London lunch or dinner in May?

bossykate · 09/03/2003 21:07

hello everyone

it seems like forever since the last big london meet up at the end of november.

just wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting up for lunch or dinner in may?

have to confess i have dates and venue in mind already!

dates...

lunch or dinner on sat 10th may

dinner on fri 23rd may
lunch or dinner on sat 24th may

i thought we might go to a turkish place i went to recently near oxford circus. for groups of 10+ they do a set menu for a cheap(ish) £18 per head. you get a good variety of starters to share, a choice of main courses and dessert, and there are reasonable vegetarian options.

based on views expressed before previous meets, i was thinking separate bills for food and drink...!

well, if that doesn't appeal there's always pizza express!

will look into it but i think their maximum group booking is 25, so if there is a lot of interest, it might be first come, first served - but i think i'm getting a little ahead of myself!

anyone up for it?

Dear BK

Well done, I can probably do any date as nothing planned that far ahead. Thanks.

Fionn · 09/03/2003 22:54

Bossykate - I can't do the first date as we'll be in Austria but the others are fine. I prefer dinner but as I've been to more than my fair share of meet-ups I can do lunch if that's what most people prefer!

Fionn · 09/03/2003 22:55

clucks (I'm following you on the threads here!) when is your baby due?!

SofiaAmes · 09/03/2003 23:07

oooh sounds like fun. Count me in. Any of those dates are fine as I have no social life at all. The 23rd is my birthday (my 40th no less) so I would expect at least a mini cake (or a piece of turkish delight with 40 candles) if it happens on that day.

clucks · 09/03/2003 23:38

Sofia, you really don't look it.

Fionn, I am due mid April, so hopefully by May I will be healed etc and radiant and maybe able to drink a bit.

ScummyMummy · 10/03/2003 01:52

Good idea. Yes please.

CAM · 10/03/2003 08:36

Add my name to the list, please BK

bells2 · 10/03/2003 08:45

Another vote for the 23rd or 24th (would prefer dinner too). The Turkish sounds great.

Marina · 10/03/2003 09:33

Thanks bossykate. Love Turkish food but would infinitely prefer dinner on the 23rd as we may be away that weekend.

tigermoth · 10/03/2003 12:31

I was wondering when someone was going to take up the gauntlet and organise another big meal.

I can make the 10th and 23rd May - but would prefer the 10th. I think half term is from 23rd May and we could be away all that week and the following weekend, making 31st May probably not possible either.

Dinner is better for me than lunch on those dates. Thumbs up to an Oxford circus and Turkish food venue.

RushingAround · 10/03/2003 13:20

Shame, I would've suggested joining SofiaAmes in celebrating 40th birthdays , as I'm planning a wicked w/e (with ds and dd in tow ) in London - but prob for 31st May. Ah well, hope to meet you all another time ... Enjoy yourselves, and don't do anything I wouldn't.

kaz33 · 10/03/2003 13:38

I would love to come and could do any date but would prefer dinner. I'm due on 30 May so may have to cancel if baby decides to make an early appearance...

prufrock · 10/03/2003 14:16

I would love to, but as dh and I will not be celbrating dd's b'day on her b'day I can't miss the Saturday as well. And for the two evening dates we will be at Mark Warner in Palerso village (my first ever package holiday)
Have fun

sis · 10/03/2003 16:14

Sounds good to me Bossykate - would love to meet up. At this stage, I can make any of the dates suggested (the highlight of our social calender for May so far is going to see Thomas the the Tank Engine at Chinnor!).

Thanks for organising BK.

Twink · 10/03/2003 18:10

Count me in too please Bossykate. Again, my social life is so frantic that I can make any of the dates

PS I promise not bring running shoes

willow2 · 10/03/2003 20:56

I'm in - prefer dinner to lunch.

bossykate · 11/03/2003 07:33

thanks to all who have replied so far i thought i would leave it until the end of the week to see what the consensus is and go ahead and make a booking.

anyone who is shy about putting their hand up for this on the board, if you send an email to [email protected] they will pass it on to me.

i am looking forward to this already!

Hi Bossykate - I'd love to come (I'm getting into the swing of this!). Dinner on 23rd or 24th would be my preference.

bossykate · 21/03/2003 14:29

hi everyone

think i just might get round to booking this at the weekend, so thought i would do a quick round up.

looks like dinner friday 23rd may would be the best, taking into account all the comments.

so far we have...

batters, clucks, fionn, sofiaames, scummymummy, CAM, bells, marina, tigermoth, kaz33, sis, twink, willow, NQWWW.
