So we are meeting on tues 7th at 12:30.
Let's find another venue. Am getting bored of Starbucks !! There's Pizza Express on London wall ? Or how about Spittalfields market where we can sit in middle and choose from a dozen or so different cuisines ?

I can offer a baby to cuddle. Harry will be almost 5 weeks by then.
The 7th is dd's first day at big school so I will have the day free as long as I remember to pick her up!

handbagaddiction · 18/08/2004 01:02

I should definitely be able to make this - but if we choose the Pizza Express on London Wall - can it please be the one nearest to L'pool street and not the one at the top end by the Museum of London - other wise I've got no chance of getting there from Tower Hill!!

serenequeen · 18/08/2004 06:27

can i provisionally put my name down for this? thanks.

prufrock · 18/08/2004 11:31

sq it would be lovely to see you - kind of sad though isn't it that we don't have time to do city meet-ups until we are on maternity leave from city jobs!

mckenzie · 18/08/2004 11:39

beware if you go to the Pizza Express at Liverpool Street end of Moorgate as it gets very very busy. Even by 12.30 someitmes although a tuesday should be okay. There is also Harry's Bar just that bit nearer to Liverpool Street (cant remember the name of the road, it runs from the taxi rank end of Liv Street to London Wall.
It's quite a bit bigger than Pizza Express inside, the menu is more varied and we've always found the girls very happy to cope with children.
Not sure though that they have any highchairs. Mind you, I think PE only has one and that was broken last time I was there.
Hope you all have fun.

frogs · 18/08/2004 11:54

Spitalfields is nice, tho' I"ve only been there at w/e when it does get v. busy. Is it open during the week? I would imagine it should be much quieter then. No highchairs, but the babes could sit in buggies. For anyone who hasn't been there, they have stalls selling various different kinds of international food and then a seating area in the middle with those picnic-type tables.

There's also a Spanish tapas place in the market which is more of a proper restaurant. Can't remember the name, but it will come back to me. They are very child-friendly, and do have highchairs.

serenequeen · 18/08/2004 21:30

spitalfields sounds good...

handbagaddiction · 19/08/2004 01:05

Ok - ridculous question here (given that I do work in the City) but....where is Spitalfields??

frogs · 19/08/2004 08:26

It's just the other side of Bishopsgate from Liverpool Street Station.

madgirl · 20/08/2004 11:19

poo i can't do tuesdays. have a good one everyone. report back on twinkie's growth!

Twinkie · 20/08/2004 11:27

I can come - hoorah can;t wait to see you all!!

And Madgirl (boo hoo you can't come!) I am huge - when people ask me how long I have got they gasp when I say 13 weeks (well 12 weeks as of today!!) - thing is the midwife has measured me to be exactly right with her little tape measure so I can't understand why everyone thinks I am having a baby elephant!! (Nice girl in florist yesterday who will always be my friend said it must be cause I am naturally petite - well she may be twice as expensive as the other florist but forom now on I will be buying my flowers from her!!)

Kayleigh · 20/08/2004 11:30

"naturally petite"

OP posts:
madgirl · 20/08/2004 11:31

hah not after that cheesecake! [evil laugh]

Twinkie · 20/08/2004 11:36

Ha ha - thats the thing though I am 5 foot 7 and a good size 12 and here was she at all of about 4 foot and a small size 8 - I love her though - thats customer service IMO!!

Wills · 23/08/2004 09:30

I'd like to join in if that's ok? I've just got back to work after finishing maternity leave . Somewhere near Liverpool street is best for me otherwise I'm not going to have long enough for a decent lunch.

Twinkie during my last pregnancy my gp kept asking me if I was going to have twins and my midwife kept sending me for scans because I was too small .

Kayleigh · 24/08/2004 12:03

Am all relaxed after the summer party and don't have the energy to think of a new venue. Let's go with Pizza Pomodoro - very close to Liverpool St Station. Tuesday 7th 12:30.

So far (I think)

Ooohhhh I was really sick after last time we went there!!

beachyhead · 24/08/2004 12:09

Sorry can't make this one, but I'll keep a look out for the next. Have a good time.....

prufrock · 24/08/2004 12:29

Me too - and I've booked ds in for his jabs at 3pm - afterwards this time, so if he doesn't like them it doesn't matter.

MrsFogi · 24/08/2004 13:48

Oooh I can't wait to move back to London to be able to join in with these lunches!

Kayleigh · 24/08/2004 14:05

oh Twinkie, I had forgotton about that. Am pretty sure it wasn't something you ate there though - didn't you have plainish pasta ?

If you want to go elsewhere I'm happy to change venue. Just give me another option !

OP posts:
Twinkie · 24/08/2004 14:29

Penne Arribaiata and then cheesecake - think it was probably just my hormones or somethig like that - no I don't mind going there again if I am sick this time though I am making an official complaint to Head Mumsnetter!!

Kayleigh · 24/08/2004 14:34

Suits me. Then maybe I'll get demoted and someone else can organise these blinkin meet-ups

OP posts:
prufrock · 24/08/2004 17:21

That's right Twinkie - blame the lovely people at pp for your throwing up rather than the fact you were PREGNANT.
