Menopace - does it make you gain weight?

NewPlumCat · 21/03/2025 12:02

Hi,
I'm thinking of taking Menopace as I'm postmenopausal. I've read weight gain is a possible side effect?. I really want to take it but I'm a bit anxious as it might make me gain more weight as I've already put on weight during the transition?
Any advice and suggestions will be really appreciated x

I’ve been taking it for 2 years. Haven’t put in extra weight.

Arcticrival · 21/03/2025 12:22

i take it. Menopause itself caused weight gain but not menopace

SirChenjins · 21/03/2025 12:41

No, Menopace didn't make me put on weight - the cakes did though.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 21/03/2025 12:50

It's just a multi vitamin, it can't cause weight gain

Exactly this. I found it good for hot flushes, and it didn't make me gain weight.

Menopause caused weight gain for me - id been very slim my whole life and able to eat all the food up to that point . Simply put I just need a lot less calories than I used to and have found I can not stomach too much carbs - very little pasta or bread and not a lot of UPF. I’ve never dieted but I have had to change what I eat . It took me a good couple of years to realise - I’ve stabilised my weight and feel better too . Good luck on your menopause journey

Snippit · 21/03/2025 13:56

I don’t bother with menopause supplements, unfortunately they don’t help vaginal atrophy, which was bloody painful.

I’ve found that HRT has helped with my weight gain. My midriff is no longer chunky and I have my waist back. Where the estrogen has depleted the fat cells take over, hence the weight gain. I also follow the intermittent fasting regime, I feel so much better all round. I also take a general B vitamin supplement for energy.

Thank you. Has it helped with your symptoms? x

Thank you. Has it helped with your symptoms? x

It certainly has, no hot sweats, no more anxiousness or tears for no reason whatsoever 🤦‍♀️

My one regret was donating some of my favourite jeans to charity, they’d fit me again now 🤪

I don’t drink have never smoked, normal blood pressure, normal BMI for height and weight. My only problem is progesterone, which I require as I still have a womb, it causes PMT symptoms so horrific that I take it just once every 3 months.

The HRT that did this, TRIDESTRA, has just been withdrawn, not for safety reasons. Traumatised I visited my G.P, who then contacted a menopause specialist and between them have prescribed an off license regime, exactly the same as Tridestra, but with an estrogen patch instead of a tablet.

I also take Testosterone in the mix, this also is amazing. I have my libido back and energy. Whenever we go on holiday abroad I make sure I have my HRT in my hand luggage, there’s no way I let it out of my sight 🤣

I look at estrogen as WD40, it lubricates all areas, no aching joints. I also have M.S and find without it there’s a definite deterioration in my condition, quite dramatic.

One funny note, my libido is so raised now that my husband asks me to sleep in the spare bed some nights to give him a rest, poor man, 😂

I'm glad to hear that. Menopause has caused me a lot of weight gain and its terrible. I look awful and feel awful. No confidence at all and it's made me into a very miserable person. I don't want to go down the HRT route due to all the horror stories I've heard about it causing serious side effects but I'm glad it's worked for you x

Thank you so much for your beautiful message it really has given me some hope. I am glad to hear you are feeling better on hrt. But I am too scared to go on it as I've heard so many horror stories about it causing serious side effects. I really want to get better again. Please pray for me 🙏 God bless you ultimately 🙏

I've heard so many horror stories about it causing serious side effects. I really want to get better again.

@NewPlumCat Please don't base you decision on things you've read online There are thousands of women using HRT who never post on social media and feel fine on it.

I notice you've a couple of threads here on anxiety and also asking about herbs/supplements so it's clear you're needing something to help.

I've a few friends on HRT who feel great on it. I've been on it for over 15 years. No side effects worth mentioning.

You can't deny yourself something that may help simply because you've read some posts online. Maybe you'll be one of the women who feel great on it! And if it doesn't suit you, then you can either change the type of stop it.

Why don't you go to your GP (or if you can fund it a private GP or meno specialist) and discuss it and try it for 3 months? What have you got to lose? Only the symptoms you've got now!

Hi, and thank you so much for the beautiful message🙏❤️ God bless you and your family ultimately 🙏 you've really made my day and have given me so much hope. Yes I have been suffering with severe mental health and intrusive thoughts for over 3 years now. This was when I became menopausal and its completely destroyed my health and wellbeing. I would like to try HRT but its just the fear of the serious side effects that is stopping me. I spoke to lots of ladies who said they wouldn't go on HRT and it's dangerous. That's what's frightened me so much. I am really thinking about it. Anything you can do to help me with this decision will he really appreciated. God bless you with so much happiness and a long happy and healthy life Ameen 🙏🙏

I can't say much more.

Either you take the plunge and give it a go or you carry on as you are.

I think it might be a good idea to talk to your GP and get some perspective on the risks and side effects.

It's not helping you to focus on the negative things you've read. focus on reading medical websites where the facts are discussed.

https://www.balance-menopause.com/subject/hrt/

https://www.balance-menopause.com/menopause-library/10-faq-about-hrt/

You may not have any side effects and all the time you're worrying about trying it, you could be on it and feeling better.

I have been taking menopace for about 9 months and not noticed any weight gain. Having said that, as peri-menopause has kicked in I have overhauled my diet, upped protein and vegetables and cut out processed food where possible and carried on doing as much exercise as possible.
