Welcome everyone - pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of information, moral support, tea or sympathy. Newbies very welcome.

Can we start the thread with a recap of where we are all up to again, please?

Hey choccy sorry to hear about your recent mc.

There are quite a few of us who've been up to Coventry for nk cell testing (me included), and had similar experiences and conversations.

I am "super-fertile" so accept everything, only to reject it again later, and have had 5 MCs before 6 weeks. I took an enforced break from TTC after my last mc in Feb as I was physically and emotionally exhausted, and saw Prof B last month.

He described a similar protocol, with progesterone from day 19 (I have a short cycle) and heparin and predistone once pg confirmed in the right place. I had the biopsy and am hoping to get the results early next week.

In the meantime, the effects of the "scratch" from the biopsy are meant to help with the reset too.

So, here I am, with a positive pg test yesterday, and possibly my final attempt. It is scary, but I feel like I've exhausted all the tests I'm comfortable with.

The biopsy is £360, you're right. I whacked it on a credit card Blush

Personally, (and it is entirely personal, so feel free to ignore me) I would start using protection in case you haven't caught yet. Give your body and mind a rest for a couple of months and explore nk cell testing, and then you can make an informed choice about where to go from here.

Women have been successful, even after as many MCs as us, so holding onto hope is a good thing.

Choccywoccydodah · 28/06/2014 08:45

Tanny you're my double! I'm catching every month we try and then ending around 5+ weeks. Number 5 we saw the sac and yolk while bleeding, then last one I got further by a few days but I didn't have a scan, so at least I'm getting further.

We plan to use protection from now on. We had February off after number 3 so have got stock left ;)

It's such a long road isn't it. Worth it in the long run I know. Tbh I am looking forward to a break as such. My life seems to have been MC, ovulate, sex, tww, test, mc, ov, sex, tww, mc for months and I'm drained like you tbh.

I'm so so chuffed you've got another bfp! I shall whisper congratulations :)
I know you'll be totally on edge now. Have you been prescribed drugs to take now?
Hope this is it for you and no more heartbreak for you.

tannyLoo · 28/06/2014 08:59

I think there does seem to be a real pattern for women like us, and Pro B definitely seems to be the most on the ball with it all...

I've done loads of things with my mid-life crisis time off and do feel more in control.

If this one does work out, then I'll know that part of the reason is because of the advice and support here, so thanks for that!

tannyLoo · 28/06/2014 09:01

Oh, yes, I've been using cyclogest for the past few days. Makes me feel really sick, but it's a means to an end...

tannyLoo · 28/06/2014 09:04

Just hope you're somewhere nice.

Thanks, and I really hope not. What are your plans? Does Prof Q want to see you again?

bakingtins · 28/06/2014 09:09

My NK cells were 16% (normal is

Baking did you have many mcs before the testing? Sorry, I've read so many threads I can't keep up with when people have had tests etc!
Hope little Faith is being a good little bubba :)

cocomom25 · 28/06/2014 10:48

Ladies I've been wrecking my head trying to think if anything stuck out from my 1st pregnancy ds. The only thing I remember is that I was stubborn and took Advil the entire pregnancy. I know that may sound crazy but I was so sick and it was free at my job..... I may have been taking it even before I conceived. I remember when I stopped taking it and started developing signs of preeclampsia not long after. (I wish I had been a wiser to keep notes) Do you ladies have any thoughts on that? its not aspirin.... 'O' day is coming and I'm desperate.

bakingtins · 28/06/2014 12:07

Four altogether, choccy
DS1 (completely normal pregnancy), Mc1, DS2 (dodgy pregnancy with bleeding) MC 2 and 3, NHS testing normal, MC4 which was chromosomally normal, NK testing + treatment, successful pregnancy baby Faith Smile

coco Advil = ibuprofen? It's not recommended in pregnancy in the UK, certainly wouldn't take it 'just in case' it was doing something. NHS take on the subject

Thanks Baking. Product safely delivered to epu. Made me wait ages even though there was no one else there but spoke to Dr who confirmed it was the sac and scanned me, which showed bleeding is subsiding already and so I don't need to go in for follow-up scan.

Have to get gp to refer me to gynaecology so will try to speak to them on Monday. Would prefer to go into work though so will see if I can get referral over the phone- or will I need blood tests etc?

