CD - why dont you go away and come back with a room above a pub that will hold 70 people on the date we want

provide a buffet - and how is it going to be paid for?

and get a dj in - and how is it going to be paid for?

when youcome back with this option - all the details after having rung around - perhaps we can consider it.

as i don't know london - i can only go off a website - and if i remember corrctly the last two options of a pub i mentioned were poo - pooed.

so you do the legwork CD and ew will comment on your choice.

i think i've heard of that place..they have urban social nights there i think

JeremyVile · 01/08/2007 13:18

'Urban social night' - lol. why dont they just call them 'human interaction solutions' and have done with it!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 01/08/2007 13:23

Look, there have been lots of "why dont we's", and suggestions. But not an awful lot of 'doing'.

Custy has been off, found out information and come back with it. I'm happy with the Hilton. Most of the folk who have put their name down are too.

Can folk stop bumping this thread with 'ifs' 'buts' and 'maybe's' and just come back with cold hard facts?

This is getting tremendously boring now.

If you want to have little meet ups - you can do that any time of year. In fact - you do already. By having these little groups beforehand you are effectively excluding some folk, making them feel left out, and not getting into the spirit of what the meet up is for in the first place.

If you dont like big groups - just dont come!

I will happily sort finances.

I will accept paypal payments (will find out how much commission is charged for me to draw funds).

I will accept cheques, but, they must be well in advance, not postdated and you will have to CAT me.

I will not accept cash on the day. Simple as that.

I will post further information of how you can paypal/send a cheque to me if everyone is happy for me to take charge of this?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 01/08/2007 13:26

oooh i crossed posted with you there custy.....

zippit · 01/08/2007 13:27

VeniVidiVickiQV · 01/08/2007 13:30

Oh, and I wont be drinking my wine,

MrsRecycle · 01/08/2007 13:32

VVQ - that's good - more for me and Essbee

hunkermunker · 01/08/2007 14:55

I won't be drinking my wine either, but Marslady's already commandeered it.

(She hasn't, but she will... )

Hilton's fine by me too.

Tortington · 01/08/2007 14:56

i didn't realise you had to have 'dibs' on other peoples wine. dammit.

marslady prefer white wine i wonder?

hunkermunker · 01/08/2007 14:58

iMum · 01/08/2007 15:08

Just seent this thread and would like to come too-Im in Saarfend so just a short trip up on the train for me.
Let me know when, who and how much to paypal.

CountessDracula · 01/08/2007 15:09

ok I have a suggestion in Clerkenwell, Latin Square and Havana club here

Would have to go and check it out I reckon (unless anyone has been there) but it sounds great fun and has good reviews. You can reserve it at weekends with no hire out fee PLUS there is a club that plays all sorts by the sounds of things, it sounds ideal. Those who want to dance can, those who want to chat can have some relative peace and quiet

Has a private function room for up to 100 with its own bar, lots of tapasy menu options for parties, cheap and two for one cocktails etc.

Reviewplus customer reviews at the bottom (link to them)

more reviews rather conflicting about how busy it is on a sat. It does say loud music but if we have our own room presumably we can control this.

I will pay the deposit for the food if one is necessary and everyone can send me money if they want (paypal or chq).

if anyone fancies it I can go and check it out after work one night (any volunteers to help>!)

MarsLady · 01/08/2007 15:14

I'll come with you CD particularly if it's one of the " R&B ? HIP HOP REGEATTON " nights! Of course they can't spell Reggaeton... but as long as they play it I'll be in heaven.

Obviously I'll only be going with you for the purposes of quality control and won't be enjoying myself boozing and dancing!

CountessDracula · 01/08/2007 15:15

nice one mars!

The website is pretty awful but it looks fun
and the reviews all say it's fun
we do WANT fun don't we

eleusis · 01/08/2007 15:18

Oh, when is the pre bookin check it out meet-up? I'm in.

CountessDracula · 01/08/2007 15:23

well I'm not going to check it out if no one is interested and they just want to go to hilton

eleusis · 01/08/2007 15:29
Sad
Carmenere · 01/08/2007 15:33

That does look like the type of cheap and cheesey, boozy fun that may be required for the meet-up CD, good call

MarsLady · 01/08/2007 15:37

CD... we must go check it out anyway!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't you dare dangle that carrot and rip it away!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
