Hi Paddle

Congrats on getting the mortgage sorted!
KC put this link on last week www.elc.co.uk/page-10

Will be good to see you and DD again

Kewcumber · 13/08/2007 14:27

think I will probably go if the weather isn;t looking so good SJ

Paddlechick666 · 13/08/2007 14:29

you know it's a cunning plan to get us to spend pennies eh!

will have 2 mates with bumps and mate's dd and my dd with me.

Kewcumber · 13/08/2007 14:31

yes i know - but I am quite good at not spending pennies. At least DS is not yet at the age where he can nag for things.

Paddlechick666 · 13/08/2007 14:33

yes i know. your strategy is to lose your wallet

SJ99 · 13/08/2007 14:39

You never know, they might even have some freebies for us, LOL. Will check it out anyway, see you there.

Kewcumber · 13/08/2007 14:42

how will I recognise you (will you be wearing a mumsnet badge?)

Paddlechick666 · 13/08/2007 14:46

i'll look like me. not planning on any cunning disguises!

Yingers74 · 13/08/2007 15:27

Trying to catch up with thread........

Sushi - the actor you like looks a bit scary for my liking! My dd2 is also showing clear signs of starting her terrible twos despite not being 2 yet. I am hoping she will follow dd1 and stop once her speaking gets better.
Mellow - have seen your actor in a number of films, was he not the lead guy in flying daggers? My heart will always belong to Keanu Reeves no matter how old he gets!!!!

Hope everyone had a great weekend, I went to a wedding yesterday where the rabbi spoke to us about agriculture - it was very informative! I was amazed the bride and groom managed to stay standing.

2Cute · 13/08/2007 16:00

Agriculture Yingers??? Is there a new wedding vow "do tho promise to mow the lawn" or sumfink along those lines?

Bushy Park was good. Why are there some mums that treat their kids like they're made of glass and expect everyone around them to do the same? DS was waiting for a girl to go across the little play bridge and said excuse me a few times but she wouldn't move for ages so he went passed her, didn't even touch her as there was more than enough space & I was watching him the whole time but the mother got all funny saying how dare he frighten her

Yay Paddle All you need to do now is bully your buyer. We can step in as your heavies if ya like

I might head to the ELC play thing depending on weather. Unfortunately my DS IS at that age where he knows exactly what he wants and tries his very best to get it (mostly with DH as I always tell DS he's the one with the money not mummy ).

SushiMummy · 13/08/2007 16:01

Yingers, Keanu Reeves? Naah. Too pretty. As sfx rightly pointed out, pretty boys/men don't age well, e.g. Brad Pitt/Mark Lester/Keanu Reeves/William Katt, et al.

mellow2 · 13/08/2007 16:15

My pastor told a story about dinosaurs and cave men for over an hour at my wedding. He really went on a tangent and only MIL thought he was really good.

mellow2 · 13/08/2007 16:23

Talking about heavy duty mums, I went to a play group with dd once where a mom prised a toy car out of another child's hand for her dd even though there were loads of other toy cars on the floor.

Granted the other child had grabbed her dd's car, as children do, I still thought the mom went overboard.

foxcub · 13/08/2007 18:50

2cute - I think some people with only daughters find small boys a bit wild and alarming . Just the thought of those wild boys makes them shudder, lest their precious princesses get infected or something!!

2cute come over for a cuppa tomorrow if you fancy it I'm probably going to be in all day - waiting for a parcel collection and doing a cull of the Dcs toys (there is a charity collection on Weds).

Paddle - weather forecast is heavy rain all day

I spent the day teaching DS1 to ride his bike without stabilisers. We trying to do some practice each day this week (apart from rainy Tuesday).

Has anyone been to Christ Church Common in Sheen? Its lovely up there

SJ99 · 13/08/2007 19:11

2cute & Sushi - I felt awful today as DS actually pulled and squeezed another little girl's nose at the park today. Totally unprovoked, I was pretty shocked as it's so unlike him . I guess DS is entering the naughtier realms of toddlerhood. I'm sure life will get more challenging for us mums .

QC - I guess if we both find Paddle then we'll get to meet each other without either of us having to wear a badge ;-)

foxcub · 13/08/2007 20:38

SJ small boys are like little wild animals

They get a testosterone surge between about 4 and 7 . I was hoping DS1 would start to calm down soon but am still waiting....

At DDs party, all the 4 yr old girls were sitting playing nicely, while the boys just climbed the walls and did everything they were told not to (like roll in the mud)

Kewcumber · 13/08/2007 20:45

dear god - it gets *worse at 4 I'm already dealing with Jaws!

sfxmum · 13/08/2007 21:09

dd started telling lies

at table today when she knows we don't like her to leave before eating a fair amount.
usually she just asks and asks and gets fobbed off but today a new approach.
'mummy i did a poo i need to get down change nappy'

no you didn't - short pause 'no i am finished i want to get out'

2Cute · 13/08/2007 21:16

They do TRY and out smart us don't they!

lol QC! You're DS is just beginning, there's loads to come yet!

Foxi - Thanks for the invite. I'll give you a call/drop text tomorrow.

mellow2 · 13/08/2007 21:42

Foxie,
Which charity is collecting on Wednesday? I need to throw out dd's toys and I'd like to know which charity is happy to take toys.

Would ds2 like first dips on some of dd's toys? There aren't very many I'm afraid as I've thrown out a few things.

rosmerta · 13/08/2007 21:43

Hi all, how's everyone?

I might be meeting a friend tomorrow morning but if not then will try to come along to the ELC thing, if you don't mind. Are you going to Richmond?

I can usually distract ds from a tantrum but it doesn't always work. We took a walk to the library today and he wanted to run into the road, when I wouldn't let him he decided to sit on the ground and scream. Cue furtive looking to see if anyone could see me being the bad person to the little boy!

rosmerta · 13/08/2007 21:43

Mellow, there's a charity shop in Brentford which always seems happy to take things and has toys and things inside. It's opposite the Weir pub

mellow2 · 13/08/2007 21:57

Thanks ros. I'll check to see if they want the toys.

SushiMummy · 13/08/2007 22:02

2cute&SJ99 (and indeed those with DS), MIL sent me this newspaper article last week about mums with boys having more challenging times than those with girls. I bet we mums with boys have a shorter life expectancy.

Things getting worse in sushi's house. Tonight we had the most stressful bathtime ever as DS didn't want it at all. To dress him was even worse.

lol, sfx. She seems very clever albeit a bit cheeky.

lol, QC. How's the little Jaws?

Kewcumber · 13/08/2007 22:08

ah but they love their mums

My experience of my teenage neices and nephews was that the boys were physically harder to deal with but a bit more stright-forward emotionally (wihtout wanting to over generalise) The boys would always getting into fights then it all being forgotten whereas the girls were much complex in their relationshipswith each other.
