I can't find these anywhere, one Boots said they might get some end of November. I need to try and talk to my GP again but does anyone know of an alternative, or what happens if you stop taking them? I have been on oestrogel, about to switch to patches which I can get

My GP prescribed Provera instead of Utrogestan but Im very reluctant to change and I don't think its body identical.

In case anyone is in London and looking - I managed to get some in Boots next to Baker Street tube today.

histrel · 17/01/2023 17:51

Struggling to find any here in Morecambe, i order online through Lloyds pharmacy and they haven't had any for a week so went to a couple of local pharmacies today but no luck there either.

Camdenish · 17/01/2023 21:45

I’m in London and am going to go back to the pharmacy tomorrow to see if it’s come in yet.

Snoopy96 · 26/01/2023 10:53

Can't get any in South East either, have switched to patches but am having awful side affects so thinking of stopping it all until they have my perception back in stock.

Hop243 · 26/01/2023 18:05

I can't get any in Sussex, been waiting since before Christmas. I am feeling dreadful without any hrt but am wary of trying a different type as the spray and utrogestan seem to work well.

Lilyjfree · 26/01/2023 23:11

I’ve not been able to find any in my area. I still have about 10 days left but I suffer from anxiety and not being able to continue HRT on the same basis was panicking me. I found an online pharmacy who had them in stock so decided it was worth the extortionate price for peace of mind. Hopefully by the time my 60 days worth runs out I will be able to get them locally again.

Snoopy96 · 27/01/2023 08:45

I stopped my patches yesterday as I felt horrendous. I am going to try to cope without any until they have them back in stock. But in case I turn into the she devil, can I ask which online pharmacy people have bought them from and were they really expensive?

@Snoopy96 I think the online pharmacy might be called the Online Pharmacy.

I pay for mine as they are on a private prescription and the price varies according to the pharmacy. The cost is approximately 50p per 100mgs capsule. sometimes less, sometimes slightly more as each pharmacy adds their mark-up.

I don't use mine daily.

Lilyjfree · 27/01/2023 10:52

I used the independent pharmacy uk. They were about £30 a pack, but had a discount for new customers. Definitely not cheap, but I couldn’t bear the thought of my symptoms returning right now.

Perilady · 27/01/2023 11:19

Hi im also unable to get any utrogestan 100mg capsels. I ve been doing really well on this and now am getting terrible anxiety due to not being able to get from any pharmacy. Does anyone have an unwanted supply, much appreciated🤞🏻

Does the online pharmacy send details to you gp and would that mean your gp would cancel your nhs prescription?

Thank you just ordered from them, they should be here by Monday x

I don’t know, I wouldn’t think so because the online pharmacy is authorising their own prescription. They do take your doctor’s details, but the online pharmacy’s own Dr agrees the prescription.

If they have cancelled my nhs prescription I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it. I will need to get the gel part in the next 3 weeks, so I guess I will find out then.

Snoopy96 · 27/01/2023 18:23

Bit of an update. All my local Boots had deliveries today. I had just ordered from an online pharmacy as well....never mind I now have enough in case next time is a problem.

So check with Boots ladies.x

TheDogsMother · 27/01/2023 20:30

I'v been using Boots Online and initial order was missing Utrogestan but it arrived about a week ago.

jisudye · 03/02/2023 20:54

Hello, I am on the independent pharmacy web page and cannot get past the bit where they ask to contact your GP, how do you get past this? Thanks

jisudye · 03/02/2023 20:57

As I am dependent on prescription diazepam, and while utrogestan is not addictive, if women dependent on prescription diazepam stop taking it for silly reasons like stock, it could be life threatening.
This is because utrogestan, like all progesterone, acts on GABA receptors, so, people like me, need utrogestan, a regular constant supply.

I just agreed they could contact my Drs and input the practice information

jisudye · 04/02/2023 11:20

Hello, I am worried that if they contact my GP the GP will stop my NHS prescription, do they do that? Thanks

Ineverpromisedyouarosegarden · 04/02/2023 17:20

@jisudye I think the reason behind it is to keep your medical records complete. They inform your GP of what they prescribe. Don't think GP would stop your NHS prescription.

I imagine they send an email along the lines of "Just to inform u jisudye contacted us on date and requested x and x was dispensed after a consultation". I suspect this is then uploaded to your file probably by a GP practice pharmacist.

Notellinganyone · 04/02/2023 17:24

I’ve just bought four months worth. Initially from Oxford Pharmacy online and then they were back in stock in Boots so got three month’s worth there.

Notellinganyone · 04/02/2023 17:26

You don’t have to allow them to contact your GP - it’s optional.

jisudye · 04/02/2023 17:37

How do you do that?
They would not let me proceed with the order if I had not given permission for them to contact my GP

jisudye · 04/02/2023 17:44

As I was a bit paranoid, when boots texted me this morning to say my meds were ready to collect, I assumed the utrogestan would not be there, so I called them about "stock" and they said it was.
I went today, and my other meds were in the bag but not progesterone, and the lady said they are not getting "stock" until Monday.
After reading about all the bullshit other women have been through, I am paranoid that they won't get "stock" on Monday either.
