Welcome everyone! A thread for anyone who has suffered recurrent losses and is in need of support, information, moral support or tea and sympathy. Newbies very welcome.

Please can we start (as is traditional) with a recap of where we are on 'the journey'.

No Just, no one!

Hi all,
Please can I join you? Recognise a few names from other threads and feel like I need some hand holding!

So just had mc #3 last night, only started bleeding Sunday eve after a good scan a week previously so it was all pretty quick (and painful). Don't think it's really sunk in yet but hoping testing brings some answers.

So history is
I am 32, DH 31 TTC # 1 since dec 2012. MC 1 @ 7+5 Nov 13, MC 2 @ 10+6 Mar 14, MC 3 @ 10+3 Sep 14
All natural miscarriages.

Based just outside Brighton and due to have bloods taken in about 8 weeks time.
Right, will go back over the thread Smile

Justonemoretime · 24/09/2014 21:29

Oh, bythesea, I'm so sorry. Welcome, we'll look after you. ((hugs))

Bobsmum1 · 24/09/2014 22:10

Hi all,
New ish to the thread (i was on here a little bit back in Jan, but found myself spending too much time dwelling on all the heartache, so apologies for my absence).

Me:
Missed mc 1, 8 wks, Jul 2010
DD Jan 2012
Mc 2, 5 wks, Aug 2012
Missed mc 3, 12 wks, Jul 2013
Mc 4, 5, 6, all 5-6 wks, Sept - March 2014
Hypothyroid diagnosed March 2013.
Diagnosed sticky blood by local consultant Oct 2013, given aspirin, didn't help.
Diagnosed peri-menopausal by local consultant May 2014 (he told me to go and 'buy some younger eggs')
Finally got myself down to St Marys and just had results from first lot of tests: abnormal TEG showing clotting deficiency (so blood not sticky enough), and MTHFR c667t heterozygous positive.
(Not menopausal. Phew!)
Anyone else out there with experience of inadequate clotting and mthfr??

Am starting to feel like giving up, it just doesn't seem to be meant to be. ??

Sorry for your losses bythesea big hugs.

girliesaints · 25/09/2014 06:25

Morning-There's an interesting article on Daily Mail about recurring MCs. Can't share the link from my phone but worth having a look.

TinyTear · 25/09/2014 06:50

Hmm curiosity versus the daily fail... Will see if news made other media.

I think the promise trial results will be published soon.

cloudjumper · 25/09/2014 09:09

So I decided to ignore the 'low' readings on the Cbfm and just go with OPKs (albeit very weak, but I never get strong lines anyway) - and today (CD16), it suddenly gives me a 'high', wtf?! By temp and OPKs, I ovulated on CD13 (Monday)... Really confused now. And I only have one stick left for the monitor, going away for a long weekend tomorrow, so no time to get more. Argh! Angry

I would really take anything that the Daily Mail writes with a huge grain of salt, tbh. Like tiny said, it's propbably better to see if it's published somewhere else. Is the Promise trial the one with progesterone in early pregnancy? Can't remember..

Off to Switzerland tomorrow to visit my mum - she was meant to be on holiday this week for her 70th birthday, but the flight was cancelled, so I'm taking DS to go and see her to cheer her up. On my own, flying with a very active 3-year-old, could be interesting...

TinyTear · 25/09/2014 09:56

cloud good luck! Haven't flown on my own with DD, always with backup Grin hope you seat near some sympathetic people...

OK, i went and read the DM
Typical article of people who had 15, 20 mcs and then had a baby, we all like success stories... but i wonder why they didn't look for help after 3. that is indeed the main thing for me as they should have had support earlier and that is the news in my opinion, why si there not more support for us after 3 mcs... and we have to do all the hard work and read and research and fight our corner

Bristolian1 · 25/09/2014 10:00

Hi bythesea and bobsmum, sorry for your lossesFlowers

cloud good luck with that flight! I agree about the daily fail! Interesting concept in the article though.

The promise trial is a study looking at progesterone administration in early pregnancy, the website says the results will be out next month.

Thanks for the hugs girlie I decided to solve my bad mood with half a bottle of red and some good company! So today I'm feeling better but also a little hungover Blush

tannyLoo · 25/09/2014 10:01

The fail article reads like an ad for Mr Shehata. Still, interesting despite that...

tannyLoo · 25/09/2014 10:04

Bythesea glad you came over.

Tiny, agreed! Imagine going for that long without support! I don't think that's the whole story though, I'm sure there's been some selection there...

bakingtins · 25/09/2014 10:26

Welcome ron bythesea and bob so many newbies at the moment. Sad for all that you've been through but hope you'll find the thread, and the process of trying to find answers, therapeutic.

Hi all, and welcome to the new folk. Sorry that you find yourself here.
Sorry I can't keep up with the speed of this thread.

Interested to read about the various vitamin options. I'm taking a basic sanatogen ttc multivit (but it's so much smaller than the others I think maybe it's not as good??!!) plus a slightly random addition of extra folic, Co-Q10 and omega 3.

