oh and does the min spend include food?
would we have to pay for a dj?

zippit · 02/08/2007 10:19

it's got a dartboard and a big screen, could show something interesting on that

eleusis · 02/08/2007 10:38

Vampire needed here

IntergalacticWalrus · 02/08/2007 11:04

Has anything decided whats goingh on yet? Can't be mithered to read all the posts [lazy]

eleusis · 02/08/2007 11:07

Not really. Discussing alternative venues. CD has found a Latin bar/restaurant and Beetroot has found a nice venue near St.Pauls. Both seem reasonably prices and look fun and have food I might like to eat. But still working out some details.

As far as I know, the date is still 1st Dec.

Beetroot · 02/08/2007 11:12

As far as I can tell so far we would get both rooms. One for dancing and one for quiet. Which would be great.

I am waiting to hear back about food/ DJ/ and set price includes the food.

I have asked for a £15 per head buffet - and shall see what they come up with.

Not sure what price the drinks are though

IntergalacticWalrus · 02/08/2007 11:15

Ok, I shall put December 1st in my diary!

I'll have to strengthen my drinking arm before then too [lightweight]

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:02

UPDATE ON LATIN SQUARE AND HAVANA CLUB

Spoken to them
We can have the restaurant (seats 100) privately for the whole evening. The music is not too loud but he said if we find it so they will turn it down as obv we have the whole thing. We can keep this all night for the non-dancers.

We can start in the Cocktail bar, they have happy hour 6 til 9pm, we can all mingle and chat, there will be plenty of room

Their xmas menu will be in the region of £22 per head, no hire fee. We can all pay for our drinks as we order them or they can include some as people require.

We all get free entrance to the club which will also be open to the public. It is accessible from the restaurant.

I think this sounds like fun as those of us who want to dance won't be all on our own, more fun in a club setting really.

NOW

If anyone is up for this option I can go next thurs as i said. If you all think it sounds vile then I won't bother!

Have a look at the photos at the bottom and tell me what you think

IntergalacticWalrus · 02/08/2007 12:04

Actually CD that sounds pretty good.

I think the no hire thing is good because there will be people who don;t want to/can't afford to eat.

Sounds ok to moi

hunkermunker · 02/08/2007 12:05

Will the food be a sit-down meal or a buffet?

Will we need to order from a menu beforehand?

Sounds pretty fab, actually, CD.

Yes, go and check it out. Take Marsy though, or she'll whinge

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:07

They can do buffet or sit-down as we require

(i hate buffets personally but will go with the majority opinion)

I agree that people who can't afford to won't have to eat however we will have to have a reasonable no of people who are prepared to or we won't have enough to get the restaurant privately

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:08

Re ordering the food, I think we choose a selection of tapas, 6 starters and 6 mains and they are all put out on platters to share. So we could get something that everyone agreed on incl veggie options. They sounded very flexible and will basically do whatever we want

IntergalacticWalrus · 02/08/2007 12:09

£22 a head sounds pretty reasonable.

Also, there are a high number of people coming from outside That London, me included, who will probably want to eat. so I odn;t thinkthat will be too much of a worry

(YES, ladies, there are Mumsnetters OUTSIDE LONDON!!!!) [WINK]

Beetroot · 02/08/2007 12:09

CD. That sounds good.

I am away until Sunday.

I will let you know the details when the woman gets back to me and maybe we can make some decisions next week.

But yours sounds perfect so perhaps it is the way to go - ?

Although Ilike the idea of two rooms

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:11

Yes
We would have 3 rooms here

The restaurant which is all ours all night
The Cocktail bar which we can use all night
The club which we can use all night

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:12

I love the sound of Ochre too
My only issue with it is that if there are not enough of us we may rattle around in it what do you think?

Plus extra dj etc complications
but not a prob really

latin sq would be easier and cheesier but maybe not to everyone#s liking I don't know

Beetroot · 02/08/2007 12:14

I think you are right.

Will wait to hear fomr her anyway and let you know on Sunday night all the details. Just so we have covered all the bases.

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:14

OK
will endeavour to move team piss up to there
(a bit selfish but hey)

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:15

We prob need a posse of the City gals to check out Ochre too...

Beetroot · 02/08/2007 12:19

yes that woudl be a grteat idea. Let me see what she comes back with and then we can move it on on Monday.

Am off camping (and it is raining)

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:22

ah but will be nice weekend I believe
have fun!

hunkermunker · 02/08/2007 12:23

I don't like buffets either. This sounds fine and I plan to eat!

CountessDracula · 02/08/2007 12:29

twin rooms in travellodge £71 for that night currently

the Comfort Hotel is £50 for a twin and about £5 in a cab I should think

Beetroot · 02/08/2007 12:32

The food spend would be included in the
minimum spend and most places have music systems where you can connect an
ipod or play your own music.

However if you wanted a DJ there would be an
extra cost or you might have to book your own.