Feel physically much better since passing the sac- cramps stopped immediately. Told my mum whole sorry tale so that's also a job done.

Dd currently having lunch next door. She's probably outstayed her welcome now so will go and fetch her in 5 mins. Just wanted to say thanks again. Warm wishes to newcomers/returners.

Justonemoretime · 28/06/2014 16:40

Waves everyone. I'm away at an A level philosophy training course. Its really interesting :) I'm 'due' on Tues or weds, but I got a bfn yesterday with a v sensitive test. Thought there was an evap line, but nothing more. No symptoms at all. I'm off the progesterone now for 3 months (this is month 1) before prof B will review again. Dh in USA when I'm due to ov next... :( its all a bit depressing. I'm ok in myself, having a good time etc, but I feel like its never going to happen at this rate! Maybe I was hyper fertile and now I'm normally selective, but my eggs are all duds...
Hope everyone else is doing ok? X

longestlurkerever · 28/06/2014 22:52

Feeling a lot more tearful this evening. Suppose it is the hormone crash, or everything suddenly feeling more real, or both. Have also exhausted all my research etc for now, so feel like I'm just in limbo again like when ttc, but with much worse prospects of getting out of it any time soon. Night night everyone.

cocomom25 · 29/06/2014 07:12

Night longest hope tomorrows better than today.... hugs hun

Hello ladies hoping your enjoying your weekend.

Baking I was young and foolish at that time. I didn't know the effects of advil just that I shouldn't take it. I have no intention of taking it by any means. Was wondering if it may have had blood thinning properties. Just blowing smoke. Hope your getting your fill of baby faith.

longestlurkerever · 29/06/2014 14:09

The thing is most women taking aspirin are probably high risk for miscarriage anyway so hard to know if it's a causal link. I guess they will do more studies but the UK press are notoriously bad at reporting scientific studies accurately so I wouldn't panic if you have taken aspirin. Just talk to your doctor about whether you should continue.

cocomom25 · 29/06/2014 14:42

Cat thanks for the article. It sounds like a cry for founding in my opinion, but I am cautioned.

I have a question is there a particular cycle day to have testing for blood clotting disorders? I think I will take the cost OOP as a birthday gift, I really don't want anything in particular this year.

cocomom25 · 29/06/2014 14:51

Just sorry you have to sit out next month. I totally understand the thought super to infertile. I'm sure that's not the case but we want our baby now! This was cycle number 3 with out a bfp vs bfp 2 out of 3 cycles earlier this year.

Catlover2014 · 29/06/2014 15:28

longest, I had wondered who the test group was and agree media are terrible for simplifying very complex issues.

Case in point 'designer babies' being the next big thing when in truth normal IVF only has 30% success rates anyway.

I'm seeing my consultant on the 9th so will ask him again about aspirin but he's great and I know he would tell me if he felt it was risky.

Catlover2014 · 29/06/2014 15:31

coco I have wondered before when is best to test for blood clotting but honestly don't know. I'd ask my consultant but he'll probably just shake his head and tell me to stop sweating the small stuff haha!

Justonemoretime · 29/06/2014 19:34

Thanks for sharing the article, Longest, I've heard this before, from prof Brosens. Basically aspirin can help for some specific conditions (clotting), but may increase risk for women without that specific problem. That may mean that the 'just in case' prescription could be risky.
Much more research is needed, though.

TinyTear · 29/06/2014 20:49

I was told my Mr Rai I shouldn't take aspirin.
As I am still breastfeeding I can't anyway...

Catlover2014 · 29/06/2014 22:06

Thanks for sharing info all.

I don't have a bab on board at the moment but start fertility treatment again next month and if I get my BFP I have been told to take aspirin this time.

Even though my mc test results are all clear. Totally not sure this is wise but I suppose I just have to trust the consultant? After five years of seeing people he's the first doctor who has enabled me to conceive.

Justonemoretime · 30/06/2014 06:08

Sorry, Catlover, I meant to thank you for the article. Its a difficult one. What type of fertility treatment are you having? Ivf? Where is your consultant based? Getting pg and staying pg are very different things. Are you about to afford a visit to prof Quenby for a second opinion? Its so frustrating that they don't all agree. Basically, I was told to avoid it, but 'if I must' only take it after 12 weeks. Good luck with it all. When does your treatment begin? X
