Welcome everyone, pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of company, information, moral support, tea or sympathy.

Can I suggest we start page 1 with a recap of where we are all up to, because my fuddled head can't keep track?

Purplefrogshoe · 18/12/2013 15:57

Yeah I'm pleased that they are going to test as I don't think I could just jump in and TTC again but was just a bit Xmas Confused about the age thing as first mc was when I was 31

Justonemoretime · 18/12/2013 17:03

Wonderful news, Baking, so pleased for you!

Purple take whatever you can get testing-wise. Good luck with it all. Do you know where your tests will be carried out?

Waves to everyone else!

Iworrymyselftosleep · 18/12/2013 17:20

Notgivingup1 · 18/12/2013 21:45

And yes purple I am also just turning 37 and I was told that my age was not an issue and in my favour as I was 'young'. Did make me happy at the time!

butterfly86 · 18/12/2013 23:02

Baking Amazing news so happy for you :)

Waves to everyone else :)

I'm 37 and no-one had ever really mentioned my age except to tell me not to worry too much about it. I suppose that it does start to make a bit of a difference, but it doesn't seem to be raising any alarm bells, and Prof Regan didn't mention it at all. My aunt had a perfectly healthy baby at 42, so there is good precedent in my family... The only doctor who had really ever said anything about it said "look, I'd be worried if you were 47. For now, don't worry about it."

Waves to all. Day 10 DPO.... just want an answer one way or another! Nothing yet, but it's early days....

tannyLoo · 19/12/2013 08:35

Scan day for me today.

Just a checkup to make sure everything is clear. Poas this morning which is neg, so good start. I think I have a cyst on my ovary, like last ov, don't know why l'm suddenly getting them.

Hate going to epac. Sad

TinyTear · 19/12/2013 08:40

Hello to all, just a quick one from me. Baking just saw your great news- thrilled for you! AF arrived earlier this week so my phantom pg symptoms were just that. I'm ok- being home with my family and seeing all of my friends has been a wonderful distraction- helped me barely think of my due date for MC2 earlier this week.

Surrounded by happy pg women waiting for 20 week scans. Ffs.

TinyTear · 19/12/2013 15:13

oh no Tanny

At least in my hospital the EPU is completely separate

although on the same floor as the labour wards so you get the heavily about to pop women and the new fresh babies going home on the lifts...

DownstairsMixUp · 19/12/2013 18:05

Flowers for tanny Mine was the same. When i went to the scan to confirm the blighted ovum i was surrounded by flat screens with videos about precious newborns and mums with their bumps. Was horrible. A very unmumsnetty hug for you here. X

I am 4dpo today. Tbh, i really don't feel this is the month. i usually have a "feeling" it has happened (i did with DS and last mc) but nothing this time. Having a shit time at work. Being picked on and having to go to the union to get it sorted. Pahhhh. GIVE ME GIN!

fedupofrainydays · 19/12/2013 20:12

Hey. Can I join please? I've had 'only' two mc but feeling pretty rubbish and hopeless at the mo.

History:
1 DS (oct 2011), 1 mmc and ERPC at 11.5 weeks (feb 2013), 1 mc at 5.5 wks (dec 2013)

Tests: only day 21 and scan

What's next: thinking of going private for one help as not sure i can 'wait for 3'. Will ttc anyway when stop bleeding it took 10 months after last mc to conceive...

Any recommendations for 'what's next?'
Is baby aspirin something that I could just take anyway that doesn't have any side effects?

DownstairsMixUp · 19/12/2013 20:19

Welcome fedup i've also had only two but feeling a bit pants. Hopefully some others will have some good advice!

Bakingtins · 19/12/2013 22:37

tanny hope you are ok. Doesn't help when the hospital set up is so insensitive.

Welcome fedup It's v tough to deal with a second MC. Difficult to swallow the 'bad luck' spiel, but nobody takes you v seriously in terms of looking for a cause.
St Mary's and Profs Quenby and Brosens advise against aspirin unless you have a diagnosed clotting disorder, in which case you need heparin as well anyway. It can interfere with implantation. Still plenty of doctors out there advising it though.
If you go back a few pages on the thread there was a YouTube link for a documentary that is well worth watching about RMC testing. I'd also recommend Mary Regan's book 'what every woman needs to know about miscarriage' as a good starting point.

Hey fedup nice to see you here. Glad you found us!

My scan was ok, eventually, with no retained products, ovaries clear and endometrium was 7.7mm, which they said was normal for mid cycle.

I'm seeing the rmc consultant on 13 Jan, so that doesn't feel too long away.

All in all, just phew...

It was only after talking things through with the nurse that I realised how tense I still was and how much I needed the reassurance.

Notgivingup1 · 19/12/2013 22:52

Loved that clip baking. Very interesting indeed and so true. How many times have I been told 'at least you can get pregnant'. I know people just don't know what to say but seriously?! That's why I am so pleased I've found you all Smile

Bakingtins · 19/12/2013 23:00

The link for the documentary is on page 4..... We're a chatty lot Blush

Notgivingup1 · 19/12/2013 23:03

tanny good to hear your scan was ok, must be reassuring as you say as it's so easy to start assuming the worse. Hello fedup really sorry that you've had another mc. I had some general tests done after my second but nothing came up - it was for genetic clotting disorders / infections. I found the book that Baking has suggested really good to understand the possible causes.

butterfly86 · 20/12/2013 07:48

Feeling very nervous about my scan this morning and dh boss won't give him the time off so my dad is coming with me instead.
