Welcome everyone, pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of company, information, moral support, tea or sympathy.

Can I suggest we start page 1 with a recap of where we are all up to, because my fuddled head can't keep track?

Hi fedup, totally agree with bakingtins.
Because i had 1st mc followed by dd, i had trouble getting gp to do anything after 2nd or 3rd mc (5 weeks and 12 weeks, but embryo never gets past 5.5 weeks). I felt like banging my head against a brick wall. Its just like 'well you've had one baby so stop making a fuss'.

So paid to see consultant privately, who had specialism in recurrent mc. So he has been really helpful by writing to gp and instructing tests on the nhs. Now we've had 4th and 5th mc, gp is slightly more helpful but to be honest only slightly. I'd get to a specialist as soon as you can - whether fertility or rmc, if its not the right one they should steer you in the right direction. Best of luck. X

Thanks ladies. Been feeling v shitty today and now just had a go at my sister (on her birthday) for not understanding as she has 3 kids. Oh dear :(

Also can anyone recommend a good private person to see localish to SW London and Surrey Thanks!

Bobsmum1 · 09/01/2014 08:41

Big hugs fedup
We're not in same area, but you could do worse than just asking gp.

nearlyreadytopop · 09/01/2014 10:05

fedup sorry you are feeling downSad . I think we have all been there and given off to someone for just not getting it. Hopefully your sister will understand just how hard it is.

If you don't get a recommendation for a specialist here I found the fertility friends local forums good for finding out who would be good to see.

DownstairsMixUp · 09/01/2014 12:02

squiz STEP AWAY FROM THE TISSUE!! Grin I keep having odd tummy related pains when I need a poo, but then sorry if tmi, i've been needing a poo more lately and my diet is no different?! PG symptoms maybe?

Thanks fpr fedup I'm sure your sister won't take it to heart, I often have snapped at my brother and felt bad about it.

bobsmum just keep pushing them and annoying them! That's what I did as i got fed up of being fobbed off cos i had one healthy ds but two m/c since!

I finally got my appointment, 23rd of january, should be 8 weeks going by LMP. Shitting myself!

squizita · 09/01/2014 12:39

Downstairs gave DH hilarious bog roll purchasing instructions this morning e.g. not recycled or scented, remember when red dots gave me a funny turn, not pink... never pink, preferably white or blue. Yellow at a push. Grin I cannot even type the date of my RMC scan. In case I jinx it. I think that might be why I'm acting funny today, my mum guessed and we had a euphemistic conversation along the lines of "are you taking those injections, how are they?" etc' without ever using the P word so I didn't freak out. Now I think I've been overtelling and jinxed everything. ha!

DownstairsMixUp · 09/01/2014 12:46

squiz i had a similar experience with the patterned andrex box roll that's for sale at the moment. There's one with pink spots all over it, what a stupid idea to get that one! I know what you mean about jinxing, I've only said on here my date and obviously DP, too scared to tell anyone else!

butterfly86 · 09/01/2014 13:01

fedup I went private after 2mc because I was getting nowhere with the nhs and I wanted to speak to somebody about it, it cost us £180 for the consultation but she was so lovely she arranged all the tests on the nhs and transferred me to her nhs clinic so it only cost us that initial fee it's definately worth thinking about.
squiz my cm ranges from clear to creamy and lately had a bit of light green I went to the docs and she said it's totally normal if it's light coloured, I still knicker check about a thousand times a day I'll have no skin left on my fan shortly from all the wiping Grin

I've got totally different worries today my mam has been called back following her mammogram so is having further testing today just praying she is ok.

squizita · 09/01/2014 14:10

Butterfly I do hope your mum is OK. Most call-backs are routine and benign, thankfully and just checking. FX.

Thanks for the CM advice. Grin My DH said "you'll end up chafing down there" LOL! It's just kind of creamy-clear today.

fedupofrainydays · 09/01/2014 17:05

Thank you so much for the advice ladies. Next week is my goal to hunt down and book a private appointment.

butterfly I hope you mum is ok, sounds a bit scary.

squiz ha ha re tissue - I had the same thing when I used a look that how dare it had pink loo roll.

fedupofrainydays · 09/01/2014 17:05

*loo not look

LateBloomer414 · 09/01/2014 17:27

Butterfly, fx for your mom. As has been said, callbacks are fairly routine but I know how anxiety inducing it can be.

Hope you are finding answers Fedup, or at least the beginnings of a plan. In in C London so won't be to helpful but I'm doing MC stuff at St Mary's and planning IVF at UCL.

Update from my knickers: It seems we have the start of AF today. Or at least I think we do. Bleeding is heavier but still bright bright red... Like actual bleeding vs shedding of the lining. Did not POAS today but may do tomorrow if the flow continues like this. I will be somewhat relieved if it is AF as it means I'm not at the start of another MC and we can try again in less than 2 wks. Sigh.

