Menopace - does it make you gain weight?

Hi,
I'm thinking of taking Menopace as I'm postmenopausal. I've read weight gain is a possible side effect?. I really want to take it but I'm a bit anxious as it might make me gain more weight as I've already put on weight during the transition?
Any advice and suggestions will be really appreciated x

It can for some people. You won’t know unless you try it though.

I want to try it. I'm just too anxious about the risks. Thank you for yours message and support. God bless you 🙏 ❤️

You’re just going around in circles here. The risks are tiny as explained upthread. Nothing is risk free anyway ! No one can say any more to you really. You have to decide for yourself if it’s worth a try. Have you read the links posted , you don’t sound like you have.

Hi, I haven't read them as yet but I've read them a few weeks ago. I'm not trying to be difficult, I'm just too anxious. I've been suffering with severe health anxiety for the past 3 years since I became menopausal. I really appreciate your reassurance and support 🙏 God bless you 🙏 ❤️

maybe reread them again? Good luck whatever you decide. Menopause is crap and I feel for you.

Thank you. Has it helped with your symptoms? x

I’m 100% better, my husband will vouch for that as well. My main problem was vaginal atrophy, it was so bad it was painful just to sit down. I started with Vagifem tablets which are inserted vaginally, but these don’t help with hot flushes, joint pain, anxiety etc, so I have an estrogen patch stuck to my derrière 😬, and medroxyprogesterone because I have a uterus and this protects it from the effects of the estrogen (it’s called hyperplasia). I didn’t get on with Utrogestan, it certainly wasn’t identical to my body, I couldn’t stop crying and was a nervous wreck.

I also take Tostran testosterone, absolutely bloody marvellous!!! My energy and libido has returned. One of my G.Ps suggested a romantic meal for my libido, chuffing idiot, after blood tests it turned out that I was 90% deficient, I literally had no life, no energy, absolutely bloody awful. My libido has now gone through the roof, my husband who’s 61 can’t keep up with me 🤣. I said to him “be careful what you wish for”, he moaned at my lack of interest in sex. Some nights I sleep in the spare bed to give him a rest 🥴

So many marriages break down at this time in life. One woman admitted to me that her divorce was due to her menopause symptoms and deeply regrets not getting help, her ex has now moved on after being rejected by her as she instigated the divorce, it’s really sad. It breaks her heart to see him with another woman.

Statistically there’s a 30-50% increase in the possibility of breast cancer for moderate drinking, nearly everyone around me drinks alcohol 🤷‍♀️. I was surprised at this statistic, I quite possibly consume my weekly recommended allowance for a woman in a year. I feel so much better for not drinking regularly for the last 15 years, I’m also told I don’t look my age, I’ve never smoked either. The risks of HRT and breast cancer are so small when you compare it to alcohol, many people aren’t aware of this, my husband was really shocked at the connection, to be honest I wasn’t aware of this until recently.

I take menopace tablets. They are a vitamin.
I have gone through menopause without any HRT (personal choice rather than due to any underlying medical condition). The main thing I have noticed is improved sleep.

I don't suffer from them.

It's the old synthetic type in patches- Norethisterone usually (check the ingredients on the box.)

The safest sort is micronised progesterone, brand name Utrogestan (or a brand called Gepretix.)
You take 2 a day for 12 days a month or 1 a day if your periods stopped more than a year ago.

Ask your GP for Oestrogel and micronised progesterone.

Will my GP be able to prescribe me this?

Sadly yet. Menopause seems to make your metabolism slow down.

Hi newplumcat

Just seen your post and hope you are doing ok. This was me a couple of years ago. I also did not want her but was described the patches you have. I also had blood tests to check my hormones levels. I have been using menopause for a couple of years but the doctor did say my vitamin d was low.so have been also taking a small dose too. I tried the patches a couple of times but they gave me period cramps like I had never had before so gave them up. I continued with the menopace and vit d all is good but I forgot to take them on holiday with me so I didn't take for 2 weeks and I could tell the difference at the end of week 2. The vit d has helped with the anxiety. Hope you find what's right for you
