HeppyChick · 29/02/2008 20:28

Congratulations Knickers.

Wilkie - Marsh is not the best, alright for students but...

Lindley is lovely! Up and coming but again not sure it's families. My DH recommends:

Bradley
Almondbury
Honley
Kirkburton
Shelley

Wilkie · 29/02/2008 20:30

Hi Heppy. Thanks! We need to be close to the motorway which is why we chose Lindley. What about the others? Are they close? What about Birkby and Fixby?

(sorry for Q's!!)

HeppyChick · 29/02/2008 20:31

Congrats Wilkie re: your husband's job - have sent you an email.

Evening all...

HeppyChick · 29/02/2008 20:33

Yes, really nice! Birkby and Fixby are perfect.

hiccymapops · 29/02/2008 21:24

Congrats Knickers I'm sooooo jealous

Glad you all had a good time today

fatzak · 01/03/2008 08:00

Congratulations Knickers

Have e mailed you Wilkie!

MmeCellophane · 01/03/2008 08:43

Congrats Knickers!

Wilkie - Lindley is very nice - the Infant and Junior schools are excellent but consequently, house prices are elevated.

There's loads of new building work going on - not sure how that will affect schools, but there certainly should be plenty of houses!

I think it is a good place for families; only draw back is the local playground which isn't great (think broken glass and litter). There are a few problems with youths hanging round the village centre at night - but that's probably true of a lot of places these days

MmeCellophane · 01/03/2008 08:46

Oh, and Lindley has everything you need - late night convenience stores, excellent shoe shop for children's shoes, children's bookshop, library, gift shop, card shop, greengrocer, 3(!) butchers, excellent, helpful chemists, cafes/delis, restaurants.... can I sell it any more?

MmeCellophane · 01/03/2008 08:53

Fixby is better than Birkby.

Be careful if you are looking at modern houses at Bradley - the ones on the new (ish) estate there have an obligatory annual membership of the swimming pool there, iirc.

fatzak · 01/03/2008 09:26

Ah bonjour Madame C! Have just e mailed Wilkie - I was hoping that you would see her posts!

How are you? All hectic here, hope to catch up with you soon

hiccymapops · 01/03/2008 09:40

Morning all

DH is working this morning, so i'm having an exciting morning cleaning up
I've spent most of the bloomin morning wiping munchkins toys with babywipes, as he likes to share his drinks with the living room! Where can you but those self cleaning toys? What an exciting life i lead

Hope you're all having a more interesting day than me!

hi all. Hiccy, I spend a lot of time chipping dried rusks off DS's toys and the sofa. Great fun, yawn!

hiccymapops · 01/03/2008 09:52

That was supposed to be 'buy' self cleaning toys! I still haven't learnt to read through things before i post them!

itsahardknocklife · 01/03/2008 10:12

I read it as 'buy' anyway and I wouldn't have noticed the typo if you hadn't pointed it out

Wilkie · 01/03/2008 11:40

Hello! Well after ringing every single agent in bloody Huddersfield and a few tears of frustration, I have got 2 properties in Lindley to view on Weds pm!! Fingers crossed. I have a small bubble of excitement in my tummy now (actually, it could be wind I suppose )

...can't wait to meet you girls. You are all so nice!

Thank you for the emails too.

School is a little way off for DS yet as he is only 13mo but we want to buy after renting for 6mo so it is good to know!

fatzak · 01/03/2008 12:45

Hope you have some luck Wickie. Off the top of my head, did you call
Forward (based in Marsh)
Simon Blyth
Ryder and Dutton
Cornerstones (although they may deal mainly with my side of huddersfield)

Dh has a property which he lets through Forward. He used to deal with a small company called Maison Let based in Hudds who might worth a call. There's also an independant agent called John Oxley who I know does let in that area.

Just thought they may have something on their books!!

trace2 · 01/03/2008 18:16

fatzak what happened with ds? is he ok?

fatzak · 01/03/2008 19:20

Hi trace. He finally had his sleep deprived EEG (had to cancel the last one as it was arranged for the afternoon which was ridiculous!) He was so good, sat really well whilst they fixed on the electrodes, just jumped into bed and fell asleep!! And thankfully he did have one of his falling asleep episodes, so hopefully they may have more of an idea what is happening.

How are your two trace? Hope DS has recovered from his nasty illness.

Had an awful shock today - my parents' neighbour who was only in her 40s died suddenly She has two boys who are 10 and 12 and my heart just goes out to them

itsahardknocklife · 01/03/2008 19:55

Fatzak, glad the EEG went well and I hope they get a bette understanding of what is going on.
Awful news about your parents' neighbour.
