We are! Sunday afternoon. ooh, lets think of a secret signal - piece of red ribbon rund buggy or bag handles?

lydialemon · 22/06/2004 20:48

Might be tempted to go up there Sunday afternoon. I'll go with the red on the handlebars! Sorry, speeding through this as I'm supposed to be cooking and going to work!

Bump bump bumper cars!

There are loads of us MN-ers in s London, so whether it's Sat or Sun, lets do the red ribbon thing, and see who meets up. Twig - I'd love to meet you sometime - LL I will recognise you without your ribbon, anyway!

Anyone else? It's a lovely traditional funfair with lots of rides for young children as well as some stomach-emptiers, traditional steam-organ type music, some rides run on steam, and the sideshow games for kids are 'win a prize each time'.

We're at a birthday party on Saturday, so definitely can't go up that day (Playtown, Grants in Croydon at about 11.30, if anyone else is going to be lounging on their lovely comfy sofas)

DH is not showing a great deal of enthusiasm for Sunday - I need to work on him a bit more, lazy sod.

did any of you go along today? we were thinking of it but as it was raining when ds woke up from his nap, we had a quiet afternoon at home instead (quite a rarity for us anyway). think the steam fair comes to the open spaces of s. london quite frequently so we'll look out for the next visit.

Blu · 27/06/2004 16:36

We went! It was great! the Carters Steam Fair is on the South Bank between Coin St and the Oxo Tower 27th-30th August.

Hi there!

I moved to West Dulwich in February and this week resigned from my job to spend more time with my 16 mth daughter Maud. I've got a month's notice to work out, but I'm desperate to meet some local mums, as all my friends live a trek away. Have been going to Monkey Music in Herne Hill, but most of the women there seem to be nannies and no one makes any effort to make friends!!!
Pleeaasssee can I join your gang?

motherinferior · 05/07/2004 14:24

oh go on then

Blu · 05/07/2004 14:32

Stayathomemumster: Hello! Maud is a v lovely name! I have a teenage 3 year old, but 'the gang' has a very mixed age group. We should arrange another meet-up.
IME Whippersnappers at Brockwell Lido is more friendly, and people often go to the cafe in the park for a coffee after the class.

motherinferior · 05/07/2004 22:14

I have a threenager too, plus a one year old. Am free on Fridays. Everyone else in the area seems utterly delightful whenever I've managed to get to a meetup.

Twigeltt, any woman who's married to a star like your DH must be ok, so yes, you can come!

OK then, what are we doing?

Blu · 05/07/2004 22:30

No, I've flounced off! And don't meet Twiglett - she'll just trash your laptop.

Could meet up Fri 9th July?

Picnic at the Paddling Pool in Brockwell park?

lydialemon · 05/07/2004 22:46

Think I can do that.

Where IS the paddling pool in Brockwell Park?

I have to pick DS2 up at 11.30, so I could be there any time after about 12.30?

(Welcome SAHMumster )

Getting excited already bloody PC

Blu · 05/07/2004 22:52

The paddling pool is sort of along the western edge of the park, between the duck ponds and the hill up to the cafe.
Or the lawn in front of the cafe in Brockwell Park? Or (just to be really original) Dulwich Park? Hornimann?

serenequeen · 05/07/2004 23:13

brockwell is just fine, thanks, blu

may well be able to hobble along to this as will be on maternity leave thank god - that is if we are doing fri 9th in brockwell pk.

lydialemon · 05/07/2004 23:32

There's a duck pond and a cafe?!

Isn't it just a big green hill? I obviously need to go there more often - we only venture down there when the Lambeth Country Show is on.
