Brand new thread for July.

OP posts:
Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:06

is near Reading

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:09

it looks nice Paddle and nice to have large "garedn" that you don;t have to mow! Though presumably you do pay through service charge.

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:11

Paddle will be around tea time if you want to meet up. And obviously if weather is bad will be around all day.

Lazy parent alert - having fed DS on a few bread crumbs, a smoothie, 2 flapjacks and 2 choclate brownies we were in so late for tea that I gave him a dollop of my bolognese sauce with half a tin of bakes beans for tea . Not a vegetable in sight all day!

SushiMummy · 14/07/2007 20:12

Well, DS had a nap for three hours this arvo, so did DH. It could've been sun stroke albeit mild. I keep forgetting to put sunscreen on DS (&DH) as I don't need it.

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:12

though the smoothie was all fruit (I think) and obviously there are toms and onions in the spag bol. Do the oats in the flapjacks count as a vegetable?

It's Prima btw...

Paddlechick666 · 14/07/2007 20:21

oats are definately a vegetable in my book!

dd has had a relatively healthy day foodwise today - if i don't count the huge gingerbread cookie she had at M&S this arvo!

didn't stop her yumming down her spag bol tonight tho lol.

god for a 3 hour nap.

Prima eh? You n me are stable mates QC!

maybe catchya tomorrow arvo QC.....

regards the property, apparently service charge, ground rent and buildings insurance is around £450 p/a so very reasonable IMO.

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:24

that is reasonable - would they look after my house and garden for that?

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:24

weren't you Prima Baby?

Paddlechick666 · 14/07/2007 20:27

it will be a relief not to have to do all the mowing i do now NOT!!!

yes i was prima baby too but i rather think you'll have more column space than i

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 20:29

No I am Prima Grownup!

And have to share my article with two other aopters - the cheek of it.

ComeOVeneer · 14/07/2007 20:33

Hi all, we have had a few hectic days. Thursday night was a late one having drinks at one of the mother's (from dd's class)house with a dozen other mums. Then after schol yesterday I drove the children to London and dropped them off at IL's, then took the tube in to meet dh for his summer works do at one of the Guild halls(another very late night) and we stayed at a hotel (bliss).

Today we went to Hamptead for dimsum, then home for a huge bbq out the front of our house with all the neighbours. The children are absolutely exhausted so we are hoping for alie in tomorrow (fingers crossed). Weather permitting tomorrow is the village fair, and we have to make space in the garage for the new kitchen to be delivered.

SushiMummy · 14/07/2007 20:36

QC, forgot to mention DH's sis's name is same as yours! DH is lobster red now, btw.

Paddlechick666 · 14/07/2007 20:37

oooh get you Mrs All (Prima) Grown Up!

I'll stick with the baby one ta

Kewcumber · 14/07/2007 21:46

he should divorce you Sushi and marry me - we would make a nice matched pair of book ends. Alternatively we could hide in the shade together when everyone else is sunning themselves . Have a feeling me and your DH will end up having a few conversations over the next few years hiding inside together every summer..
Would DS and mine be in the same class Sushi? Nov 2005 birthday?

foxcub · 14/07/2007 22:18

Hi everyone nice to see you earlier!

Paddle you are a real star you know! I so much needed that cuppa and how sweet of you to remember my fave food is flapjacks . Thanks for whisking the kids off for treats - it meant I had 10 minutes of tranquility LOL!!!

DH has just treated me to a foot massage mmmmmm

So much better than sex

I still have my voucher for that massage and am in deperate need of it atm!

foxcub · 14/07/2007 22:19

PS paddlre call them at 9am Monday - don't muck about and lose out again! The flat looks lovely and I can't wait to pop round there for a cuppa !

SushiMummy · 14/07/2007 23:19

As for the school, I think our DSs would be in the same year, hopefully the same class and we'd be selling smoothies together! Now that DH prefers Riverside to Kew College, the chances of you and DH hiding inside are quite high, I think.

Kewcumber · 15/07/2007 08:07

Sushi - if you're going to pay ridiculous prices to live in kew you can at least avail yourself of free decent primary shcool education and save up in case secondary is still rubbish by the time they are 10!

Was I the only one itching to reorganise that school fair? They needed tables anf chairs near the food stands (people would have bough tmore if they could have sat down and food suitable for smaller children. And man did someone need to get a grip of the smoothie stall. And properly signposted queues

Kewcumber · 15/07/2007 08:13

DS is still asleep he woke a few times in the night but to be still asleep now...! This is a child that normally wakes at 6am. Completely wasted on me though I hovering around upstairs convincd something is wrong with him. He is breathing (I checked) - maybe he's in a coma? Should I wake him? Seems mean if he's tired...

Oh what to do...

Kewcumber · 15/07/2007 08:14

ah waking now...

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2007 08:38

oh for a child that slept till 8am - even if it was once in a blue moon!

the only days dd has ever shown any sign of going beyond 7am have been work days so i've had to wake her.

okay, am getting more excited about the flat now. thinking of the downstairs storage unit that could house all dd's outdoor stuff and garden toys (which she doesn't have yet!). the big communal garden that could host picnics and (paddling) pool parties next summer. i'm anticipating a double summer next year as clearly this year's isn't going to arrive till then!

are estate agents open on sundays?

am also getting faintly anxious that it'll all go wrong. whenever i really want something invariably something goes wrong, and going on the constant run of bad luck i've had over the last 2 years i can't help but feel a tad worried.

oooh, the perils of wanting something!

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2007 08:40

ps: foxie, happy to have helped and that fiver really wasn't necessary!

going back to the flat (me-thinks you lot will be very very over it before long LOL!), can i still justify having a cleaner?

can i? can i? please can i?

ComeOVeneer · 15/07/2007 09:14

Morning all. Fingers crossed for the flat paddle. I know what you mean about the excitment, I was like that from the moment I saw this house and spent ages visualising where I was going to place various bits of furniture etc.

I have just recieved a message that ds has a place at a fab nursery starting in September, so for the first time in almost 3 years I will have time to myself .

Paddlechick666 · 15/07/2007 09:22

thanks CoV. i'm actually looking forward to being able to go the loo without hauling dd upstairs with me!

there are advantages to living on one floor LOL.

SushiMummy · 15/07/2007 09:29

Yes, a bunch of amateurs! I'd have pre-made smoothies and put them in a bed of crushed ice. Not to mention a gazebo and chairs. We'd make a good team, QC!

Now Paddle is moving (fingers crossed for you!), I want to move, too. I'm toying with an idea of moving to a bigger house in Kew and still reducing the mortgage. Wishful thinking...?
