Peterborough meetup?

I will be in Peterborough next week - hurrah!

So is anyone up for a meetup? I will be arriving mid to late afternoon on Friday 4th June and staying until Sunday mid afternoon. So Friday or Saturday evening without kiddies, or Saturday afternoon with. Anyone else around?

Croak, how is the exam preparation going? Good luck.

Has Peterborough finally been shut down?

Anyone around?

Certainly looks like it fisil - how unfortunate
I'm sure that I'll be about that weekend and could make it whenever is easiest for you/anyone else.
Thanks for the luck - its very much needed - only one more left thank goodness, revision's really been restricting my mumsnetting!
Does your half term start this Friday? If so hope this week goes quickly and enjoy your break

Jaybee · 26/05/2004 15:10

I am over there this weekend but not next, unfortunately, ds has a football tournament next weekend. Where are you all going to go?

helenmc · 26/05/2004 18:26

I'll be around - have got older kids (7&10) if that makes any difference to where & when we meet.

coppertop · 26/05/2004 18:29

I'll be around too. DS's are 16 months and nearly 4yrs old if that helps with deciding whether or not it should be a kiddie-free meet-up.

fisil · 26/05/2004 19:42

That means we have 3 16/17 month olds, a 4 year old, 7 year old and 10 year old. What do you reckon, a good mix or not? I think I vote for a curry or Thai meal out instead - on Friday or Saturday night. Is there any way you could make either night, Jaybee?

Can you remember who else is in the P'boro posse?

we could have a rehersal for the Beer Fest as I'm going to miss it this year...boo hoo! Although I'm dancing on the chairs after a drink these days.
Had a look on the curry thread, and the only other person was Kiwisbird.

coppertop · 26/05/2004 20:59

I'd be up for a BeerFest rehearsal too. My drinking stamina is no longer what it once was but practice makes perfect.

fisil · 27/05/2004 07:57

So, it's me, helenmc, coppertop and croak. Kiwibird is out of town now - but very very welcome. Where is a place where we can have a good drink (but also get some food - cos I'm a lightweight these days). I know a couple of pubs that do food in the Longthorpe area (but that's just being selfish cos then I can walk)

OP posts:
coppertop · 27/05/2004 12:12

The College Arms in town does nice food but I'm not sure what time they stop cooking at. Glad to see I'm not the only lightweight.

helenmc · 27/05/2004 12:45

Longthorpe would be brilliant cos I could walk tooo ...Boathouse/ Fox & Hounds ???

coppertop · 27/05/2004 13:01

Actually Longthorpe isn't too far for me either. Not quite walking distance but near enough.

Croak · 27/05/2004 16:48

Longthorpe's as good as anywhere for me too. My parents live in the sticks so I'll have to cajole dp into a lift into town wherever we go.
I'm a hopeless lightweight as well and, depending which evening we choose, might also have had a post exam drink (or 2) earlier on so food will definitely be needed

fisil · 27/05/2004 22:22

OK, as we are all confirmed lightweights, what about the Fox & Hounds? Slightly quieter and with a slightly more mature crowd (I always feel about 80 in the Boat House these days - used to be fine when I was 17 myself lol!)

I think croak would prefer Saturday night - am I right?

OP posts:
coppertop · 27/05/2004 22:24

I've never been in the Fox & Hounds but I'm more than willing to give it a go. Saturday's fine with me too.

Croak · 27/05/2004 23:10

Aw thanks you two . I could make either night but will probably be a bit more together (can hope anyway) on Saturday.

fisil · 28/05/2004 10:59

Right, Saturday 5th June, Fox & Hounds (Thorpe Road), say 8pm? That way we can get the kiddies in bed, but still finish early enough for us poor old dears to get in our beauty sleep too!Anyone know if we need to book?

OP posts:
Croak · 28/05/2004 17:14

Yay, thats fine with me. Am disproportionally excited - have never done this before
Don't know about booking as have never been to the Fox and Hounds but could ring if you like.

fisil · 28/05/2004 18:48

Could you? Last time I was there it was a wedding "rehearsal dinner" so it had to be booked because there were over 20 of us. For the four of us I don't know, but seeing as it's miles to the next eating place, there's no reason not to.

OP posts:
helenmc · 28/05/2004 21:21

oh - exciting - sat the 5th at 8pm.

coppertop · 28/05/2004 21:45

Saturday the 5th at 8pm sounds good to me. I'm feeling nervous already!

Croak · 29/05/2004 14:05

Hello Peterborough! Hope you're all having a good Saturday.
I just phoned the Fox and Hounds and the lady told me that they don't take bookings but just to turn up and choose a table.
She did say that its probably better to get there just before or just after 8 to miss the main rush. What do you all think?

helenmc · 29/05/2004 18:47

ok - 7:45 then???
now what shall I wear???

Croak · 30/05/2004 16:54

I've been wondering exactly the same thing

coppertop · 30/05/2004 17:22

Hadn't even thought about what to wear! Aaaaarrrgggh! I'll probably be in trousers and top (depending on the weather). How will we recognise each other?

Can you tell I'm getting nervous??
