015 13:43

Glad to hear you're feeling a bit better brummie. Those residual BFPs are such an added blow aren't they. Getting the intimacy back sounds like a helpful step once you're feeling that way inclined!

Longest -how did DD manage that?! How anxiety provoking and not what you need at all.

Tiny - sorry to hear about the gestational diabetes. I have to admit complete ignorance about what it means but the language used to describe it suggests it's not a good thing! (not judging the language btw - fucking bloody GD). It may have been me who self-censored in an earlier post, I hadn't seen much swearing on here and am conscious of my potty mouth. Well done for not stressing over the GD and I have everything crossed that it doesn't have any ramifications or result in you needing insulin.

I've just been daring and joined the pregnant after mc thread. They have a 'successes' bit in their OP and I wondered if we could do something like that. It's so positive to see that successes do happen.

Sadly can't meet next week. Do we have a fb group? [feeling sociable]

TinyTear · 12/01/2015 14:01

twilight it's basically Diabetes but should disappear after the birth... I have to monitor blood sugars 4 times a day, eventually take medicine or inject insulin. LAst time I manages mostly with tablets but needed insulin in the last week. also have to control diet and be strict with sugar and carbs...

We don't have a FB group but I am friends with Tanny, just and lurker there... if you PM me your name I can add you Grin

Monten · 12/01/2015 14:09

Sorry for the pre-lunch cervix chat ladies. Hope no one was eating their breakfast Grin.

Was it you boozle or broody on the other thread that had a cautionary tale to tell about checking cervix position after chopping chillies? That was v funny.

Thanks for the advice ladies. I'm too scared to temp - think it might make ME insane. If we're not successful this cycle Im thinking of trying clearblue digital monitor. Very spenny though.

I'm sorry about the spotting barking but don't feel silly. Cycles are confusing at the best of times and spotting is common. You won't be the first to have had this happen so hopefully they will be understanding.

twilight I've sworn off Facebook. I'm def up for being more sociable tho - I have a lovely image in my head of a festive meet up at the end of the year when all the pregnant ladies have their babies and us non-bun in the oven ones have either a bump or a tiny newborn. The thought keeps me going.

Monten · 12/01/2015 14:10

Sorry for random ME caps Grin

Marchgirl · 12/01/2015 14:33

Wasn't me talking about the app with percentage of being preg monten, but I have a feeling that's on the fertility friend if you pay for it. I got the app and had a free trial. month with the full version before reverting to the freebie but never got near preg stage so never used that bit.
Tbh I Think that would just make me even crazier than I already am about symptom spotting. I agree it's best to just wait as long as you can and then test. I thought I might have been preg this time as I had spotting on 10dpo which I thought was ib but it obviously wasn't and I was gutted because I'd got my hopes up. Bloody false symptoms

Glad you are feeling a little bit better today brummie x

Brummiegirl15 · 12/01/2015 14:36

lurker I think I was only told that because mc number 1 after the day after we DTD so for pregnancy number 2 specifically asked the midwife and she says as we'd had an mc the day after, to be on safe side it was best to avoid DTD until 12 wk scan.

So we stuck to the advice for pregnancy number 2, and that failed and pregnancy number 3 and that failed....

So I think actually her advice was bollocks and just meant to make me feel better. The one thing I am learning is that you can do everything you are supposed to and it still fails... So basically don't live your life through fear .

When I have my consultant appt I will specifically ask that question and if he says you can, then we will . If he says don't, we won't !

sasha Grin at the idea of af like the nile!

Justonemoretime · 12/01/2015 17:02

Just got back from 16 week appointment. I was so nervous beforehand as I could hear the hb of the lady before me and I was full of panic about whether they'd be able to find mine. But it was fine, heard it within seconds and was at a good healthy rate. Then baby had had enough, kicked the probe twice and then swam away. MW did find it again, but the show was over as far as the baby was concerned and baby was not cooperating anymore. MW was happy with us, though. Next stop 20 wks.

Sorry to hear about the GD, Tiny, although it sounds as though you've got the situation under control.

Barking, hope you get some answers; weird WTF cycles are very frustrating.

Bootles, hope today wasn't too awful?

Sasha, hope this AF re-sets the clock for healthy cycles going forward. Are you trying or waiting for testing?

DH and I didn't dtd for the first 12 weeks, partly because I was mostly asleep and also because of the spotting up to 7 weeks, I was just paranoid. We weren't 'officially' told not to, but it just didn't seem like a good idea. We're back in the saddle now (sorry TMI!) Grin

Hi, it's been a while since I posted here. I had a wobble today. A dr checking my DD made a light chitchat remark about 'having also stopped at 2'. Frankly I could have screamed. Obviously he wouldn't look at my medical records. I am now back to counting my odds out in the weird way I did after mc 1 and mc 2. It's a weird obsession. I hate it.

stickingpoint2 · 12/01/2015 17:36

It is silly. I am ovulating today. But I feel it was some sort of 'warning' from the universe.

girliesaints · 12/01/2015 17:54

Just- another milestone ticked off x

Tiny- that's pants but at least you know what to expect and have it under control

sasha- I got told at my appt last week that it can take upto 6 months for AF to get back to normal with recurrent MC. Not sure if that was good news or not but at least gave me confident my body wasn't totally broken after 2 AFs

Attend the funeral of my BIL's father today who I have known since I was three. Blubbered a lot during the service. Unfortunately more for me but did put my problems into context. Thinking of you Tanny later in the week x

Boozle80 · 12/01/2015 18:55

Fuck, bollocks, arse flaps.

ourdaywillcome1983 · 12/01/2015 19:00

just glad your appointment went well, love that the baby is already showing who's boss.

Does anyone have any advice for me I am having heart stopping anxiety about Wednesday? Any ways of trying to relax? My epu lack sensitivity as I've said before - I am scared they won't give me the prescription if I'm measuring behind. I have called them to try and put my mind at rest but she said "I've no idea, you'd have to ask your consultant". I'm so scared :(

Boozle80 · 12/01/2015 19:01

Nope, it lets me swear again - must have been a blip! I think it was me that checked my cervix alongside chilli... Haven't done that again!
I had the app that gave you a chance of percentage - it didn't really work as I think each month a engineered it to tell me I was...
I must say the doppler is amazing, although health professionals disaprove massively, it's kept my blood pressure down in moments of crazy (most days then!). I'm 15 weeks now and get a hb most days, you can also hear the squidge wiggling around and wierdly the most comforting thing is hearing my placenta working - they think that's what keeps screwing up on me!
I still haven't dared dtd, I never though I'd say this after 4 pregnancies in one year but I actually feel quite up for it but completely terrified at the same time!
