A fellow sufferer here. I had a month of symptoms returning in January but then last month I was waking up with raging sweats at 3am.
My latest prescription has on old style bottle with French labelling. Hoping to get back to normal

This one was the worst for me. And I just got it again on my latest prescription 😫

This didn't work for me at all. I have 4 spare bottles. If anyone would like to have these if it suits them I'm happy to send it. Please dm me.

My latest prescription, collected this week is the new cylindrical style pump but no stick on label. It's the same style label but printed onto the container.Confused

PardonPauline · 10/04/2024 13:59

I reported to MHRA who have responded that that I’ve been given Oestrodose imported from France so it’s not Basins but a company called BeachCourse.

The Pharmacist suggested I go back to Oestrogel but I’ve rather lost faith and will go back to Everol Conti.

I noticed symptoms coming back since starting with the new bottle in October last year. I was on a 100mg patch and supplemented with 2 pumps daily. Over the last few weeks I have been cutting a patch in half and adding that instead (so 150 in patches) and it has made a difference already. Either I stopped absorbing or there is something else causing it to stop working

Bestdrinkever · 02/05/2024 18:58

Apparently Besins are bringing back the other pumps next year. If I remember correctly I saw the other day on the stories on Instagram of Alice Riley, blooming through the menopause (one word)

How are you getting on with it so far?

vjg13 · 03/05/2024 10:44

@GreenShady I've not actually started on my new batch yet as I have some of the other cylindrical ones with the stick on label left.

Janey44 · 04/05/2024 07:00

Oh for gods sake! I knew there was something not right about this new pack. I'm falling asleep by 2pm every day again and having palpitations every night. Tearful and forgetful. Cannot function.

So what are the official instructions for getting ourselves heard? Is there a best email address to contact ? I've probably missed it on here.

pharmachameleon · 04/05/2024 08:19

@Janey44 if you feel there's an issue with your new pack you should report it using the government's Yellow Card Scheme for defective medical products.

Hi all,

I know there are two big threads on this - seems I'm late to the party...and it's not a very fun party at that 😂

SO, after a number of months using the cylinder shaped oestrogel bottle and wondering what the hell was wrong with me (my menopause symptoms are low mood, insomnia and joint pain) I started a new (old?) teardrop shaped bottle....

It hasn't even been a week and the difference is astounding. I feel soooo much better. I even look better - skin more glowy, less tired.

What the hell?! Again, I'm sorry as I know there's a huge amount of info on here, but what should I do? I will yellow card it of course. But do we have any clarity on what is happening going forward? Thanks so much.

Hi there, can you post a photo of the conical (teardrop shaped) bottle that is working for you, so people can know if this is an old batch or a new one; if it is Oestrogel or Oestrodose? Thanks!

All Oestrogel/Oestrodose/Gynokadin are manufactured by Besins. And even if you get a parallel import, it's the same product, the only difference is that it is procured in Europe by wholesalers/distributors. Besins also expors Oestrodose to the UK as this snapshot of their press relase video clearly shows.

@Azaleah - thanks. Picture attached. On the other side of the bottle, I can see there is a sticker covering ‘oestrodose’ with an oestrogel label.

Hi, any further updates around gel that's working and how to get it. Also, any tips of seeing a GP or private Dr while on holiday in Spain and seeing if I can get some 'good stuff' curved bottles shaped there?
Would I need a UK Drs letter or a bottle I currently have to show them etc?
Running out of good bottles, one left...😬

Iamthemoom · 22/06/2024 22:09

Also wondering about up dates. My pharmacy currently giving me oestrodose with oestrogel label over it rather than the newer bottles. It's better than those but still nowhere near as good as the original. I reported and sent bottles back to Besins. Anyone had an update? Or another solution?

ADHDHDHDHD · 22/06/2024 22:19

I changed to Estradot patches, it's been so much better

My GP has switched me to the Everol patches and I’m also feeling much better - much more like I had been pre all these changes to the bottles. I wish I’d changed ages ago, I’d been nervous as I do a lot of wild swimming but they mostly stay on and I’m sleeping decently most nights and my hot/cold temperature regulation is noticeably better.

LeafDancing · 16/08/2024 06:34

i switched to sandrena s while back as the bottles were not working anymore to get the the little foil packets but my repeat perscription still had oestrogel bottles so I got that this month and yet again I’ve realised after a week on it ALL my symptoms are coming back again! Does this stuff just not work anymore? I took it successfully for 6yrs before they started messing with the packaging. Another friend was similar and had her levels tested to show very low results like again it wasn’t working so she’s switched to an alternate same thing then happened with my sil. Has there been anymore updates on this issue?

Summerdew · 16/08/2024 10:42

A couple of batches were recalled for faulty pumps but no mass recall as far as I’ve seen. Having said that, I’m still using it (the boxes with the barcodes at the top) and I’m in the main doing ok on it.

sparklewhite · 16/08/2024 12:36

I'm also considering changing as even though I posed about an older style oestrogel bottle seeming better, since then subsequent bottles of any kind don't seem to having much effect!

I have joint pain, anxiety and terrible sleep. Also haven't been getting 'periods' on the progesterone break which makes me think the hormone levels aren't quite right.

ConfusedEasily · 16/08/2024 16:10

I seem to be doing ok on the newer cylindrical bottles. The ones with the printed on info. The gel in them reminds me of the conical bottles as it seems to be thicker than the gel in the earlier cylindrical bottles with the stuck on labels (the other difference is the boxes that contain the thinner gel also has a sticker to seal the ends of the box, whereas the printed on label ones have a small perforation Next to the lid to open it).

I also bought some jewellery scales from Amazon so that I could weigh out my dose to ensure I was getting the same amount each day. The dose rates per pump can vary so much with these cylindrical bottles and I am super sensitive to even the smallest change so that has really helped me a lot.

I did however get given some of the older bottle of cylinder gel when I collected my repeat recently, I knew as soon as I saw that sticker on the box, but hoped that maybe it was the dose rate variation that caused my issue with it. To start I was actually fine, but after about a week I started to notice little things creeping back in, and although I did persevere and finish the bottle I had started, I decided I couldn’t bear the thought of going straight on to the second one as the symptoms continued to build. Thankfully I had another prescription to collect by then and that contained the printed bottles. It took me a while to go back to feeling normal on the thicker gel again once I restarted it though. So for me, there is obviously something lacking with the thinner gel.

So in summary, I have found the newer cylindrical bottles (with the thicker gel, printed on info and perforation next to the box lid) combined with weighing my gel dose every day seems to be working ok for me. The first cylindrical bottles that came out after doing well on the conical bottles for ages (which have the thinner gel, stuck on info labels and a clear sticker to seal the ends of the boxes) still don’t work for me, even with weighing.

I hope that info helps :)

On a different note to packaging-how many pumps do people tend to take? I'm on 3 currently but never know if it's enough or too much.

Cozytoesandtoast00 · 16/08/2024 18:52

I changed to Sandrena in the end and it totally fixed the issue! I feel normal again.

LeafDancing · 16/08/2024 19:14

Yeah I’m going to see if I request Sandrena again as I felt stable on it again it’s not as fully effective as the d oestrogel but it’s a lot better than feeling crap again!
