I can't believe it. I've left a job I love due to crippling anxiety from the the menopause. I feel so empty inside 😞

Oh love. Oh no.
I totally totally get you. X

Sympathies and so many hugs.

Was it just anxiety? Any other symptoms?

Driedonion · 17/11/2024 16:15

I’m so sorry to hear that. Can you attend a menopause clinic to help tofind a way through all of this?

Silvertulips · 17/11/2024 16:16

Your employer should be more inclusive! Can you ring them and explain?

Enigma52 · 17/11/2024 16:23

Oh no..
Can you get help with the anxiety? Maybe from a menopause specialist?

Sending hugs.
It's just the pits all of this ❤️

Greaselightening · 17/11/2024 16:31

I had a hysterectomy a year ago due to Fibroids and Endometriosis. It has been managed very poorly. The hrt keeps activating the Endo. I am under a Meno specialist. Work have been great but it is a stressful industry, so I decided to leave.
I don't recognise who I am anymore. Its frightening. X Thank you everyone X

Anxiety/palpitations, low mood, zero confidence, itchy skin, swollen joints 😫

OP posts:
Enigma52 · 17/11/2024 16:36

@Greaselightening I've had a hysterectomy too. No HRT as I've got cancer now. I don't recognise myself either.

I hope you can find a way through it all and feel confident again x

unconditionalpurelove · 17/11/2024 16:40

I feel for you. I did the same thing also due to anxiety. I think I'm in peri menopause but also I think I have neurodiversity traits too but I just don't know. I wish I'd have had more support but I just couldn't really communicate it properly and the nature of the job everyone so busy etc. Not sure what to do now. I'm currently not working.

Brandnewskytohangyourstarsupon · 17/11/2024 16:40

You have got every debilitating symptom there is grease.
FFS it’s so shit and unfair for you it truly is.

You sound like you are at the end of your tether to have made such a huge decision.

What plans do you have going forward flower?

Growsomeballswoman · 17/11/2024 16:56

I'm peri, right now I'm sat on the floor sobbing mess worried about work tomorrow. I feel bereft. I'm so sorry OP x

Arlanymor · 17/11/2024 17:02

You poor, poor thing. I am peri and recognise all of that. Luckily I can be very open with my boss and I work in the charity sector so am surrounded by very good people, but I can imagine if this had happened in a previous role I would have had to do the same. It’s so bloody unfair isn’t it?

I feel so much for you - those symptoms could be a list of my own… adding in occasional random sweatiness and insomnia. I think the best thing you can do for yourself is find something to look forward to - big or small, work-related or not - you need something to lift you up a bit. I’ve just set up a ‘space’ within my bank account to start saving for a holiday. I don’t know where I am going yet, but just knowing that a little bit of money is accruing towards something nice helps me.

Hi all, sorry to hear about it Greaselightening, that is a problem with all women. Symptoms coming and going. I hope those going through it can get support and advice. There is a project called Menopause@work, not sure if it helps some women reading it.
Take care, hugs to all.

Beryl1 · 17/11/2024 18:08

I'm really sorry to hear that.
I have been signed off for the past two weeks from a job I love too. I was aiming to go back tomorrow but anxiety still has a tight grip on me and I know I'm not ready. I feel sick with work all the time, that I am letting everyone down at work, I do want to go back but I can't. I fear I'll never be able to return.
My heart goes out to you, it must have been a terrible decision to make 😔

I'm so sorry to hear you've had such a hard time after the hysterectomy. Life is so unfair :( How are you managing without hrt? X

I'm sorry to hear you have had such a hard with the peri and anxiety. It is horrible :( I'm the same, as I definitely don't have the confidence for interviews, meeting new people etc :( x

@Greaselightening I just have to keep on going now. It's hard and I've spent a small fortune in supplements. It's the least of my worries I guess, now that cancer is in the mix.

I hope you will feel better soon soon, I totally understand how you feel right now ❤️

Thank you. I just couldn't do it anymore. Along with the Endometriosis, which I hoped would be cured by having a hysterectomy.
I really don't know and that's the scary part. I feel worthless :( x

I am so sorry and sad to hear this. Sending you a massive hug. You can always pm me if you need to talk to someone. I was exactly the same as you and ended up phoning my gp and being signed off x

@Greaselightening no way are you worthless, no way! It's the crappy situation you are in. Can you have even a tiny bit of oestrogen, without it aggravating your endo? X

MixedCouple2 · 17/11/2024 19:59

Have you tried to address things more holistically. Alternative medicine plus dietary changes. It can make the world of difference.

Thank you for your lovely message and advice. I'm sorry you are going through similar.
I think right now, I am just about managing one day at a time. Otherwise it triggers the anxiety. I'm hoping things will get better once the hrt is right 🙏 x

My heart really goes out to you. I could have written your post word for word. I literally couldn't sleep on a Sunday before work. I was having panic attacks in my sleep. That morning my husband said you can't do this anymore and I phoned my gp and was signed off. Sending you a big hug and please pm me if you need to talk x

That is very true. I hope the supplements are helping 🙏 I'm so sorry to hear that you have cancer. That's a lot to deal with 🥺

Thank you xx I am on 2 pumps of gel with progesterone. It's the 4th type I've tried. I just think all of the different hormones haven't helped :( I've not been on it long so I'm not sure if it will aggrevate the endo like the others have x