Notgivingup1 · 09/01/2014 20:45

late sorry to hear AF has arrived. Hate her these days!
fedup I am sorry you are having a crap time, it's so hard when it feels no one will help. You do have to be very pushy and just go on about it. It's quite likely that your GP won't do anything - mainly I think they don't know what to do. More recently mine has said that she would do some tests if a gynie recommended them (these would be basic hormone tests to see what's going on with my weird cycles) I went to see Mr Raj Rai at St Mary's privately - just because I didn't want to wait for the NHS to help. I am now a patient at the RMC under the NHS anyway. The private tests and consults weren't cheap and I would definitely check if your GP would do some of them. I really liked Raj Rai - he is a specialist in Miscarriage but I don't know if Paddington is too far for you? Can you see another GP at your surgery who may be more helpful?
butterfly hope your Mum is ok and you get some reassuring news soon.

squizita · 09/01/2014 21:22

As Not says Raj Rai is very good indeed. I see him and Mr Aziz on the NHS (who is also great).

squizita · 09/01/2014 21:49

late AF sympathy! :( Well at least as you say, 2 weeks and you can try again.

butterfly86 · 09/01/2014 22:09

Thank you ladies the initial biopsy results are clear and it looks like scar tissue from previous surgery, we still have to wait for the full results but the doctor said they will most likely be clear thank god.

Late sorry af seems to have arrived the cowbag :(

Sal1977 · 10/01/2014 00:11

Evening all! Have been a lurker for a while after 4 MC and 0DC.

My RMC consultant has recommended aspirin and heparin whilst TTC and I was wondering if anyone else had this? All tests were normal (apart from pretty low morphology at 4%) and originally she said I'd be offered it at 6 weeks PG after a scan but then changed her mind as 3 of the four MC have been before 6weeks.

If anyone has any experience of this, it would be great to hear about it? Xx

tannyLoo · 10/01/2014 07:16

Hi Sal, welcome along. This thread is really knowledgeable and there are a few currently on heparin treatment.

From what I've read here, I think your consultant has suggested something unusual, as most seem to be prescribed heparin as soon as they get a possi test.

Hope you get the answers you are looking for!

squizita · 10/01/2014 08:43

Hi Sal - St Mary's have a kind of middle ground with me: aspirin and heparin from positive test (as it won't be doing anything before I'm pregnant injecting for several months won't harm but is a literal pain!) - they never suggested 6 weeks because with my condition weeks 0-6 are risky! Heparin isn't too bad once you get the knack.

Bobsmum1 · 10/01/2014 09:35

Hi sal, sorry you find yourself here. i'm on aspirin from positive test only. You said all tests were normal, but has your consultant diagnosed a clotting issue?
Like squiz my clotting issues mean my pgs never get past 6weeks (i think this is classic for a clotting problem, as its at 5-6 weeks the placenta starts to form, and the clots cause problems), so aspirin after 6 weeks would be too late for me. X

DownstairsMixUp · 10/01/2014 10:25

Late Sorry to hear AF got you Thanks

Welcome Sal and sorry to see you hear, you'll get lots of good advice on this thread Smile

Really annoyed at the moment!! Stupid doctor knows my past and how anxious i am, well the silly git referred me to gynae, so i went on NHS choose and book, booked an appointment for 23rd of january, had a phone call to say, that place doesn't offer them services and he did it wrong and was meant to refer me directly to the obsetrics at my local hospital! so now more waiting!! so anxious as it is arrghh!

nearlyreadytopop · 10/01/2014 11:06

downstairs thats rubbish. Can you phone epu yourself? In the past ive always found them to be very helpful.

I have just spent a fortune on vitamins, vit d spray and dha tablets, my sensible side is telling me pregnacare would be absolutely fine but the part thats terrified thinks these Zita West ones will work some sort of protective magicHmm

Hi sal sorry you are here. Hopefully you will get some answers.

DownstairsMixUp · 10/01/2014 11:16

nearly my local epu is lovely, but, they never answer the bloody phone! They are always busy granted, as two of the other maternity units here have recently closed but I don't think I've ever spoke to anyone on the phone. I usually have ended up going down there and waiting (and I've got work today) Also he didn't listen to me either as he has referred me to a hospital I didn't want! I've had no bleeding or anything but after a few m/c's you are just incredibly anxious. I keep wondering if i've mmc'd like last time. Really need to relax!

squizita · 10/01/2014 11:22

Sal excuse my ignorance, what's "low morphology" and what's normal? My own testing history is a bit limited as my local clinic is St Mary's, and I had exactly what they thought I had and tested me for first (they could rule out some others based on TTC/conception, ultrasound and that I'd had a partial molar which makes it most likely any genetic losses are random bad luck). Apparently I'm one of the more run-of-the-mill cases for their unit (guess I should be grateful).l Hence I think I got off lightly on number of tests.

Downstairs Grrr doctors/receptions messing up referrals do my head in! Angry Sorry to hear it's causing you anxiety. Glad they rang and told you/sorted it though.
I have a sneaking suspicion mine sent ALL my referral docs for EPU and Ante-Natal (which they insisted on doing right away, even though it's totally belt-and-braced as I have to go through St Mary's RMC/EPU first ANYWAY) straight to the RMC because that's the fax number they saw on all my St Mary's paperwork. My doc is good at doctoring but when she gets the admin stuff up on the computer ... pffft. And reception had to ring me to spell Yash (RMC clinic admin's) name!!! Professional much?

Nearly I am equally superstitious about my vitamins. For me they must be vitabiotics £10 pregnacare plus Boots Vit B complex plus H&B vit D. No other brands will do! Grin Yep, it's like they're magic.

Got my first massive wave of nausea this morning, really intense for about an hour upon waking, one 'gonna puke' moment then it reduced. Morning-only-morning-sickness ... guess that's why it got its name! Perhaps the magic vitamins are working. Also getting loadsa CM ... and CM = knicker checking! Also, everything stinks today, which I understand from other (highly fecund) family members is a 'thing' in our family at such times.
