Period after a termination

Hello

I've never posted on here before but looking for some advice on this topic.

I had a termination at 14 weeks due to severe complications with the baby. This was nearly 12 weeks ago and I still haven't had a period. It seems from your comments on previous threads that this could be "normal" but I've been really worried. I desperately want to be pregnant again but I'm definitely not at the moment.

Very sorry for all of you who have experienced a sad loss too. It's a really awful thing to go through.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi,

So sorry for your loss Sad, sending you lots of hugs.

I think it can take quite a while, and 12 weeks could be normal, but I know it doesn't help when you really want to be pregnant again.

I have read something about someone in a similar position who was prescribed something to "kick start" her periods, I don't know if I'm right about this, but could be worth seeing your GP about it to see if that's an option?

Big hugs xxx

Thank you so much for answering so quickly. I think I will make an appointment with my GP. I've been putting the brave face thing on until now!

Hi Sophie,

I've just written you a reply on the other thread you posted on. Yes, you can kick start your period with a course of progesterone. I hope your GP can help you.

Hi Sophie,

So sorry that you have had to go through this - I had a termination at 15 weeks in April, and my period took 10 weeks to return. I was really worried, but was told that it could take even longer. I did have an internal scan though, and they were able to tell me that I'd already ovulated and once I know AF was on its way I did relax.

Do you have a gynaecologist that you could go to? Might be worth getting a scan perhaps to see if they can see what's going on?
