Hi everyone! My name is Emma & I've signed up as my close friend has just given birth to a beautiful baby boy. Mother & tot are both doing great but as her partner left before the birth I'm slightly worried about her becoming isolated. As such I'm hoping to pick your brains for tips on Post-Natal support and/ or Mother & Baby groups in Glasgow, preferably around the Cardonald/ Ibrox area.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Nice to meet you all,

Emma.

ReneeB · 26/08/2008 20:39

hey emma, am also fairly new to mumsnet! am living just near bellahouston park with husband and 17mth old son, but as im a sahm i have a lot of spare time most days, and attend a playgroup in hillington (a friends mum used to take her granddaughter, and now i go along with her with my son). havent been for a few weeks now due to various things, but it has quite a few older kids, ie 3ish, as well as some younger bubs. not sure of any other groups closer to cardonald/ibrox but would also be interested to hear of any groups! will keep an eye out for anything! also, i tend to walk round bellahouston park a lot, and could always do with some company!!

Hiya need some reccomendations of things to do in the south side with under 5s.

geordieminx · 31/08/2008 18:39

Tramway is usually pretty good?

There are a few MN'ers on here in th Southside - I'm in Lanarkshire.

Jacs008 · 01/09/2008 12:34

There's also the Busy Bees craft studio (82-84 Niddrie Road, Glasgow, G42 8PU, www.busybeescraftstudio.co.uk/). Diane and Elaine are both very helpful and seem to really enjoy what they are doing. I'm in East Kilbride which is handy for the SS but South Lanarkshire council also have lots of bat, ball and bounce type classes dotted over EK. These start from 18months and have been quite good as well as reasonably priced.

giraffescantdancethetango · 01/09/2008 20:49

Thanks I am a westender and have no idea about south side

vio · 02/09/2008 19:04

Hi ladies, can you suggest a few restaurants? a very good friend of mine is visiting me from Hong Kong next week and will stay with me for a few days. We want to go out for dinner one night, can you suggest a good restaurant for 2 girls?

Also, DH's birthday on 26th so want to go to a good restaurant to celebrate his bday, any suggestion?

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/09/2008 21:08

Hellooooo - anyone still around? Have been AWOL for a while. Was in Oz all summer with no internet then staying with folks cos had moved out of my flat. Have finally moved in to new place & online at last.

So what did I miss?

My news - I am pregnant again with baby number 2 AND 3 due in Jan!!!! HEEEEEELLLPPP!

vio · 05/09/2008 21:43

baby number 2 & 3? you expecting twins?

vio · 05/09/2008 21:52

congratulations Tallullabelle . by the way.

My next door neighbour's twin girls were born 2 weeks ago and they are adorable, so tiny but very cute.

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/09/2008 08:49

Thanks Vio. Yep will be a real handful, especially with DD of around 18 months. How are you keeping ?

geordieminx · 06/09/2008 08:57

Wow!!!! Double congratulations TB!!

How many weeks are you now? Do you know the sexes yet?

God - what are you going to do about a buggy

midnightexpress · 06/09/2008 09:30

Yeay congratulations tallulah - fantastic news! One of my friends has twins and a bigger one with about the same age gap - they turned one in the summer and she's finding that it does get much easier quite quickly so I'm sure you'll be fine. Does this mean you'll have to move again?

And how are you Vio? You must be due quite soon now? Is it Oct?

Oh no, I'm getting broody. Will have to go and separate bickering toddlers play with my children to calm me down.

We must get together soon guys. It's been ages.

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/09/2008 11:16

Thanks for congrats GMM & Midnight. Think I'm still in . Am about 20/21 weeks now. Have no idea about buggy, that very question has kept me awake night after night. DD too wee for buggy board & no way I want to lug a triple around. What did your friend do Midnight? Am thinking will just never leave the house. And yes new house already too small but no option to move. Will just have to all squeeze in. Come see me in Jan Midnight - that'll cure your broodiness

midnightexpress · 06/09/2008 16:08

Not sure actually tallulah - will enquire - I guess a double and a sling will work for a few months at least and then maybe dd will be OK on a buggy board. Though if ds1 is anything to go by, perhaps not. He's nearly 3 and still a right lazy so-and-so (unless you want him to be in the buggy of course).

Oh, and staying in with hordes of toddlers decidedly bad idea IME. Perhaps you could turf them out and stay in youself though...

geordieminx · 06/09/2008 19:06

Tallulah - friend of mine was in similar position - Jane Powertwin and a sling. 2 car seats for the powertwin (the new ones lie completly flat so can babies can be in them from birth no probs) for when you just have babies, front seat and car seat and sling for when you have all three. Perhaps a cheap stroller for when you are out with DH?

geordieminx · 06/09/2008 19:07

Oh and probably a re-mortgage on your flat to cover all this!

Do you know whether they are girls/boys/ne of each?

Jacs008 · 06/09/2008 22:16

wow congrats tallula , that's great news. I too would think about the double buggy and the sling (though I've seen pictures of mammas with twins in slings, one on the front and one on the back ).

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/09/2008 22:44

Can't imagine carrying 2 slings - guess would do wonders for getting back in shape. Maybe a Phil & Ted for DD & one bub, t'other bub in sling for first few months anyway. Hopefully by then DD able to cope with buggy board. Would P & T suit 2 babies of same age as well as baby & toddler or even 2 toddlers for that matter?

midnightexpress · 07/09/2008 12:10

P&T would be OK for two toddlers the same age but not two babies (newer models might be different but mine wouldn't work for a 2nd newborn because you can't lie the additional seat flat) - I think the Jane Powertwin might work better, as Geordie suggests.

geordieminx · 07/09/2008 18:45

I think the only 2 tandem pushchairs are the Powertwin and the Icandy Pear?
