Babywearing slingmeet tentatively planned for:

Thursday 27th December 2.00pm - 4.00pm

Hawthorn Community Centre
The Green
Hawthorn
Co. Durham

It is very close to Dalton Park Retail Park off the A19.

Come along if you would like to know more about babywearing, try out a few different types of slings and get advice from a few established babywearing mums.

Our last slingmeet was at Antioch House, Durham City in November.

it is thurs 21 feb from 2 - 4 pm in hawthorn, for the moment. I am wondering if I made it somewhere more central like Sunderland, if that would get more people there. I am in contact with someone at the nct who says she will let people know. must follow her up this weekend as I haven't heard back from her for over a week since i last emailed her with info.

Maybe, I would be happy to travel to Sunderland - in fact I ended up doing my NCT AN classes there as there wasn't a teacher in my area, in fact none of the other ladies who attended lived in Sunderland, we were all from North Yorkshire!
I go to a few NCT things in Stockton - I could spread the word if you wish?
I've tried getting ds into my coory and carry but he is not having it but I think I'm doing it wrong and now I've lost the instructions!!

kiskidee · 09/02/2008 08:13

right. then i will contact the church which the nct uses for their toddler group as it is on the A690/durham rd just off the A19 so very convenient.

yes, please tell others at your nct group in stockton. it is a fantastic way to develop interest. I will post by early next week if it is deffo in sunderland at this venue i am thinking about or in hawthorn.

Both churches on the A690/Durham Road, Sunderland are busy on that whole WEEK! So I am reverting to the Community Centre in Hawthorn.

Same day, same time.

Directions From Durham City:
Take the A690 East to Sunderland for 9 -10 miles
At the big roundabout with lights signposted to Doxford Park, etc, get in the right lane which will be Signposted to the A19 Southbound (Teesside, etc.)
Travel the A19 for approx 5 - 7 miles you are now looking for the B1285 which is signposted to Murton and is also the exit to Dalton Park (but I don't think it is signposted with that on it.)

now this will sound complicated but in practice it is actually very simple. I promise.

coming off the A19 you have to go right around 3 roundabouts which are all about 200 metres apart.

After the 3rd roundabout you need to travel about another 200 meters and turn right onto the B1432 which is signposted Cold Hesledon / Hawthorn / Easington.

Follow the B1432 for about 1.5 miles and take the first left, then the first right. this is the road that the Community Centre is on. If you get to the pub on your left, you have gone about 30m too far.

From the South:

Up the A19 to the exit signposted to Easington village (this will be the turnoff before Dalton Park)
Turn left at the roundabout signposted for the B1283, pass under the flyover and continue past the Church which will come up about 1/2 a mile on your right. Going past the church, take the next left which will be signposted to Hawthorn (the B 1432).

Follow the B1432 for about 1.5 miles. Take the first right, which is West Lane. Follow West Lane till you get to the Stapylton Arms (on your left). Take that left and you are pretty much at the Community Centre now.
