Should obviously have said "scrupulous about respecting other people's choices except when it comes to names"

foxcub · 03/08/2007 14:34

Sushi - he's arriving about 7pm [panicked look emoticon]!!!

SushiMummy · 03/08/2007 14:37

So we'll be hearing all about him tomorrow no doubt.[nosey emoticon]

SushiMummy · 03/08/2007 14:39

lemonaid, I take you don't fancy the idea of naming your baby after where s/he is conceived, then.

eleusis · 03/08/2007 14:54

Hugo

lemonaid · 03/08/2007 15:00

eleusis · 03/08/2007 16:08

Starry, I have entertained the share thing in th epast, and might do so again, but I think we are too far apart for this to be practical.

Have you tried that nanny share website... sharingcare dot something or other?

congrats on job, oxo. really pleased for you. legoland was a huge success (well for the dcs) we hated every minute, obviously. well, i quite enjoyed my cappuccino..

kew - yes, your ds's antics were hilarious. he went into thet show-off mode all boys immediately adapt to entertain other boys - especially older ones. cute, though.

foxie - how grown-up being a landlady.

Evening out in Kingston 22nd September

sfxmum · 03/08/2007 17:18

xoxo - congratulations!

just in after leaving flat at 11 this morning for our visits and regular pilgrimage to kew gardens.

dd lost it a bit in the playground on the way home when yet another small child tried to get her hat.
'no no stop it stop it its my hat go away silly silly baby'

amidaiwish · 03/08/2007 18:26

lemonaid - congrats on your pg.
i had DD1 at Kingston Feb2004 - had a fab mw. fab epidural, no tearing (i put that down to the mw) and stayed one night in a lovely single room.

i had DD2 at West Mid Oct 2005 (couldn't get into Kingston) - again v good mw but the hospital was filthy. I gave birth in a recovery room (5 beds in there, i was panicking i was going to be joined!) as when i arrived at the hosp they said they were full (my response: well i'm in labour and i'm not going anywhere) Anyway i was done in a couple of hours, just gas & air/no stitches and out by 10.01 (they wouldn't let me out until after 10).

just wanted to share positive story.

rosmerta · 03/08/2007 19:30

evening all, just a quick one to say hello! Ds is worn out after swimming this pm and I believe he's already asleep [fingers crossed]

bubble - so sorry to hear about your ds

I had ds at West Mid and they were really good, got a private room which I wanted (& which they still haven't charged us for ), the only fault I have with them is I don't feel they tried v hard to get ds to breastfeed. But hey ho, next time eh?

mellow2 · 03/08/2007 21:03

Congrats, oxo on the new job! It's fantastic you can work from home.

Kewcumber · 03/08/2007 22:15

congrats Oxo.

If the weather is OK think I will hang out at home then mosey on over to kew to spy on sushi and her RL friends [stalky emoticon]. How about I pop over post nap with clothes Foxie? Alternatively you're welcome over here around 4pm.

foxcub · 03/08/2007 22:33

I luuuurrrve West Mid hospital - lovely midwife led unit - they're so supportive and luvverely. Agree about lack of BF support though - I do recall ringing NCT helpline in tears when I was in there (kept in for 4 days) to get some advice

sfxmum · 04/08/2007 08:21

morning all

it is dh's lie in weekend

about West Mid - after 48hrs in labour most of which i was alone with dh, all i can say horribly understaffed, mostly nice midwifes.

understaffed dirty post natal wards, zero bf help in fact quite bullish about bottles.
and this was 2005 since then there have been yet more budget cuts.

when i was working i used to have huge rows about staffing budgets every year (charitable social status social care org.)

they did not seem to get that constantly running on minimum requirements is a recipe for disaster. things go wrong and can be unpredictable when dealing with people.

everyone became very good at generating paperwork to cover their arses.

sorry for rant

have a lovely summery weekend
