So as not to hijack Mrs JC's very wonderful birth announcement featuring a now famous "nice cardigan" I am starting this meet up thread to weed out any lurkers.

Sign in, and then we will decide on a plan.

I'll be keen, (just to let you know we sadly lost the baby.)

ghosty · 12/03/2007 05:57

YM - sorry to hear that ....

twentypence · 12/03/2007 07:08

Awful news YM.

SSShakeTheChi · 12/03/2007 07:56

Oh I'm so sorry to hear that ym. Do you want to talk about it? How are you feeling?

yawningmonster · 12/03/2007 08:43

We are all recovering as a family, am feeling pretty broken inside and out to be honest but will be good to get out and about and start living life now that the nightmare last fortnight is over, thanks for thoughts and concerns.

Are you in CHCH too Chi?

BTW a belated and heartfelt congratulations on your beautiful little boy MJC, would love to meet him and your gorgeous daughter if you manage to make it to the meet up

SSShakeTheChi · 14/03/2007 11:33

That's so sad YM, can't begin to imagine how it feels, must be awful. How far into pregnancy were you?

No, I'm not in ChCh. Hope the meeting works out.

yawningmonster · 16/03/2007 06:20

Sorry seem to have inadvertantly axed the thread, still keen tp? anyone else?

welliemum · 16/03/2007 07:30

Oh! I missed this thread!

YM, I'm so sad to hear about your baby . Would love to meet up if you feel like socialising a bit.

Well, I have one likely day for meeting in ChCh in March, which is the afternoon of the 28th (a Wednesday).

I'll be back in April around the 19th or so but not sure of those dates yet.

Would love to meet up with any or all of you bunch down there!

yawningmonster · 17/03/2007 08:12

28th would be good for us as far as it looks so far...would love to meet up...twentypence you still keen? Is the mum (sorry forgotten your nickname) that came to gardens and to the discovery room still in Chch? there must be a couple more of us...if not am still keen with whoever is here and willing...

Great!

Any ideas as to what to do?

I don't know if I mentioned, but the reason I'm in Christchurch nest week is to have a cochlear implant! (=bionic ear, v.exciting). Surgery is on Thursday the 29th. MIL is flying over to help so I'm going to be in Christchurch with DH, MIL, dd1, dd2, Uncle Tom Cobbleigh and all.

Sooo...... I'm thinking maybe a coffee while DH and MIL run the others round and round the block to tire them out. But open to any suggestions really.

yawningmonster · 20/03/2007 03:47

coffee sounds great will have ds with me so somewhere that can withstand a toddler would be good, not so good on knowing places in town...twentypence may have some good ideas....

Welliemum have you been waiting long for the implant??? Have heard fantastic results from them so hope for the same in your case

welliemum · 20/03/2007 04:04

Been waiting years and year YM - I had the whole workup in the UK and then emigrated and was back to square 1! So it's very exciting.

Agree about toddler-friendliness - dd1 is 2-and-a-half.

I'm sure 20p will know of a good place.

twentypence · 20/03/2007 05:14

Museum has a play area with a little fence thing, high chairs etc. And it's quiet of an afternoon.

Robert Harris have an area with some toys and a sofa which could work - is above bus exchange which would be good for those on public transport.

Other than that I seem to have forgotten - ds is 4 now so not exactly elderly but it's amazing what you don't retain if you don't need to.

OP posts:
welliemum · 21/03/2007 00:25

The museum sounds nice - I've never been there. But saying that, I'm not fussed if the rest of you prefer Robert Harris.

You're very lucky, 20p, to be able to have a quiet coffee nowadays without needing a "little fence thing" or similar....

yawningmonster · 21/03/2007 01:48

Museum is always good as has discovery room also which ds loves

twentypence · 21/03/2007 03:21

If I bring ds he will take full advantage of the little fence!

I saw MrsJC and she is keen too. So museum it is then.

Time suggestion? I can probably do from about 1.30pm

OP posts:
yawningmonster · 21/03/2007 07:35

Can do 1.30 no problem, will be great to see you again twentypence and to meet the others as well!

twentypence · 21/03/2007 07:40

Okay so it's 1.30 Museum Cafe (then if anyone is running a little late we will be ensconced with a warming beverage and won't mind).

Children are optional but very very very welcome. I plan to adopt MrsJC's dd if I don't bring ds.

OP posts:
MrsJohnCusack · 21/03/2007 07:57

DD would love that - you were v.popular today! she and DS (ooh, still feels funny typing that) will be there.
1.30, give or take depending on the amount of time I'm pinned to the beanbag feeding, is fine. See you all then

welliemum · 22/03/2007 11:37

Aaaaaaarrrghhh.

Spanner in works.

Just had a letter from the implant people and they want me to have an appointment on Weds afternoon at 2 with the audiologist and the rehab person, to "meet and greet" apparently.

Well, I've already met them and greeted them and had long chats with them, so I'm going to see if we can just skip that one. I'll ask DH to phone tomorrow as they never answer emails, and I'll keep you posted.

yawningmonster · 25/03/2007 08:32

Sorry just checked this...um we could make it slightly earlier if that would help and would suit everyone...???

twentypence · 25/03/2007 10:47

I'm happy to be late!
