I've just seen the pictures on FB, you look wonderful

Are we all going to the wedding? Are we going to have a good MN gang? Butterpie I think we can come but BIL is getting married on the next day in Halifax and ds is in the wedding party so if we end up having to go down the day before then we'll have to miss it.

LeggyBlondeNE · 14/07/2010 18:12

Any day is good for me cake-wise at the Botanics (althuogh not mon-wed next week), just need to be told.

It's looking like it might be just me for this Friday, yes? (If it's grey and Indith can't bring the kids to run around). In which case a different day is fine.

Butterpie · 14/07/2010 19:23

It would be lovely to have a good MN contingent at the wedding

I'm actually getting really excited now!

geordieminx · 14/07/2010 19:39

(((de-lurks))))

LeggyBlonde NE - My aunt works walking distance from the botanical gardens.. has a .cem.dur email address??

Will definately try and get down to visit mum and get a day/night out with you lot - havent seen you in ages SPB

hAS ANYONE BEEN TO THAT NEW PLACE THAT HAS OPENED NEAr (oops) the Arnison Centre?

Intergalactic · 14/07/2010 19:43

I can't do tomorrow, I'm meeting a friend at Adventure Valley. Friday's forecast is for sunny spells and scattered heavy showers - would it be better to wait until next week? If I'm going to cancel my Grandma the latest I can politely do it is probably tonight or tomorrow morning... Will check back here in a bit to see what the consensus is. If we do decide next week then any day is ok for me, Wednesday I'll just have DS2 but that's not a problem.

EasilyConfusedIndith · 14/07/2010 19:54

Next week might be better. I'm afraid I just can't be arsed to spend 2 hours trekking to the botanics if it is going to rain.

geordie you must come out with us you talking about Adventure Valley? Most of us have been I think, tis ok.

FrozenNorth · 14/07/2010 19:55

Okay, shall we try for next Friday then for a wholesale cakey meet up and hope the weather's better next week? If that's not do-able then I'm free all morning except for Wednesday?

Butterpie · 14/07/2010 20:16

I've done a bookstall at Adventure Valley, I have some more booked in the next few weeks, it is lovely.

Intergalactic · 14/07/2010 21:11

Great, next Friday good for me.

Geordieminx, crossed posts, yes AV is the place near the Arnison, I really like it and have got the annual pass. The problem is it's really expensive otherwise (£8 for adults and I think £4/5 for over 2's) and as DS gets worn out after less than 2 hours there's no way I'd be paying the one-off prices.

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2010 23:15

a bookstall?? I didn't see any of those

StealthPolarBear · 14/07/2010 23:15

and yes GM it would be lovely to see you again I still picture C as a few months old, I'd imagine he's a bit bigger now

Butterpie · 15/07/2010 00:00

I'm a travelling bookseller- I swoop down, sell books, then leave in a puff of smoke

Or, in reality... this is my website

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 07:16

Looks fun!
I've been loads and never seen anyone selling books - will come and say hello next time Where is your stall?

I was the third person into Adventure Valley (my proud claim to fame) would have been the first but for T throwing a tantrum when I tried to wake him up when we got there

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 07:18

now browsing books...I do not need more

That said - are you the expert on which books at which ages? (I know you're thinking about HE so probably have a lot better idea than me). Might have to pick your brains

Chocaholica · 15/07/2010 08:03

Hi all

Been quiet because first DD1 decided she didn't want to wear nappies anymore (and weed nicely in the potty - but seems to no longer want to poo, ever... but that's another story) and then she caught chickenpox. So this week we are housebound - which was less bad when she was draggy earlier in the week and even on Tues when the weather was OK (garden) but by today she's full of energy but spots not yet crusted over, so we're getting serious cabin fever... Anyway didnt post as obviously couldn't make a meet up this week...

Adventure Valley: we have passes too. I really like it. I think it's expensive for a single day out if you have a toddler because if your toddler is like mine (she's 2, 3 in the autumn), you end up with an overtired toddler if you stay too long. For a child a bit older, it would be fine. Butterpie, when are you heading there with your books? I am a sucker for books. Oh and were you by any chance selling said books in Gosforth last w/e, or are there other northeast Usborne agents around?

DH is off work next Friday so probably doing stuff, but if not I'll come to the cake with DD2 (and let him go run around with DD1) - breastfeeding is a brilliant excuse for cake and feet up with the baby...

Oh and if anyone has any ideas for indoor activity for chickenpox infested 2 year olds, I'd be very grateful!

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 08:09

join the dots??
(sorry...)
where are you btw, can i come & rub my children against yours?

Chocaholica · 15/07/2010 08:46

We have played count the dots... so join the dots might be a good one...

I don't recommend it unless you enjoy a week of seclusion with two under threes. It turns out I am not cut out for it...

Butterpie · 15/07/2010 08:47

SPB- Of course you can pick my brains, I'm not exactly an expert, but I did literature at uni, worked in a library for years, HE and now sell books, so I know a bit My MIL was the children's librarian for all of Gateshead- possibly why we get on so well.

If you see anything on my site that you like, let me know as I can order it for you directly and avoid delivery charges and so on (plus I have access to special offers) Or I can always do you a home party if you want to see the books in the flesh and get free ones.

I'm next at Adventure Valley on the 24th and 25th of this month, and I'm usually in the soft play area with my stall. Come and say hi

It wasn't me in Gosforth, it was probably a member of my team. I'm slowly taking over the north :D

EasilyConfusedIndith · 15/07/2010 12:04

Can I join SPB with the child rubbing choca? That's a way of entertaining yourselves surely? Invite everyone who wants to get it out of the way over to play!

Actually I was in the park on Monday with 2 friends. Boy 1 had the pox a couple of weeks ago. Mum of boy 2 says she is amazed he hasn't caught it as they were playing together loads just before the spots appeared. Next day I get a text, yup, boy 2 has the pox. I am kind of hoping mine get it although then I'll get it. Hum.

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 12:12

I'm coming round when they do Indith!
We're in the same boat then - I haven't had it either which is my worry. Anyone know how likely you are to get it as an adult if your DCs have it, and how bad it would be?

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 12:14

I'm coming round when they do Indith! We have an adult with shingles coming over this weekend too, just to maximise the chances - want it over before I go back to work!

We're in the same boat then - I haven't had it either which is my worry. Anyone know how likely you are to get it as an adult if your DCs have it, and how bad it would be?

Glad she's getting better Chocaholica

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 12:16

erm...not sure what happened there, misuse of the back button I think, sorry!

Just been to sainsburys, was in for about 3 hours! When I left I couldnt remember where I'd parked - it felt like I'd got there the day before

EasilyConfusedIndith · 15/07/2010 12:16

Well at least we could be all ill and spotty together. Camp out at one of our houses with lots of cake and a pile of disney dvds for the dcs

EasilyConfusedIndith · 15/07/2010 12:17

at not knowing where you parked. I think that is the only real use for p&t spaces, it narrows the search down bit

StealthPolarBear · 15/07/2010 12:18

That is actually a really good idea (If I don't cancel on you at the last minute )
I have 2 weeks left - the 2 week chickenpox challenge! Luckily DH hasn't had it so there would be at least one well adult. Well I say that but no doubt he;d handily go down with man flu and retire to bed leaving me to apply my own spot cream, and the DCs.
