July/August 04 London babies meet-up

Whilst we were all still parents-in-waiting we discussed that it might be fun to meet up with the newborns once they'd arrived.
Now that we've had a few weeks to settle down who is up for this.
We're all quite spread out so we'll probably have to find a central location that's fairly easy for us all to get to.
Of course anyone else who wants to see a clutch of new babies and fire up their broody juices is also welcome .

Sponge, thanks for starting this. I'm on for a meet up! could we make it wed/thurs/friday? we could meet up in a central park with play area??

dinosaur · 10/09/2004 16:33

I'm definitely keen on this!

What about Coram's Fields?

If we go somewhere like that I could bring DS2 as well. Would anybody else be bringing their toddler too?

IlanaK · 10/09/2004 21:27

I have a June baby - can I come? I also have a 3 year old!

sponge · 11/09/2004 17:02

I think we'd stretch it for a Junie - what do you think girls?
The summer picnic is a Coram Fields today so if we hear that that goes well then it may be a good choice.
Sadly my toddler is now at school so I won't be able to bring her. I could do a cardborad cut-out and stand her by us .

sweetkitty · 12/09/2004 17:25

I'm definately up for it as well!

Where is Coram's Field???

IlanaK · 12/09/2004 19:02

Coram Fields is near Russel Square station and was lovely when we went this past weekend for the lodon meet up. One thing I would say however is that it is more suited to toddlers and older children as it is all playground, sand, animals, etc. It is ideal if people like me have older siblings to keep entertained while we all talk babies, but if you only have a baby it is less ideal.

Eshay · 13/09/2004 14:47

Hi, I'm new to this site but I would love to join in this meet-up to meet some new people. My baby boy was born 8 July. I can do pretty much any day so I'll keep my eye on this board and hope to meet you soon.

sponge · 14/09/2004 11:24

I haven't been to Coram Fields but sounds like it might be a decent choice.
Can we buy cups of tea etc there or do we need to picnic?
Will it work if weather is shite? (looking increasingly likely!)
I can do pretty much any day but would request that we meet not too late as I need to be back at Gloucester Rd to pick up dd from school by 3.30.
The only concrete request we have is for a Wed, Thur or Fri so how about Wed 22nd or Thur 30th (or any other day that suits everyone).

Corams Fields has a cafe, & not just a cafe, one with a proper espresso machine and friendly competent eastern European staff. It's in one of the little arcades along the sides, so like a sort of covered but breezy pavement cafe (not smart though, plastic chairs & lino topped tables). Now I've discovered CF if I lived anywhere near I'd be there all the time.

sponge · 14/09/2004 11:39

You just can't resist those little babies can you Binkie?

both weds 22nd and thurs 30th sounds fine for me

it will be our first journey into central london so should be fun

sponge · 16/09/2004 09:26

How does eveyone feel about Sept 30th?
Or if not how about Oct 6th or 7th the following week.

OP posts:
Eshay · 16/09/2004 11:12

I vote for 30 Sep.

dinosaur · 16/09/2004 11:16

can do 30 Sept.

sweetkitty · 16/09/2004 12:11

sep 30th good for me too

anyone else????

need to get times arranged think we will be pretty easy to spot, bags under eyes, no make up, sick stains on clothes, shiny new prams (or is that just me?)

sponge · 16/09/2004 14:30

OK September 30th it is at Coram Fields.
I haven't been there. Is there an obvious place we can meet or is it not that big?
What time suits everyone?
I can get there whenever suits but have to be away by about 2.45 to ensure I get to school in time to collect dd.

OP posts:
Eshay · 16/09/2004 14:53

I can usually manage to get somewhere by 11 or 12.
I have never been to Coram's Fields so would love to be told what corner to go to. I won't be bringing my shiny pram but will probably meet the other new mum criteria, esp stains on clothes.

sponge · 16/09/2004 16:50

Perhaps if we all have a muslin cloth over our left shoulder .

OP posts:
IlanaK · 16/09/2004 18:54

I can do Sept 30th too. Coram Fields is pretty big. There are many bits to it so it would definately make sense to pick a place to meet. Perhaps the cafe? I will have my 3 year old with me so will be easy to spot. I will probably also qualify for the muslim over shoulder look I will not bring the shiny new pram (thought I do have one) as it is not bus friendly. But you will spot me easily as I babywear ds2.

sponge · 17/09/2004 10:56

OK, shall we go for the cafe at 11.30?
So far I think we have:
Sponge
Dinosaur
Ilanak
Eshay
Sweetkitty
Madgirl

Plus assorted babies and toddlers.
Anyone else?

There's a newbie on the boards.... 2echo. She's looking for London Mums. She's in the Canary Wharf area, she's got a thread with Canary Wharf in the title.

2echo · 17/09/2004 11:48

Hi everyone,
Came in search of you all on referral from NomDePlume (thanks again!). Would love to join the gathering if there's room for us...

Never been to Coram Fields - does anybody have a map or directions?

madgirl · 17/09/2004 14:16

Hello, just wanted to confirm I will be coming with ds2 and really looking forward to it. 2echo here you go coram fields

sweetkitty · 17/09/2004 14:45

wow just looked it up on the a-z and it's about 5 mins walk from my work (holborn viaduct) so know how to get there, might take DD in for a visit (if shes not crying)

HelloMama · 17/09/2004 15:45

Hi! I would love to join you all too! WIll be there with my shiny-ish pushchair, muslin over shoulder, and sick mark where Ruben managed to miss the muslin (he always does). Looking forward to seeing everyone and finding out if you all look like i imagine you do!
