Hi - just in case you're still watching this thread.
I'm in a village half an hour away but tend to gravitate to York.

Actually I was thinking the other day about whether we could organise some kind of small-scale York meet-up - maybe meet for coffee at the Spurriergate Centre or something?

CadburyCremeSquonk · 02/04/2007 18:16

count me in

KathyMCMLXXII · 02/04/2007 18:23

Righto Squonk - we'll put you in charge of remembering everyone's mobiles

We'll bump this a few times over the next few days and see who else appears.

CadburyCremeSquonk · 02/04/2007 18:43

I only said I could remember them sometimes so I may write them down to be on the safe side

KathyMCMLXXII · 03/04/2007 09:49

Happy Easter JBW, apologies for hijacking your thread!

I'm away too but we'll get things going after Easter!

Sterny · 08/04/2007 21:43

Hello all,

I live about 30mins away from York, but previously lived in York for 20 + years. Can I join you?

SquonkyDonkeyEasterEggs · 08/04/2007 21:53

I'm about thirty miles away, myself..... but the things you do to get out of the house the more the merrier, I say! Which side of York are you 30 miles from?

Sterny · 08/04/2007 22:09

I live in Howden, which is south east of York. My Mum lives north of York though so I spend quite a lot of time navigating the outer ring road! Whereabouts are you from?

SquonkyDonkeyEasterEggs · 08/04/2007 22:10

Am from Manchester, but nowadays live over near Scarborough

Gingerbear · 08/04/2007 22:11

Hello Sterny, you are close to me - I work in Rawcliffe and eat at the Golden Cottage now and then. Have been known to frequent the hostelries too.

Sterny · 08/04/2007 22:15

Yay! Great to hear from people who live in the vicinity. The Golden Cottage is nice but pricey. Dh and I frequently order from the China Chef in Goole - v. cheap and fast delivery. Do you live in Rawcliffe Gingerbear?

Gingerbear · 08/04/2007 22:25

No - email me for a chat if you like leafemeister at gmail dot com

JBW · 09/04/2007 13:32

I am near Rawcliffe, CLifton Green area. I work up on Clifton Moor. I love living in York always something to do.

Squonky · 09/04/2007 14:00

so.....Kathy, you gonna organise us?

Chandra · 09/04/2007 14:17

I didn't know there were so many of you around!

When are you planning to meet?

elclose · 10/04/2007 09:26

sorry to high jack thread but am thinking of moving and york is a possible place , whats it like and what THE BEST PLACES TO LIVE ECT want to be closeish to the city i think, ant info would be great

thehairybabysmum · 10/04/2007 09:47

Hello ladies...good to see there's a few of us Yorkies for a meetup!

Hello Elclose, york is a fab place to live lots to do, nice restaurants and friendly.
Depends on what you are looking for in a house really as to what area will suit you...if you want to live close to the city centre then i can recommend Holgate...20 mins walk to centre + lovely park and good buses etc. Tis a bit cheaper than the north side of the city too which tends to be dearer...not that anywhere in York is cheap mind!! If you want a more villagy feel then Heworth is nice, also Bishopthorpe rd area v. popular.

elclose · 10/04/2007 09:56

Heworth can you walk to york from there? to be honest not to sure whether i need to be in walking distance its just that at the moment i can walk 15 minutes and im in town and can do loads dont mind if its out of town as long as there is the basics you know butcher baker veg post office, maybe a library and a park! Dont want much do i
