hi all - have started thread in an effort to get another meet up going.

so far those interested...
me
spot JJ tilly possibly
i'll ask turnip, too

i suggest meeting at the cafe in the middle of finsbury park - easy for cambridgers, good cheap food, possible to eat inside or have picnic outside.

let's think about mid may.

any takers?

Hi there, thanks v much for organising this, WG, can't wait to see everyone (and finally meet Tilly!)
I'm afraid midday is the start of my epic walk round the park (TM) for T's nap, so could either meet at 2 or if there are some brave souls who fancy accompanying me on the route march could see you earlier!

notjustanumber · 02/05/2009 19:53

Hi - thats a possiblity for me, if thats OK.
Could make it anytime in mid may, with 1DS mon-wed and 2DS thur and fri

Kimberly1979 · 02/05/2009 19:53

Hey WG I'd be interested in meeting up with you lovely ladies! I owe you a lunch anyway!

spotofcheerfulness · 03/05/2009 16:13

i've just realised you suggested mid-may, not midday! . How about a Thurs?

jumpjockey · 03/05/2009 21:27

hello! Yep I'm keen, we're away in Glesga for SIL's wedding 20th-24th but could do before or after then. Huzzah!

Turniphead1 · 04/05/2009 19:51

would love to!

spotofcheerfulness · 04/05/2009 20:17

How 'bout next Thurs? Guess that would be 14th?

waitinggirl · 05/05/2009 17:35

thurs 14th sounds great - is 1pm ok for ppl? spot - would that work for you walking T? does that suit the cambridge ladies? i may wait for turnip or someone who knows the park better than i to suggest a picnic location. if it is raining, however, let's meet (along with the rest of the world) in the cafe in the centre.

how does that sound?

OP posts:
spotofcheerfulness · 05/05/2009 23:20

I normally finish walking T at 2 so can come and join you wherever!
Btw, for all those who need to walk babies to sleep I have a great discovery: audiobooks!

waitinggirl · 06/05/2009 08:36

i second the audiobooks tip - only don't listen to revolutionary road as i did - beautifully written, but possibly the most depressing book i've ever read/heard. am moving onto cheerier podcasts now.

OP posts:
jumpjockey · 06/05/2009 21:04

Sounds good to me - will have a look at the photo on google world to see how the park works. Walkies - I now have an ipod mini thingy with lots of cheery tunes on, must seem like a nutter to random passersby as I burble away to myself semi-audibly

notjustanumber · 09/05/2009 19:50

Ok, I'll plan to be there (once I've worked out whats involved )

LadyThompson · 11/05/2009 10:31

Oh, that's this Thursday isn't it? As this is my week of exile, much as I'd love to see you I might have to say no. Then again, I may weaken by Thurs

waitinggirl · 11/05/2009 20:23

right, ladies - who is in? i am going to scope out fins park tomorrow for a picnic location, ignore the forecast for heavy rain, and become mrs cheery (to replace mrs grumblechops which i have been recently).

list at the mo:
me
JJ
NJAN
tilly
turnip
spot

kim is in the states and ladyt is probably in exile (how can we tempt you???)
will post another link on teh main thread to remind ppl

It has to be sunny, I've just found a waterproof=backed fleecy picnic rug that DH got as a 40th birthday pressie (?!) and we can put the babes on it and bugger off for a few bevvies sit around adoringly gazing at them frolicking in the dappled shade.

spotofcheerfulness · 11/05/2009 20:52

Heavy rain JJ news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2574

spotofcheerfulness · 11/05/2009 20:56

Sorry WG, I missed your instruction to ignore .

tillyfernackerpants · 12/05/2009 07:33

I won't be able to make it . Ds1 has swimming lessons on Thursdays over lunchtime. Because of ds1 we usually have something on every day, poor ds2 has to tag along!

Do you think we'd be able to do an evening meet one day?

artichokes · 12/05/2009 14:07

hi girls

how long do you think it takes on the Picadilly line from Hammersmith to Finsbury Park? And is the park near the tube station? I am temptedbto join you but fretting about logistics.

waitinggirl · 12/05/2009 16:12

arti - station is next to the park - prob 10 mins walk to find the cafe. tfl says 33 mins from hammersmith to f park. pls come!

didn't make it to the park today, but will tomorrow to search out poss good weather picnic spot, although it looks like we will be a select group (sorry you can't come, tilly - really wanted to meet you finally) and the cafe will prob do.

spot - you def coming? i'll get that bath ring out of the loft for you.

spotofcheerfulness · 12/05/2009 20:03

I am indeedy, thanks v much, T will be so pleased .

waitinggirl · 13/05/2009 16:09

ok, here's the plan. i will be at fins park for 1.30pm. if it is raining (or spitting), i'll be in the cafe, but if it is warm enough for a picnic, bring food and i'll be outside the cafe under the trees near the entrance to the Richard Hope Play Space (I think i've got the right name there, something like that, anyway). it's really near the cafe and near another playground thing with red posts.

to get there from the station, come out onto the station place exit, walk around the corner and up seven sisters road until you get to the entrance to the park. Follow the road up the left hand edge of hte park (i.e. not next to seven sisters road, but heading up the hill). before you get the barrier in the road which stops cars coming down it, turn right - the cafe and playgrounds are there and the richard hope play space (or wahtever it is called is on teh right there). pass the rhps and there is a glade of trees between the rhps and the red posted playground thing.

my directions are crap, sorry. if in doubt, my number is 07775 780038. looks like it will be me, spot, jj, njan (?) and possibly arti and ladyt if she is out of exile. i've met most of you before (not njan though). look at my profile to see what i look like - dark hair, glasses, tall.

do let me know if you can't make it - at least i'll have prior warning of being nobby no mates in teh park!

OP posts:
spotofcheerfulness · 13/05/2009 17:08

i should be there from 2. looking forward to it!

LadyThompson · 13/05/2009 17:20

Enjoy yourselves, girls. Nope, I am still in Wallis Simpson-style exile (not least because I can't get a lift to the station tomorrow). Sorry to be a party pooper! Next time.

jumpjockey · 13/05/2009 19:35

Splendid - see you there hopefully. Plenty of time for a lie in followed by not too busy train. Huzzah! Will call if we're not going to make it, so you don't fret that we've been kidnapped or some such
