Welcome everyone, pull up a chair! A thread for anyone who has suffered multiple miscarriages and is in need of company, information, moral support, tea or sympathy.

Can I suggest we start page 1 with a recap of where we are all up to, because my fuddled head can't keep track?

Wonderful news Baking! Hope you can begin to relax a bit.
Tanny, hope Satudays test give you the confirmation you need.
Welcome Mabel and Katie- we are a fun bunch despite our rather depressing common problemSmile
Waves to everyone, just a quick flyby from me !

Bakingtins · 22/11/2013 07:26

Hi tanny I hope you are just too early. I was told 5 weeks was the earliest they'd expect to see anything, so if you are a day or 2 out might not be possible. Hope Saturday brings a doubling of levels and a sac in the right place.

Tanny hopefully you are just earlier than you thought, I went for my first scan when I thought I was almost 7 weeks I'd got my dates slightly wrong as I dont have a 28 day cycle so that put me at 6 weeks 1 day, when they scanned me everything measured 5 weeks 1 day they said that's fine as I ovulate late in my cycle so had I gone when I thought I was 5 weeks there would have been nothing to see. things change so much in a few days in early pregnancy I hope you get good news on saturday.

TinyTear · 22/11/2013 08:18

Great news baking

tanny I hope it's early and the levels double.

Not feeling so positive today. My symptoms are doing what they do when I MC. Gradually fading away. Still have some waves of nausea, but nothing like it was, I'm sleeping better and have more energy. This is when my symptoms should be picking up a gear, not going.

I know everything could still be ok, but this doesn't feel like just a blip, but a full stop.

On the main PG thread everyone is being all "oh my sickness is really getting me down..." and I am so bloody jealous of them and their healthy pgs. What I wouldn't give...

I'm at work and trying to keep going. I have to. But luckily I'm in an empty office so can have a good cry. Sad

Bakingtins · 22/11/2013 13:34

Sending you ((HUGS)) tanny wish we could give you a real one. I can't abide the normal pregnancy threads, though I do post on the preg after MC one. You never get the innocence back that assumes discussing prams and broadcasting your good news at 6 weeks is a good idea. Will you get the results of tomorrow's blood test on the same day? At least that should tell you if the pregnancy is progressing or not. Everything crossed.

Had a chat with my Mum last night who has been on tenterhooks waiting for results of scans. My DH has just accepted a new job which means he won't be eligible for any paternity leave. Mum let slip that my sister is also pregnant, though a few weeks behind me so not ready to announce. It will be lovely if we are going through it together, not so lovely if it goes wrong for either of us. I seem to have a family due date buddy for every pregnancy so a baby around to remind me of every loss. Need to start thinking positive!

Just wondering if anyone has been using ov sticks (internet cheapies) and whether they tie in with EWCM.
I had a lot of EWCM three days ago, but no surge on the ov sticks until yesterday, and hardly any EWCM by then. I'm new to "looking for signs of ovulation"....but I'd have assumed the two things should tie up.
I think we've probably missed our opportunity this month, but would you all say EWCM is more accurate than the sticks or vice versa?
I'm only 2 weeks since early MC (#2), but we are keen to keep trying, if nothing else just so that we get a referral for testing. My GP was happy to refer me now, but the hospital (Royal Free) won't look at us until the 3rd mc.

squizita · 22/11/2013 15:21

Ruggle I've used an OV calendar, CM and OV sticks... the sticks worked for me (although bear in mind I fall very, very easily). I know many swear by CM BUT things like hydration can affect that and the sticks measure a surge in hormone 24hr before egg release so I found them reliable. My CM lasts for about 10 days so lots of time before and after OV.

Sorry you are feeling so down Tanny. I believe strongly in the medicinal power of ice cream (when it's still not a good idea to pour a glass of vino). I hope the Ben & Jerrys is on sale wherever you are. I hope more sincerely you get your results on Saturday so you know either way- the not knowing is so hard.
I had a voicemail today from the research midwife at St Mary's this afternoon- my TABLET results are normal so that's another box ticked. I'm waiting for AF to arrive- I need to be back in touch with SM's on day 1 to schedule saline scan and the also go for more bloods for the IVF process. I hope to all things holy that I get pg over Christmas because I reeeeally don't want to do IVF. I'm not up to being a human pin cushion.

Also, I have been reading with interest about this pessary thing that a lot of you seem to be dealing with. I think where I come from they are called suppositories? But what are they doing for you? Sorry for my ignorance here !!

Bakingtins · 22/11/2013 18:55

The pessaries/suppositories are called Cyclogest and they are a way of supplementing progesterone. Prof Q had me on them from day 21 to promote a good uterine lining and to keep levels high in first trimester until the placenta takes over producing progesterone. I think Prof Regan is of the opinion that low progesterone is a sign of a failing pregnancy but not the cause of it, so another area where the experts disagree.
Everyone seems to agree they do no harm except perhaps to cause a MMC by maintaining pregnancy signs, not too much of a problem if you are being scanned regularly.

OP posts:
Justonemoretime · 22/11/2013 22:24

And they are yucky, nasty things. I still have some, actually. If they do no harm I may use them up when the time comes. Thin lining is one of my things, so it may help. AF here but could be due to end of hrt. I've totally lost track.

Justonemoretime · 22/11/2013 22:25

Good luck tomorrow, tanny!

Justonemoretime · 22/11/2013 22:26

Good luck tomorrow, tanny!

LateBloomer414 · 22/11/2013 22:45

Thx Baking and Just. Mystery solved and validated my thought that they are to be avoided if at all possible!

Bakingtins · 23/11/2013 07:47

Good luck tanny

just if you are going to use them, give some thought to starting at day 21, then testing day 28 and either stopping if BFN or continuing if BFP. Prof Q thinks poor lining is one of the causes of implantation failure in which case starting at BFP can be too late.

OP posts:
katieash76 · 23/11/2013 09:22

That's the same as my consultant told me about the progesterone, start day 21 and stop if bfn day 28. I'd use them again if I got pregnant again, i only had to take one at night, then ensure I lay down for a while so they wouldn't fall out! I think they might have made my morning sickness worse though, but who knows!
Good luck today tanny.

Hi Downstairs, I'm not using ov sticks at the mo as I'm not TTC. I plan to take up with them again in Dec. I used them with my last pregnancy and found them to be a good guide. I can generally sense when I'm ov by the ewsm but the sticks help to confirm. DTD every day around that time and hope for the best. It's hard to stay optimistic using them when AF comes round again so they are really just a guide, not a guarantee. Hope that helps!

tannyLoo72 · 23/11/2013 19:31

Suspected ectopic. I am in hospital for the next couple of days for obs. I never thought I would hope to be mc-ing, but I so don't want to be here. Sad

Bakingtins · 23/11/2013 19:37

Oh tanny that's rubbish! Does that mean levels went up but they still can't see a sac? Glad they are at least keeping an close eye on you, but it must feel awful to be stuck there. Keep us posted.

Justonemoretime · 23/11/2013 19:39

Oh Tanny, so sorry to hear that. Wishing you well. (Hugs)
