Brand new thread for July.

KC don't you have any angelic features then?

lemonaid · 09/07/2007 19:58

I think that may actually be why, SushiMum -- in Japan you get proper support so you know that if you can't bf it's because you really can't, so there's no element of blame, whereas in the UK because you're told that you really ought to do it but then not given any real support (unless you're lucky) there can be a feeling that if you didn't manage it it's because you didn't try hard enough and that it's your fault.

lemonaid · 09/07/2007 20:00

I've just found the pirate waistcoat in question, but might be more of a frock coat on your DS...

Kewcumber · 09/07/2007 21:11

virtually no angelic features except perhaps some fallen ones... many of my vices are quite rusty though so maybe they've expired now. I do really beleive that he is by nature one of life's socialites and generally a happy person. I'm sure I will have some input into the way he is but his general cutest I beleive is just him. When he is at his best I do think its so sad that his birth mother cannot see it. I think (perhaps mistakenly) that she is the only other person who would appreciate him as much as I do. I think of her more than I thought I would, if she is half the character that he is, she would be a lovely person to know.

Kewcumber · 09/07/2007 21:12

he has two mnths to grow into the waistcoat Was thinking more of a prirate hat with a stripey top and plain trousers though.

sfxmum · 09/07/2007 21:22

what? no parrot? no eye patch?

Kewcumber · 09/07/2007 21:25

hmmm - suspect DS would only too keen on the parrot and spend all day taking the patch off then trying to put it back on then squawking loudly when it wouldn;t go.

Do all toddler have some form of OCD? Spent a happy hour in Kew standing waiting for him whilst he climed on and off one particular step (apparently was different from all teh others)

sfxmum · 09/07/2007 21:29

toddlers are just plain mad

dd to dh 'oh daddy you are not a dragon anymore' 'well done daddy you are a snail now'

'those rabbits are disappointed'

as for steps dd likes benches sometimes she likes climbing all over and over and over and over again, at least i can sit down

ComeOVeneer · 09/07/2007 21:51

KC, ds had a tendency to do similar. When we got him his little tikes car for his 2nd birthday he spent hours getting in and out/opening and closing the door (over and over and over....)

lemonaid · 09/07/2007 22:07

Definitely have hat, and if there are two months to go then I may even have time to find it

eleusis · 10/07/2007 09:17

Hi everyone. Unfortunately, I have no time to read the thread and catch up. But, I've been set free with the kids on this Saturday (DH's brother is coming down and they are running off to London) so I was wondering if anyone will be around and would like to meet up day time with the kids. We could do my house, which seemed to work well last time. Or I can bring my little darlings elsewhere.

Anyone interested?

Kewcumber · 10/07/2007 09:24

depends on the weather Ele - local school fair on here Sat at 11.30 if the weather is good we plan on going. However you're welcome to come over earlier for coffee and we can go together then have lunch at mine at 12.30ish before DS goes for a nap. If the weather is rubbish I have no plans and would happily meet anywhere dry that you like - your's/mine/CPC etc...

sfxmum · 10/07/2007 10:23

morning all

i am currently obsessively making lists for our camping weekend, even in my sleep

btw my FIL thinks dd has a mild form of german measles he reckons it often presents like that oh well one down

hope you are all ok

sfxmum · 10/07/2007 10:23

HAD i meant, the rash temp and all that is

Kewcumber · 10/07/2007 10:30

IIRC german measles is very mild so its quite possible.

eleusis · 10/07/2007 11:00

Has she had the MMR, SFX? We are doing singles and DS has only had the measels jab so far. Then again, we could come expose him to your DD and save £70 or whatever the Rubella jab costs.

Kewcumber · 10/07/2007 11:06

have decided to give DS MMR [brave emoticon], have done a bit of research and a) he will be 20 months by the time I get it done so lower risk b) no gut, allergy or autoimmune problems which appear to be main contraindicator

sfxmum · 10/07/2007 11:17

Ele - yes she had the MMR in fact it is because of it that he thinks it's Rubella, it's gone lasted less than 48hrs but she clearly was fighting something most of the week.
i never had it but tested positive for immunity so all good.

KC i agree with that criteria if there are no such problems evident and they are big enough i would brave it.
i have worked with several people with autism in their 50's so it is not just the jab, i think some people have a predisposition to be affected by elements of the vaccine, it requires study but no alarm.

in fact years ago autism was blamed on dominant mothers lack of vitamins, etc. there are also theories that it is an evolutionary cost of maleness and so on

best shut up now

mellow2 · 10/07/2007 11:20

Hello everyone,
I don't have time to read the posts but everyone seems well.

Sfx,
If mini-sfx does have German measles, can we come round? That will save me some money as dd will be having the single jabs. [grin;

Kewcumber · 10/07/2007 11:23

"blamed on dominant mothers" - oh dear no hope for gherkin then

rosmerta · 10/07/2007 11:24

hi everyone, just had a quick catch up before ds has his lunch.

Ds had the MMR and fortunately, no serious reactions afterwards. I decided along the same lines you did KC & SFX!

sfxmum · 10/07/2007 11:25

hi mellow, it was last week i had posted i was worried about a rash and temp but was reassured that it was a viral rash and by her quick recovery

but yesterday i was talking to FIL about it and he said it was likely to have been GM.

must act quicker next time and host infection party

sfxmum · 10/07/2007 11:28

it is a big deal KC i often had to reassure parents and quite a few tearful mothers although it is balls it is all part of making women fell guilty

but i have been paying attention to the theories about androgens in amniotic fluid as per PCOS i give it more credence hence my efforts to minimize my symptoms before conception

Kewcumber · 10/07/2007 11:30

my mother used to "blame" homosexuality on dominant mothers - have beaten it out of her now.

rosmerta · 10/07/2007 12:53

If the rain holds off would anyone like to meet at Kew Gardens this afternoon? Am going to head over there so ds can actually run around outside for a change! I don't have a phone atm though and won't probably get there till 3-3.30pm.
