The Mumsnet Xmas party will be in the evening (8pm I guess?) at Latin Square and Club Havana in Farringdon Road, Clerkenwell

VENUE

Details here of the venue. We have exclusive use of the restaurant for the whole night, we can use the cocktail bar too and get free entry to Club Havana all night. I have been and checked it out, my review is here

FOOD

Cost - £26 to include a tip
The food is the Xmas menu, we have chosen:

Starters

Smoked salmon and asparagus - smoked salmon wrapped asparagus spears served with cream cheese
Goat?s cheese salad - with rocket leaves, Goat?s cheese, tomato and olive oil vinaigrette
Selection of Cured Meats - A selection of cured Spanish meats with manchego cheese and melon
Vegetable skewers - Lime-flavoured char-grilled seasonal vegetables with fresh basil, olive oil and balsamic vinegar
Spanish omelette - A traditional Spanish potato and onion omelette
Turkey Breast & cranberry sauce - Turkey breast wrapped with Serrano ham served with cranberry sauce

Mains

Mix Sea Food - Deep fried seafood mix served with lemon, sea salt and aioli
Chorizo - pan fried in red wine sauce
Paella rice with chicken - Traditional paella rice with chicken and traditional herbs
Quesadillas Fiesta - Grilled tortilla parcel with vegetable mix and double cheese filling served with sour cream and salsa mexicana
Spare ribs - pork spare ribs in a hickory bbq sauce
Stuffed Bell Peppers - stuffed with rice, tomato sauce and authentic herbs topped with buffalo mozzerella

Pudding choices (you must choose one)

  1. Organic mango and coconut cheesecake
  2. Lemon meringue pie with a scoop of strawberry ice-cream made with double cream
  3. A shot of Christmas Slammer made with our imported tequila to get you in a great party mood (as opposed to English tequila one presumes)

BOOZE

No booze is included. You have to order and pay for whatever you want on the night

All come on platters to share served at tables.

PAYMENT (for new people signing up and those who have not yet paid)

IF YOU HAVE PAYPAL

  • Pls send £27.08 (NOT US Dollars which is the default) to countessdrac at gmail dot com. This is £26 + 3.4% plus £0.20 GBP which is what I will be charged to use this.
  • Ensure you put your MN posting name in there somewhere so I know who it is from.
  • Pls post on here to say you have paid and post your choice of Pudding (choices at bottom of this post) at the same time.

IF YOU HAVE A BANK A/C FROM WHICH YOU CAN MAKE A DIRECT TRANSFER EG INTERNET OR TELEPHONE BANKING

  • Pls email me at countessdrac at gmail dot com, I will send you sort code and a/c no which is all you need to make a transfer.
  • Pls post on here to say you have paid when you make the transfer and post your choice of Pudding (choices at bottom of this post) at the same time.
  • Pls ensure you tell me the name of the bank a/c that you are transferring from so I can identify your payment. If you are transferring from Halifax pls tell me as I don't get ANY details of who the payment is from, so will need to look out for your payment.

I will post details of who is coming....

I am so looking forward to this. It will be a very rare night out which will not only involve meeting all you guys, who, increasingly over the years, rightly or wrongly, have become my social life, my main support, a large part of my life, and in many cases my friends.. but it will also be an unheard of chance to let my hair down with my sister and my best friend. This never happens. If we ever^ go anywhere (not usual!), BF is our babysitter (only person we can trust with DS's SNs) and my sister's life is in London.

This is the one shining light to look forward to in the whole miserable and unaffordable nightmare that will be Christmas no doubt (she says pessimistically but realistically!) and I am being so decadent in coming.. .. but I just don't care.

I am going to be hugely nervous, as never been to a MN Christmas Meetup before.. but mostly I am excited.

And now I will stop. I am waxing faaaarrrr to lyrical for a dull Monday morning

Is anyone coming from SW London area? Balham, Clapham, Battersea? If you are and want to go together and share cab home, that would be fab.

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 16:19

Nappies, were you dancing on the chairs last year?

Heathcliffscathy · 05/11/2007 16:19

was she.

ExpLEUSIveS · 05/11/2007 16:30

Well, she said "at least sophable will dance on the chairs with me again..." so I was thinking hmmm I don't think I remember nappies. I remember CD and I remember you,Sophable, but I was just wondering if nappies was there too. It's all a bit hazy you know....

Heathcliffscathy · 05/11/2007 16:47

she was there, with her sis. was on sofas for some of it too.

the cocktails were STRONG last year. and the only way to cope with the huge wait was to line them up....that's my excuse anyway!

CountessDracula · 05/11/2007 19:33

yy
but did you not realise you should line them up on the table and not in your stomach?

Well the cocktails this year will be shite but fast

Oh essbee, why ever not?

Wilbur · 06/11/2007 11:38

starrystarrynight - I'm in Balham. How were you planning to get to the restaurant? Trying to think if there's any point in agreeing to meet at Clapham Junction, but then it's prob easier for both of us on the tube. We could get a cab partway home together though.

StarryStarryNight · 06/11/2007 12:56

Balham is abit out of the way. We could meet at Clapham Junction, tbh, I have not really thought about how to get there yet.... Lets see nearer the time if if is convenient or not.
