I'm Southampton too!

swiperfox · 06/08/2005 16:29

hello!

Tommy · 06/08/2005 16:41

have we had this discussion before swiperfox? I can't remember! Where are you? I'm in Shirley

swiperfox · 06/08/2005 18:00

Could well have!! I'm in Bitterne - we've only lived here for a month - love it down here but i'm a bit lost!!

Tommy · 06/08/2005 19:12

why lost? Have you come far? How old are your children?
(This is Question Time didn't you know? )

swiperfox · 06/08/2005 19:15

lol we moved here from Just outside Andover but have lived in Reading my whole life. Until we moved here i'd never been to Southampton so it's all a bit new and i've no idea what i'm doing or where i'm going lol
I've got dd who is 3.7 and ds who's 13 months - how old are yours?

Charlee · 06/08/2005 19:17

i live in Emsworth - to far??

Tommy · 06/08/2005 19:43

DS1 is 3y8m and DS2 is 2 in a couple of weeks - should we have a little local meet up?
There is loads going on in Southampton but not at the moment in the holidays - typical - except parent & toddler swimming every weekday 9-10am at The Quays in town. We go there on Fridays.

Lonelymum · 06/08/2005 19:52

Tommy, is the Quays what they call the old pool down near the docks? I used to go swimming there before Winchester had its own pool! (pre 1974)

swiperfox · 06/08/2005 19:59

Ooh i couldn't do a cossie!!! lol sounds good though.... i need to figure out the buses into town from here - looks like a 2 bus job - bit stupid from 2 miles outside town lol

pinklilith · 06/08/2005 20:55

Lonelymum, where are you then?

OP posts:
Lonelymum · 06/08/2005 20:59

Oh no, nowhere near you now Pinklilith. I just grew up in Winchester and I know Tommy and I once knew the same person so I was hoping she realised I was from your area.

I do visit Winchester often though as my parents still live there. Take care of the old place for me! I wish I could afford to live there now!

Tommy · 06/08/2005 21:37

Yes Lonelymum - the Quays is what you and I used to call the Central Baths It's a bit different now !

Tommy · 06/08/2005 21:39

Sounds like I should get away more doesn't it?
Born and bred here and still here (although to be fair to me, I did try and escape and then came back )

Lonelymum · 06/08/2005 21:43

Tommy, way back then, we used to go every Thursday evening. Perhaps I used to see you there. Do they still have the windows where you can see into the deep end?

pinklilith · 06/08/2005 21:46

Lonelymum - Do you own your own home then? Prices are dropping if that's any comfort.

OP posts:
Lonelymum · 06/08/2005 21:47

Yes we do own our own home, but in Winchester that would be more like a garage than a house!

Tommy · 06/08/2005 21:47

We used to on Tuesdays after school! So no, we wouldn't have seen each other The windows have gone alas - god, I had some fun with those windows They were great weren't they?
They have a big flume now but DS is too small to go down so I don't know what it's like. I spend most of my time there behaving like my Mum and complaining about things and asking to speak to the manager....

pinklilith · 06/08/2005 21:50

lonelymum - yes prices are still steep, it could be years before I can afford to buy.

Tommy - Its amazing how you can start acting like your mother isn't it.

Aww I loved the windows! A real feature! Never seen them at any other pool. Fancy taking them away! Although I do have memories of imagining what would happen if the glass suddenly gave way under the pressure of all the water!

What about the diving boards? Have they gone too? I could only manage the little spring board.

Flumes are a bit scary TBH. They had them at our last pool and I was glad that ds1 wanted nothing to do with it and ds2 only wanted to go down the slow one!

dramaqueen72 · 06/08/2005 21:53

I'm in southampton too just up the road from tommy -I didnt know that tommy!- in Bassett.

Tommy · 06/08/2005 21:58
