Here is a fresh new thread

Andy - how're you getting on with DS and his teeth?

Browny - no sign of any symptoms here. Beginning to worry. Please remind me of this in a couple of weeks when I can't keep a glass of water down. I bet MS seems a distant memory to you now.

For legoland we are using Tesco vouchers. For hotel we are using DH's ICHotels reward card and he'll be down there with work and will drive us back so I only need train ticket one way, girls go free...voila - £17.50...bargain!! Well, we have to get something out of DH being away so much.

Anyone else entered the Costa Rica Trip Kenco competition? Just wondering whether I'd be allowed to go in my, er, condition. Might have to nominate one of you to take my place when I win.

andyrobo237 · 14/09/2008 10:45

jaamy - teething seems to have subsided - he is back to his usual mischevious self!! Apart from a cut lip and a few scratches - is attacking me with a Tigger pen at the moment!! Keps walking around going ' bounce bounce tigger' and doing the actions! I fear he will be an accident prone kid!

BL - hope you can manage to persuade this buba to leave your tum naturally! I still have some clothes here for DD, will try to get them to you in the next few weeks - there are some long sleeved tops in there as well!

Gotta dash - putting our freshly made bread in the oven and then going to Crosby to see the Cycle Tour of Britain flash past us!! DD wants to go for some reason - we can park at FIL's house and walk to the main road with little trouble (bonus being he is never there!!!)

Going to hosp for a varicose vein removal in my leg tomorrow so gotta starve from 6am tomorrow! Better stuff my face today as I need food!!!!

browny · 16/09/2008 09:30

Jammy, try not to worry too much, I'm sure that familiar queesy feeling will kick in soon, I think I was about 8 weeks when I started to feel absolutely shattered and couldn't even make a cup of tea.

Ds2 still loves school, although he does complain every morning about being "too tired", he checks his lunchbox every morning to see what he has packed for his lunch . Having the house so quiet is very, very strange and to be honest, all I've done is either nap, put the hoover around really, really quickly or mumsnet .

Nemo, how is your ds enjoying school, when does he go full time?

Biglips, hope you're o.k., thinking about you .

Hiya to everyone else!

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 09:46

I can remember with DD2 that I was worried like this at DD1's 1st birthday party. I would have been 8 weeks then. I told a couple of friends that I thought there was something wrong because I'd been so sick with DD1. But then I couldn't get out of the car when we went out for lunch for mine and my DB's birthday about 4 weeks later. I'm 7wks now so expect MS to kick in soon. Just hate all this waiting.

Bless your DS2 for checking out his lunchbox every morning. I have to grill DD1 for details of what she's had in school. Seems to be a bit lacking on the veggie front and she's really good at eating her veggies
Has your DD2 started secondary school this year?

browny · 16/09/2008 10:04

Jammy, there you go then, better get some goodness down you before you start throwing up . Dd2 didn't start secondary school this year, she has a very early September birthday so she just missed out, she has just gone into the last year of primary.

I know what you mean about grilling the little-ones for information, I ask ds2 what he does at school all day and he says "nothing". Maybe you could mention the school lunches when you have the next meeting with her teacher - I've got a parents' evening already next week .

MD - hope your dd1 settles into nursery (I think she started this week didn't she?) and that dd2 is still very happy with her new medicine .x

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 12:49

Browny - there's no rush for your DD2 to grow up, is there? LOL at DS2. If they do "nothing" all day, why do they come home covered in paint and felt tips?

The problem with the school dinners is that they get a choice. And DD1 is more than likely to pick whatever her friends are having. They are supposed to have 2 veggies but one of them always seems to be chips! DD1 was very careful to point out that "Chips are vegetables too!" Will investigate at teacher's meeting though am conscious of fact that it isn't their job to feed my child!

Already just stopped myself from having a go at the teacher for a silly reading pack they sent home. A reading book, a book for parents to fill in and 3 letters/sounds. We started with the letters/sounds s, a and t. DD1 is good with her letters but not so good at putting them together. By the time she gets to the last sound of a word, she's forgotten what the first one was! So she was so chuffed with herself to get the word sat. We moved on to the book and not only was there no sat in the book but not an s, a or t to be found!!!! Cue bolshie mum pointing this out at school, only to be told that every child had the same letters but all had different books. Just didn't make sense to me. Just a bit because they sent home the same parent's book and a book to read last year, explaining how parents should pick out letters/sounds and new words from the book, which I dutifully did each week. Now DD1 can actually read the words she wants to use them and the flippin' book doesn't even have the flaming word in it! Just doesn't make sense.

