Manchester meet up

Thanks to Luchar, Ninja, Olive Oil et al........ here is a new thread dedicated to trying to get a Manchester meet up.

I'm on hols imminently (at last, at last) so wouldn't be able to do anything pre 16th August (what with washing and packing and unpacking and washing etc etc). Don't let that stop the rest of you!

Hope to see you soon

Gumdrop - thanks for starting this off!! I am busy with holidays/sorting out childcare etc for a while so how about the Saturday of the B Hol weekend - Sat the 23rd August?? Are we bringing children or not? Any takers? Any ideas for venues - depends on whether children are coming. What does anyone else think/want to do?? There are lots of nice places to eat in the city centre...see some of you then I hope...

Would I be drummed out if I were to say that I'd quite like to meet without the children? At least for the first one.

I realise it may be different if you have tinies but my dd's are 3 and 5, and just seem to egg each other on at the moment. It would be nice to get to know people without having to drop in and out of my bmfh mode.

As for places, I'll eat anything (if it stays still long enough), so Chinese, tapas, mussels at Grinch (if its still there) all equally welcome, as are any other suggestions (except please not the cafe in the bottom of Daisy and Tom, I think I'm still barred) .

PS Brittany flat brown stomachs need not apply.............

I must not use brackets
I must not use brackets
I must not use brackets
I must not use brackets

Only - I actually do speak with these kind of asides anyway.

I quite like brackets actually (and speak like that too!). So how about no kids and on the 23rd August then...or has everyone else got flat brown stomachs (unlike me!)?!

I'm off work for a week now so will check in the week after to see what's happening...

Rhubarb · 18/07/2003 21:43

I've got a pregnant belly, and it's certainly not brown! I'd love to come to a Manchester meet-up sometime.

ninja · 25/07/2003 20:52

Mine's not flat either (post pregnancy) - but I'd probably have to bring a little one - 3.5 months so she won't be going anywhere - is that OK?

I'll also eat anything

luchar · 28/07/2003 12:55

Hi. Back at work now and getting some catching up done. So who is up for a meeting on the 23rd? Shall we agree that it is to be child-free (with the exception of babies)? Who fancies eating where? Grinch is lovely (not sure if they still do mussels though) but there are lots of other places too. Is the date OK or shall we put it back a bit? It would be nice if a few of us could make it...

oliveoil · 28/07/2003 13:11

Put me down for the 23rd or whenever (empty diary ), can't recommend any places as I don't go out much in town anymore, usually always end up in Pizza Express, how original.

Rhubarb · 29/07/2003 10:14

I'll pencil it in too.

luchar · 05/08/2003 11:19

Hello - thought I'd better post again and see who's coming. So far there's me, rhubarb, oliveoil, ninja and babe, gumdrop and amanda1. Is that everyone? Is the 23rd august still OK? If so it's six of us for lunch somewhere in the city centre...so...any ideas? I don't really know very many lunch places as have never worked in Manchester. Thanks!

Rhubarb · 05/08/2003 11:23

Oliveoil works there, does she have any ideas of good places for lunch? And I think Janh might be coming.

luchar · 05/08/2003 14:05

Quite fancy Pizza Express actually (see Slimming World thread!!) Olive Oil!! Any other ideas??

soppysocks · 08/08/2003 23:28

hi to al. i would quite like to come if thats ok. if your still all going. let me know if its child free day or not hey. i only live 10 mins from city centre.

Hilary · 09/08/2003 16:47

Would like to come but I am away on 23rd, unfortunately. Maybe next time...

Rhubarb · 11/08/2003 15:16

Pizza Hut sounds fine to me. I'll probably send dh and dd off to spend the day together whilst I meet you all, then I can return home with them. Any ideas of time? And where is Pizza Hut anyway?

soppysocks · 11/08/2003 16:00

isnt pizza hut on market st? just past boots.

Rhubarb · 11/08/2003 16:05

Does it have a bar? Not that I'll be able to drink much, but some Mumnetters might want to and it does make it more relaxing if you can have a glass of wine or two!

soppysocks · 11/08/2003 16:09

im not sure, if not we could always have a glass of wine at Wetherspoons which is close to pizzahut, before we have something to eat. so do you live far from M/cr? I live near Droylsdon

Rhubarb · 13/08/2003 16:22

Is anyone arranging this then? I'd really like to go, so please gimme some feedback! Who's going?

soppysocks · 13/08/2003 19:02

hi rhubarb, yeah i still wanna go. so wot is everyone doing then??? we meeting at wetherspoons for a quick drink then pizza hut, or are we ataying in wetherspoons to eat too??

soppysocks · 13/08/2003 19:03

sorry meant to say 'staying in wetherspoons'!!! and also that i sent u e mail

Rhubarb · 13/08/2003 20:53

Got your email, sent one back!
C'mon everyone, only 3 days to go and nothing has been arranged yet! Can we have a show of hands as to who is going at least!

janh · 13/08/2003 21:05

nooo, not 3 days, can't come if it's 3 days, I'll be in Llandudno!

Rhubarb · 13/08/2003 21:38

Oh, maybe I got the date wrong! My brain is not as it was lately. Noooooo, it's the Saturday after isn't it? Bank holiday weekend? Is that right? I do apologise Soppysocks if I've misled you too! I don't quite know what's happening to me lately, I couldn't remember the name of my MW today either, still can't and I know her well! I lose track of what day it is and just have difficulty remembering things. Sometimes I wonder if I'm still awake, or if the thing that I did was in a dream or reality. Do you know what I mean?
