January - I really want to go back to Cafe Continental in Durham! Any takers for coffee & cake?

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 09:01

How long's the non sleeping been going on?
(I know the answr could be "all her life" )

Chocaholica · 16/07/2010 09:03

Has anyone had any grief feeding in Durham? I never have and have fed in the usual places (mainly coffee shops...).

As I told Indith and Galactica, the only place I HAVE had grief was in the John Lewis breastfeeding room in Newcastle. With DD1. A man was sat in there feeding his toddler son a jar of babyfood, and he asked if I could wait OUTSIDE the breastfeeding room till he had finished feeding his son as he was uncomfortable with me feeding in front of him.

Ahem.

I add that I usually feed in the espresso bar in John Lewis and nobody bats an eyelid...

EasilyConfusedIndith · 16/07/2010 09:03

Yup around 18 months. A bit ago I stopped feeding her at night and she slept much better for 2 weeks, just waking a couple of times and even slept all nght twice. It was amazing

There is something bothering her at the moment I think though, has been spectacular even for her. Did I tell you the other night she was awake between 11 and 3.30? Drugged her last night and she was a little better.

How is A doing? She stopped taking tips from D yet?

LeggyBlondeNE · 16/07/2010 09:05

SPB - love it!

I'm sure I once saw a t-shirt saying 'My Mum's boobs are tastier than yours...'

EasilyConfusedIndith · 16/07/2010 09:06

No I've never had grief Choca, I don't tend to go to the chains which I suppose are a bit posher or at least have more people with laptops but Vennels, Leonards, Cafe Continental and so on are lovely.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 09:13

No, never had any comments - which makes it even stupider for me to use that slogan - I just like it

EasilyConfusedIndith · 16/07/2010 09:20

Ok I'm going to the park. If I can persuade ds to get dressed.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 09:23

Can we pop round at about 11? Is it OK to come to you? (have a letter to post)
If not please come here - either way I'll have cake

EasilyConfusedIndith · 16/07/2010 10:23

That's great

Been out, been blown about, children ahve picked and scoffed cherries.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 10:54

Just waiting for cake to finish in the oven, sorry

FrozenNorth · 16/07/2010 11:01

Bandstand sounds great. Twelve thirty?

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 11:16

to say I dont know where that is but otherwise fine
Setting off now indith, so sorry

FrozenNorth · 16/07/2010 13:12

Band-stand (hyphen? same word? who knows...) is by the river just the other side of the cricket ground. Quite near the statue of the ox (or it might be a bull?).

I've never had grief for bfing anywheere, ever. And I've always been psyched up with some good one-liners ('no, YOU put a blanket over YOUR head') but all I've ever got have been lovely comments, often women nostalgic for their own breastfeeding days.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 13:15

there's a cricket ground? And an ox statue?
And yes I have lived here for 7 years now, with 3 years pre that at university
Give me a nearby pub?

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 13:16

tbh the ox statue sounds very familiar I just can't place it...

EasilyConfusedIndith · 16/07/2010 13:20

SPB do you know where the old swimming baths were? Take the path along the river there.

StealthPolarBear · 16/07/2010 13:23

yay one I do know! Thanks

FrozenNorth · 16/07/2010 17:08

Hmm, what food should I bring? So there'll be how many of us (counts on fingers ...)
SPB
Indith
Me (FN)
My friend (probably)
I could bring some nice M&S chocolate muffins, and perhaps a quiche (wonders how practical quiche would actually be).

O God, am ruminating on quiche. Particularly the fact that I have a couple of 'emergency' quiches in the freezer. I have turned into, and then surpassed, my mother.

FrozenNorth · 16/07/2010 17:16

Re: slogan t-shirts, have been pondering some on lactivist.net recently: torn between 'I like milk from my mum not from just any old cow' and some of the others here

BouncingTurtle · 16/07/2010 20:03

I have an official Stockton Peer Supporter T-shirt!

confuddledDOTcom · 17/07/2010 02:26

There is a shop the Birmingham BFP organiser made with T-shirts

breastfeedingpicnic.spreadshirt.co.uk/

Intergalactic · 18/07/2010 19:56

This picnic sounds loads of fun, hopefully we will be able to make it. There was an option to get the hoover delivery guaranteed in the morning and I thought no, no need to spend a fiver for that - am really wishing I had now! Hopefully we will be able to make it anyway. Will bring some food if we are coming.

Have finally had a chance to read through the thread properly - Choco, sorry to hear your DD has been ill. I remember when it really snowed a few months ago we couldn't get out for a week and it was a nightmare, and that was without a newborn too - much sympathy! For those asking about getting it as an adult, I knew a guy at work who got it in his 30s and he said it was the most ill he has ever been, he was in bed for the best part of the week - and when he came back to work he was still all scabby so nobody wanted to go near him!

I met a really nice lady in the doctors last week, I was uncharacteristically confident and got her details, I told her where to find this thread so she may join us soon.

FrozenNorth · 18/07/2010 20:08

Hope you can make it Intergalactic, I'll keep my fingers crossed. I've recruited my friend and we'll be there. Really hope it doesn't rain!

stickylittlefingers · 18/07/2010 21:22

hi everybody - this picnic sounds fun, I hope you get good weather for it

I'm really sorry but will have to not come on Saturday night, if that was still being arranged. I do hope I can make the next one, it seems like ages since the last one I came on. Ho hum.

Anyway, hope you all have a good week...

spiggy · 18/07/2010 21:54

boo can't come to picnic cos I'm at work tomorrow but I'll be there in spirit

FN-I got one of the "I like milk from my mum..." T shirts for DS when he was about 5 months and the in-laws were accusing me of starving him as he wasn't having "proper milk". It was my secret weapon in the campaign to stop them greeting me every time I saw them with "hello, still starving my grandchild?" It worked. DP framed it for me and it now hangs on the wall.

Are we out on Saturday? I'll be there but am liekly to fall asleep in the corner as I'll have been at the Sunderland airshow all day. (DS obsessed about it)

Butterpie, off to hunt you down on FB as I want to see your dress!