On a happier note, DD1 got "Star of the Week". The first one of the year for getting the most Stickers on her chart. [proud mummy emoticon]. SHe also gets to look after the class teddy bear for a week, which is apparently a very important job. See, it's a conspiracy. They are trying to stifle the genius that is my daughter!

browny · 16/09/2008 13:51

Jammy , don't think you've need to worry about your rising hormones, you've definately got the "protective mummy hormone alright"

I understand your frustration at the silly teachers though, my ds1 has been having extra help with his reading and brought home a book last week which was way too difficult for him, he did read some of it with me but it would have dented his confidence so much if he had to continue to read it. I put a note in his reading diary to ask if he could have assistance from his teacher when chosing his next book... so his confidence could be boosted and not dented!!

p.s. "protective mummy hormones" made me into a screaming fish-wife in July when the stupid school secretary screamed at my little ds2 for being in the playground after school , queue very annoyed mum and a lot of parents just staring open mouthed!. So be warned, you too could turn into a screaming lunatic for the next 7 months xx.

Nemoandthefishes · 16/09/2008 14:44

pmsl at you 2 being screaming banshees!!!

browny hope ds2 is enjoying school and bless him for being tired!!

Jaamy hope you are ok..next week you will be complaining about how ill you feel so make hay while the sun shines and all that!!!

Ds is still only on mornings this week but monday he goes all day. He had his first homework last thurs after being in 2 mornings and it was a blooming project on the robot spiderGood job we had pics etc and wrote a story about it and ds drew a big picture which he handed in yesterday. Having some peace today as PIL have taken ds and dd1 to blakemore so just C and I who is cuddled up next to me watching night garden...bliss

browny · 16/09/2008 17:20

Nemo, homework already , my ds2 has just brought home a little book for us to look at together so he could tell the teacher about it, don't think I fancy doing any 'projects' yet.. got enough to deal with, with the other three's homework problems!

Well, I've been to see the midwife this afternoon, blood pressure etc all fine and I'm measuring 32 weeks so that's spot on, but the baby is breech.. any tips please on how to get this little one to be head down? Going to get dh to pump up the birthing ball after tea, I think I've been slumped on the sofa far too much!

browny · 16/09/2008 17:50

What was I saying about my blood pressure???? Dd2 has just fallen out of a neighbour's tree and is sobbing.. her wrist is swollen and she's in a lot of pain. Dh has just taken her to the local walk-in but x-ray shuts soon, although the actually centre is open until 8pm, they're going to assess her and if she needs an x-ray they'll have to go to Alder Hey. And there was me planning an early tea tonight!

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 17:52

Oooh Browny - BL is the breach expert! She's started a few threads on the matter. But Don't bounce. I thought that if baby was breach, the worst thing you can do is bounce on a ball - just settles them firmly in that position in your pelvis. Best get on all fours so babe drops to front of tummy. Or go swimming, now that you've got all that spare time .

LOL at hormones - I cried at one of DD2's library books when we read it yesterday - Baggy Brown. It's not even a soppy story but does end with a new baby! Choked on it again today. Definitely hormonal!

Nemo - at DS's project. Can I have your PIL, PLEASE!

browny · 16/09/2008 18:03

Jammy, don't worry I won't bounce, was planning just to use it to sit upright and maybe wiggle a bit, looks like I'll have to close the curtains and get down on all fours, with bum in air... very dignified .

Oh, stop reading the books!! I was in tears the othe week watching Secret Millionnaire, stupid millionnair woman was crying giving away her money and I was crying too (and laughing at the same time), think I freaked the girls out a bit!.