DH has just been diagnosed with a low number of normal forms in his jizz test - i.e. poor morphology. Apparently this is slightly associated with recurrent mc and low fertility. Anyone know anything about this? I suspect it isn't really what's going on with us tbh. Anyway, getting some super vits for him too as that can sometimes make a difference apparently. I've been recommended MenEVit, Fertilaid and Wellman for the guys. Apparently zinc is very important.

I'm feeling low today as stressed about studying and other family stuff. Which also means I'm being a bit of a bitch to DH and not feeling in the mood for dtd at all, so we managed it a grand total of once this month Blush. Tick tock tick tock adding to the whole stress of it all.

Tryingno1 · 25/09/2014 13:42

Hi guys

I used to be on here a little while ago but then went into a phase of denial! So dissapeared! But ready to be back if u guys would have me? :)
If u don't rem-I'm 30. had 3 miscarriages last one was may 2014.convential tests all normal.

Went to see me shehata and have high nk cells so waiting to get pregnant again so can start steriods amongst other things...I've just finished cycle 2 and no luck! Agh! Getting preg is hurdle number one.

Really exciting to see we have some good news on here :) I rem tanny and tiny u were both ttc when I was last on the board!

Hello to all others
X

bakingtins · 25/09/2014 13:52

Hi trying nice to hear from you! Good luck with the TTC.

bob AFAIK if you are heterozygous MTHFR then you shouldn't have a problem, unless DH also is? Are they offering you high dose folic acid? I was told to take 5mg a day when TTC and for first trimester (as a 'might help' without having had MTHFR tested) The clotting thing sounds confusing - so you have been diagnosed with sticky blood and inadequate clotting response on two different tests? What was the test the first doctor did? TBH if anyone has been diagnosed with clotting problems on the thread then they've been prescribed heparin as well as/instead of aspirin. Hope St Mary's can give you more clarity and suggest a plan. It's very hard to decide when to call it a day - there are so many stories of women succeeding after many losses, but on the other hand it's so tough going through it repeatedly. We had several 'one last tries', somehow you find the strength to keep going. I hope St Mary's can give you an accurate assessment of your chances anyway, that should help you make a decision.

Thanks baking! Hope faith is doing well! It's amazing ur still on here giving people ur advice :) how lovely!

Bobsmum1 · 25/09/2014 17:47

Hey bakingtins, thanks for the reply.
I had the two anti phospholipid blood tests last summer. They showed consistently high Ig(m) but negative for lupus = sticky blood. So was prescribed aspirin from bfp, which didn't help and made me significantly more bleedy.
Now at St Marys the TEG shows a haemophilia type disorder, low (and/or faulty) fibrinogen. Basically i form clots but they fall apart almost immediately. Aspirin is a big no-no with this.
St Marys repeated the apl tests, and so far they are all normal.
I'm getting ahead of myself as i haven't yet had the follow up appointment at st marys to discuss the tests, i've just had the results and consulted good old dr google. I can't tell from my research whether i would be treated with heparin, and heparin seems to have helped so many people, i feel (irrationally) like if heparin is out then game over!
I know its silly, and so much of this is just my mind racing ahead of the actual medical advice, i just need to take a chill pill and wait.
Sorry for the epic post.

Justonemoretime · 25/09/2014 21:35

Read the 'Fail article; interesting but nothing new, really. Glad those ladies got their babies, but they sound so different to my pattern of loss which have all been after hb seen. I also had a heart shaped uterus, but was told that that wouldn't have been a cause. I have had it corrected, all the same.

Hope everyone is doing OK this evening? x

tannyLoo · 26/09/2014 08:11

The fear is bad this morning. MW appt in a bit, but DH is away, so don't know what I'll do if anything is wrong.

TinyTear · 26/09/2014 08:25

How many weeks Tanny? 16? 17?

Hope you will be ok... Feel free to bombard us with your worry, we can try and help (sneaking in from work)

tannyLoo · 26/09/2014 08:56

17+3 today.. I know it is less likely, but I still know of so many people who've had late losses. And it is getting easier, honest.

TinyTear · 26/09/2014 09:01

Oh I know it's tough... at my 17w midwife app with my DD the midwife couldn't find the hb and went into a panic. I rushed to the EPU for an emergency scan and there she was sleeping towards the back with an anterior placenta, so hard to find it...

panic never ends!

tannyLoo · 26/09/2014 10:09

Saw my favourite MW, who was lovely and understanding while I sobbed my relief at hearing the heartbeat. She says I can pop in any time I get worried and need to hear it. Was so lovely to be understood by someone IRL.

Sorry, I hope it isn't too much. Thanks

TinyTear · 26/09/2014 10:13

hooray for lovely midwives!

Bristolian1 · 26/09/2014 10:26

Great news tanny! Must be amazing to hear that little heartbeat xx
