Covid jab triggered Peri M

Scarlet40 · 16/05/2021 23:48

On the day of my vaccine 12th April my period started in the morning. This worried me a little and I disclosed it to the nurse who said it was fine. Two weeks later I started getting night sweats, hot flushes and headaches. My period was due on 10th May and I am 6 days late which is unusual. Anyone else experienced a sudden start to the menopause triggered by the Vaccine. I am 47.

No.

It is not possible that your symptoms are linked to the vaccine.

Take a pregnancy test?

Accidentallydeletedoopsss · 16/05/2021 23:55

I’ve heard a lot IRL and on MN about the vaccine delaying periods

PineappleDreamer · 17/05/2021 08:04

I don't subscribe to the viewpoint that the jab delays periods or causes menopause as it's just not possible.

However I'm 49 and had my first jab on may 1st. I was due on 12 days ago and nothing ....

I'm putting this down to peri-menopause though, despite my periods always being regular. I mean, they've got to start going a bit off piste at some point haven't they?

LiveintheNow · 17/05/2021 08:19

It is possible for the vaccine to affect periods, due to the lining of the womb being part of the immune system.

There’s lots of anecdotal evidence from women who are convinced that having Covid (not the vaccine) triggered menopause

ChimpMcGarvey · 17/05/2021 09:27

My first period after the vaccine was unlike any I've ever had and lasted for about 12 days. I'm normally very light and very regular.

I've now started my second period since the vaccine, it's roughly on time but I'm on day 2 and feel dreadful, again so unlike normal for me. I've had night sweats for a week beforehand and the most chronic anxiety such that I've had to cancel a day of work today as I just can't face it.

There are numerous threads on various forums from women whose periods have altered significantly - delayed, earlier, heavier, longer, since having the vaccine. It never even occurred to me that the two were connected until I was working with a client who mentioned it.

Thanks everyone. Seems like it’s a common thing

The ZOE covid symptom app has had women reporting bleeding post menopause, bleeding between cycles, extra period, heavier periods after the covid jabs and they are looking in to this.

Im menopausal and have been off HRT for over a year. The hot flushes that started up again when I stopped calmed down about 2 months ago so I was just getting about 2 or 3 a day.

Two days after the second dose of the Pfizer jab I suddenly started getting about 20+ a day again. Really vicious flushes and sweats needing a shower and change of clothes. It’s just settling back down to how it was before this last jab.

I am wondering if the scientists researching side effects will find a link between menstruation/menopause symptoms.

Scarlet40 · 03/06/2021 23:16

Update - I was right. Blood tests came back FSH high and with recent symptoms I am now peri menopausal. I am 100% convinced the vaccine triggered it. Doctor advised I complete a Yellow Card to get it registered as a possible side effect. Now I have to work out the best way forward to manage it. (Actually have no idea!). No sign of last months period and next one due Monday.

I'm nearl 50, been having mild perimenopause symptoms for a while, noticeably worse after having covid - periods heavier, more painful and closer together - then worse again after having the vaccine, ( brain fog, frustration, losing the plot etc) but then feeling more normal again this week like the effects of both covid and vac, accentuated symptoms for a while but the affect wears off after a few weeks). Had many reasons to feel tired, drained ( not least my job looking after critically ill covid patients).

Just got my text to book 2nd jab - not looking forward to that at all! However, in the grand scheme, I know having had covid itself, its far worse than the affects of the jab which wore off after a few weeks in my case. Yes I think it may highten symptoms for a time, but this effect wears off and the rest is down to progression of perimenopause, and in my case, massive job pressure for the past 15 months of wave after wave. So never let temporary blips put you off the jab, it's vital, and younger people are becoming very sick too at present because they didn't get the jab in time.

I am 35 and since the covid jab I have had 10+ hot flushes a day and no period. I’m a bit devastated to read that women on here have now been confirmed to be peri menopausal. I’m only 35 and should not be going through the menopause this young. I will book some blood tests in with the doctor. If they come back that I am peri menopausal then that has a direct link to the covid jab. No one can tell me it’s a coincidence!

Heelsofsteel · 26/06/2021 13:13

I’m late thirties. Had the Pfizer a few weeks ago, terrible period arrived the morning after (not to schedule).
Yesterday morning I had a hot flush. I’ve not felt great since the vaccine and frankly this thread is scaring the shit out of me .

BLACKTUESDAY1 · 26/06/2021 13:13

I am 49. Always had regular, heavy periods. Had first Pfizer in January, 2nd in April. My last period was in March and nothing at all since. Hot flushes started in March. At the same time periods stopped I have developed constant catarrah and chronic cough/wheeze. I feel as if I have a constant cold. GP says hayfever although I've never had hayfever before or any other allergies, or anything like this at all. Not sure if any of this is related to vaccine?!

ZingDramaQueenOfSheeba · 26/06/2021 13:22

how do you know the vaccine triggered it, 100%?
correlation is not causation so how can you be sure it isn't a coincidence?
and what if it isn't a side effect but recording it as such will cause a false data set? won't it then make others think the same as you but without any actual proof?

genuine questions and would love to know some answers.

Username25 · 26/06/2021 13:49

Regular periods up until vaccine then night of vaccine hot flushes started. 10+ hot flushes and night sweats a day for past 3.5 weeks since vaccine and period 13 days late. I directly link this to vaccine due to the fact it happened only after covid vaccine and due to my age. I am 35. Not average age of menopause. Plus other women have noted the same since vaccine.

Heelsofsteel · 26/06/2021 13:52

How can we really know a vaccine triggered anything? This is why families the world over have for decades failed in compensation claims for children that were allegedly ‘vaccine damaged’. (Not talking Covid obviously but mmr etc).
A yellow card system is well and good but a) it rarely benefits the person who suffered, and b)it’s all just anecdotal unless someone wants to pay for the study to prove it. Which nobody ever seems to.

Heelsofsteel · 26/06/2021 13:55

It also worth noting that there are lots of anecdotes from women who have recovered from covid , or indeed still have long covid symptoms, who are convinced that covid itself triggered early menopause. Some very young indeed.

aurea · 26/06/2021 13:56

Are all these issues with Pfizer jag? Anyone had issues with Astra Zeneca?
Thanks

Alonelonelylonersbadidea · 26/06/2021 14:00

I'm due to get my first Pfizer jab next week and now I'm worried (47). I know perimenopause is on the horizon but I get periods every 28 days like clockwork. All manageable. I really don't want it all to go to shit now!!

Sisisimone · 26/06/2021 14:01

Given your age its most likely that it's a complete coincidence this happened around the time of your vaccination.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/06/2021 14:03

I think there are lots of period disruptions linked to the jab but you're 47, it was going to happen at some point..

Username25 · 26/06/2021 14:13

What about me? I’m 35! That’s not a coincidence. I’m sorry. But it’s not.

Username25 · 26/06/2021 14:14

I’m 35 and am having hot flushes and no period. I’m very concerned. I woudlnt be if I was late 40’s but given my age I will be devastated if this has brought on early menopause for me.

Username25 · 26/06/2021 14:15

Mine was moderna. Age 35 no period since and 10 or more hot flashes a day x
