I suggested the White Hart. Nothing is good enough for anybody, it would seem. And NOBODY is able to come up with any valid or worthwile suggestions, not even those who seem to be most picky.

And this personal slanging match arising from somebody TRYING to come up with something to please those who are simply impossible to please just proves the original point: HILTON!

I don't understand why £35 for a night out with food and a glass of wine is too much....I'm not rich and it sounds like a bargain to me if it is in a venue where we can speak to each other too.

Starry, we are trying to discuss things before we settle on a venue, which may well still end up the Hilton. But, give the discussion a chance.

Yesterday it was too early to even thing about settling on dates, and today suddenly the decision seems to be urgent. I think if we discuss a bit and come to aplan in say a week's time it is still plenty of time for collecting money and booking.

How about here www.bbarlondon.com/?id=1 It is very central so near all sorts of accomodation, it has a great cocktail list and it has private rooms that can accomdate up to 80 for dinner. The sample menu has 2 courses for £20 or 3 for £25 and has veg options

Oh, looks nice Carmenere. I think it ticks a lot of boxes. Easy transport links, lots of nearby hotels, reasonable prices, they even have the word "vibe" for CD.

It's a huge improvement over Hilton. HUGE.

It's hard to comment on drink prices since we don't know what they are at the hilton. But drinks are not usually cheap at hotels.