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 18:19

Flippin' 'eck - I cry at Countdown these days! {blush]

Of course you won't bounce . You're kind of an expert on this having a baby mullarkey (meant in the nicest possible way).

browny · 16/09/2008 20:38

Still waiting for dd2 to come home from Alderhey, she had to wait an hour to be seen by a doctor and didn't have an ex-ray until 8pm, spoke to dh earlier and he said that she inhaled some morphine like drug for pain relief and was feeling sick , so they're still there waiting for the x-ray results.

andyrobo237 · 16/09/2008 21:25

Back from the hospital from my vein op - all well and very little pain - only mild discomfort mainly from the dressings drying and getting itchy! Feel a bit like an old woman taking to my bed today, but I was told to rest for 24 hours - very difficult with a 19 month old! Fortunately he was at the childminders today (and is all week apart from Friday) so I am getting some peace! SIL is visiting tomorrow and I am hoping she will bring chocs (as she usually does!! and I usually curse her as I am usually on a dier, but I am in need of choc today!!), then DH is back at work on Thurs. Bless him he went to my favourite butty shop in Crosby to ger me an Egg Mayo roll for lunch!!

Jaamy - hope you are ok and surviving - any sign of MS yet?

Nemo - that was mean of the teacher to give such hard homework so early on - maybe she wants to see which kids will get support with homework - we always do ours and get it in on time! I do hate it when DD says on a sunday night that she needs some info about xx for the next day as she has just remembered! I always ask her when she gets out of school in case she forgets!

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 21:58

Browny - sorry, I missed your earlier post about DD2. Hope she isn't in too much pain when she gets home to night and you all manage to get a good night's sleep. Sounds like you might have some company tomorrow. If she does have a break she'll be dying to get into school to get it signed!

Andy - enjoy your chocs - sounds like you deserve them. Hope leg continues to heal well.

I'm eating for 2...or 3...or 4 here so that's got to be a good sign. Though I think is more out of boredom than neccessity. Don't really have an appetite but always go beserk when DH is away.

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 22:06

Nemo - meant to say, do you fancy Ikea one am next week while older DCs are at school? We can lie about DDs age and get rid of them for 3/4 hour! Have Ikea card so we won't even have to pay for coffee/tea!!!!!

Anyone else up for it? MD? Browny - I can do taxi for you? BL - I guess you may be busy!!! Andy - Could you hobble along? SA2 - could you get a looooong coffe break??!! Ei, are you free at all? Anyone else???

I know IKEA's not very glam but it has a free creche!

Nemoandthefishes · 16/09/2008 22:10

browny hope dd2 is home and ok poor thing

andy make sure you make the most of resting up and a non SW week!!!

jaamy is dh anywhere exotic this week? Hope you are ok and promise I will phone soon but I keep forgetting..

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 22:12

Nah - only down south somewhere. I forget where. He gets very annoyed with me but I just can't keep track. I know he's meeting up with the guy who was his best man tonight so I don't feel too sorry for him!

browny · 16/09/2008 22:32

Hi, quick update before I fall into bed, dd2 has broken her wrist, the magic medicine that she inhaled wore off an hour ago, so she's just had paracetamol and ibuprofen... I don't think it will work for long though, so I'm taking her medicine upstairs in case she wakes in the night.. poor little thing didn't know what to do with herself when she came home, but said the magic medicine was "cool". Well, I'm off to bed now... the packed lunches will have to wait until morning xx.

Jaamy · 16/09/2008 22:34

Sleep tight Browny and DD2. Hope that maybe she'll be so worn out that she may get at least a few hours sleep.

biglips · 17/09/2008 10:46

browny - hope DD2 is ok? poor thing!.

Jaamy - you may not get any queasy signs in this pg but its too early to say as with DD i had none whatsoever...just the tiredness and that was all....but this one ive had literally everything!!!!

ive noticed that im not much of a emotional person in both of my pg, apart from when my DD was driving me up the wall in my early stages of pg and i just burst out crying! But ive been a luntic in the first 3 months as was threatening to throw Dp out as i just didnt care as he wanted to go out with his mates...how selfish of me!!! .....i was exactly the same as when i was expecting DD...and dp was expecting it too!

no i really have to leave the IKEA day out for now...i can just about to walk round now with the blardy painful contractions that had gone worse since Monday....im 5 days overdue now.

Yes about breech babies....dont bounce on the ball or you will wedge it into the pelvis and it may not turn round.
