Would anyone be interested in a Northern Ireland meet up?

Well done WKMS. First day is the worse...the scary thing is that you start to forget you were ever off after a very short time.

Good luck for the next few days....great to hear the boys got on so well at nursery. Wee stars!

MarthaSlatternStewart · 05/08/2010 15:33

congratulations mamamary

well done WKMS

I'm not sure about 10th will just see how my baby gets on in Nursery, (did I mention my baby starts nursey that week?)

booyhoo · 06/08/2010 11:41

ah that's great WKMS. it makes all the difference when you know they are settled. you can go to work and deal with your day rather than worry about them being upset.

ooh martha, my pfb is starting primary school aswell in sept, cannot believe we are at this stage. it seems only a few months ago he was toddling about in a nappy.

LittleMissSnowShine · 08/08/2010 11:27

lol @ Tee - my PhD is more or less in Irish studies and particularly contemporary NI stuff and you want to hear the kind of stuff that goes on at conferences!! Ah, I'm sure they mean well most of the time but it gives the Belfast contingent something to snort about into their free conference wine afterwards

good job WKMS! will have to get lots of tips from you when i go back to work :)

dingdong3 · 08/08/2010 16:08

Marking my place as I lost you all....Shock

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend. We went to the zoo this morning....so NOT funny pushing a double buggy up that hill!!!

LOL Tee at your post above....takes all sorts I suppose...

Tee2072 · 08/08/2010 19:11

Hell, I'm not even Northern Irish and I know its a bad idea. Grin

Think of the great workout you had dingdong!! Did you see the baby meerkats?

Do we have a day? 10th September? Is that what was decided?

booyhoo · 08/08/2010 22:43

hi ladies.

have you all had a good weekend?

dingdong i ws considering putting our names down for a trip to the zoo with surestart but you have reminded me about the hill. not sure i want to now. was it worth it or not?

tee i can do 10th.

dingdong3 · 09/08/2010 13:33

boo, it was just ok....I think on a good day I'd go again as I do like to support it and the kids enjoy it but I wouldn't be hiking up the hill as there aren't really that many good animals up there...there is enough to enjoy on the lower levels and the picnic/play area is lovely.

When's the surestart day? Maybe we should consider doing something like that for a meet up? They do parent and toddler special days at the Zoo throughout the year.

10th good for us btw...but probably said that before?!

Have a good Monday....tee, keep those pants on!

dingdong3 · 09/08/2010 13:35

PS...forgot to say tee the baby meerkats were GORGEOUS! Definitely a highlight!

booyhoo · 09/08/2010 13:48

i think they are doing it on the 18th of august. have to check that though because my friend was gabbing on about some other thing she was going to so i might have picked up her date instead of teh zoo date.

TakeLovingChances · 10/08/2010 14:47

Hi!

Tee I followed your link to that accent thread. I also rolled my eyes.

10th September? Is that the next meet-up day? Not sure I can go, will have to check and will get back to you all.

Here, just a bit of a random Q: does anyone here live in Whitehead/ has ever lived in Whitehead? For some reason DH and I have fallen in love with it and are thinking of making a move there in the next few years! Just looking for a bit of native opinion before we start properly looking at houses etc.

By the way, dingdong I went to the zoo yesterday with DS and my 10-year-old cousin who insisted on pushing the buggy the whole way Grin I felt like reaching in and lifting the baby meerkats! Soooo cute! I love the zoo.

Tee2072 · 11/08/2010 07:36

Yes, we are talking about 10th September.

I finally had to hide that thread, TLC, because the woman was being such an idiot. When every NI native tells you its a bad idea? Don't do it!

TakeLovingChances · 11/08/2010 08:58

Perhaps Tee we could invite that English lady to our next meet up and give her a vocal coaching lesson Grin

Not you, of course, cuz you're American, but you can watch and laugh Wink

Tee2072 · 11/08/2010 11:44

I've lived here for nearly 7 years and I would never attempt an NI accent! Or a Belfast one!

LittleMissSnowShine · 12/08/2010 01:36

I was in California last summer for all of about 10 minutes before I adopted a horrible phony Americana accent so everyone could understand me lol

Bishoplyn · 13/08/2010 20:38

TLC - was working in Whitehead today and it was lovely. Can totally understand why you've fallen in love with it :)
Can we have a meet-up there soon??
Totally agree about that accent thread. Some people just don't want to listen....

TakeLovingChances · 16/08/2010 16:56

Bishoplyn we could do a Whitehead meet-up with a theme of 'find TLC a house' Grin

Just out of being v nosey, what sort of work were you doing there? Not an estate agent by any chance? Wink

Tee2072 · 16/08/2010 20:45

Darnit, lost the thread again...Grin

What's new?

booyhoo · 18/08/2010 17:23

hello all, i have been a bit neglectful of this thread lately, sorry about that.

so have we any definite meeting place for the 10th?

where is whitehead? don't think i know it.

Tee2072 · 18/08/2010 21:01

Hey booyhoo, how are you? Saw your kick me in the ass thread, I hope you're doing better now!

I think we agreed soft play at Connswater, yes?

bottyburpthebarbarian · 18/08/2010 21:05

10th sept can't wait

i will have no babies will they let me in??

Bishoplyn · 18/08/2010 21:06

TLC - wash your mouth out! Estate Agent!?! I couldn't sell snow to the Eskimos.
I work in the Health Service and was visiting a few folks who live there.
Booyhoo - Whitehead is a village on the Antrim coast between Carrickfergus and Larne.
In semi-seriousness, the Railway Preservation Society is based there. We could go on a steam train ride, have lunch and find TLC a house???

bottyburpthebarbarian · 18/08/2010 21:15

Bishoplyn - no one else interested in steam trains. You are a geek.

booyhoo · 18/08/2010 21:33

ooh, we have a steam train here in downpatrick. i keep promising to take ds on it. must get round to that.

Ok so softplay at connswater. what time? or has that yet to be agreed?
