Hi Myrtle - I'm not far away, in Dalston, with a four month old boy. Some mums are having a meet-up on Friday in Dalston (see separate thread) if you're interested. Otherwise, I'd be happy to hook up, especially since we're much the same boat! Presume he's your first?

frogs · 12/05/2004 12:00

Hi myrtle, I have a four and half month old baby girl, and two older children. We live rather schizophrenically sandwiched between Dalston and Canonbury.

Do come to Dalston Tchibo on Friday morning, if you fancy.

myrtle · 12/05/2004 12:33

Aelita and Frogs, can't make Friday, I'm afraid. Some other time would be good though. Yes, he is my first.

We're a bus ride away, in the cheap end of Muswell Hill!

Couchpotato · 27/06/2004 01:25

Hi
I've just registered and have a 2 month old - I live in North Finchley and saw there was an NCT Nearly New Sale in Muswell Hill next week - are any of you going?

I would love to meet some other mums! I only know one other person with a child!

Simi · 04/07/2004 20:10

I just registered and saw your message. Live in N1 area off Essex Road in Islington. Have got an 11 week old son Robin and would love to meet other mums in the area. Noticed that your messages have been from May, have you managed to meet in the meantime? Also, do you know of any baby groups in the area?

Posey · 05/07/2004 01:26

Hi Simi.
I'm in Islington although my 2 are older (7 years and 18 months).
But there's a really lovely group I've been going to since dd was small. Its in St. Andrews church in Thornhill Square, meets every Thursday between 10 and 12. Its only a smallish group, very friendly and welcoming, not at all cliquey. Doesn't cost anything, you get a coffee and biscuits. There's a nice selection of toys, soft playmats, activity arches... Nothing fancy, just really relaxing and a gentle environment.
It may not run over the summer holidays but I'd be able to let you know for definite. And it may be changing to Friday come September.
Let me know if you fancy it and I'll look out for you.

Have you been in touch with Surestart at all? They have loads of groups. Ask your HV to put you in touch with your local one.

spacemonkey · 05/07/2004 01:29

I'm moving there next month - if i borrow a baby can i join in?

Posey · 05/07/2004 01:41

Where exactly are you moving to?
I lost track of your moving thread but did add to the one about schools. Are you going to be in Islington?

Posey · 05/07/2004 01:43

Sorry, yes you can borrow a baby, mine if you want and come along. I was really upset when dd was at nursery and we couldn't go any more, and absolutely delighted that having ds meant I could start back again!

spacemonkey · 05/07/2004 02:03

I'll be just off new north road posey, can I hire your baby?

Posey · 06/07/2004 00:57

Spacemonkey, he's quite cute so I charge quite a lot to hire him out!

New North Road isn't that far from me. There certainly are quite a lot of us in this neck of the woods so you should have plenty of people nearby that you already know

Simi · 06/07/2004 14:06

Hi Posey,
Would be very interesting to find out more about the baby group you mentioned, would you mind finding out if it is still on? I am going to a baby massage group but it is only 3 of us at the moment and it would be nice to find other groups to get to know more mums. Thanks

Myrtle and bundle, do you mind if I join you next time you meet up? My boy is nearly 3 months old and live off Essex Road

aelita · 06/07/2004 15:39

I should hopefully be joining you ladies in Highbury/Islington in the next couple of months, if our flat buying (Grosvenor Ave) goes okay. In Dalston at the mo, so not too far away - it would be lovely to meet some of you in advance...

CountessDracula · 06/07/2004 16:09

aelita how is the flat buying going? Did you find solcs ok?

aelita · 07/07/2004 01:02

Yes, thanks for the tip, Countess! They're on the go as we speak, survey next up. Looking forward to actually having a garden for DS, if not by the time he's crawling...

Posey · 07/07/2004 01:31

Simi - I was there today and there was a new face. Wondered if it was you but then realised the baby was too old! It will be on next Thursday and I did ask if it would be running over the summer hols. They weren't definitely decided but I think it probably won't. We may do as previous summers and just meet up in the playground in the Square instead.
I know how important it is meeting mums with babies the same age, mine will seem like a veritable grown up in comparison!, but if you need some company...

Simi · 09/07/2004 15:33

Hi Posey,

You're right, it wasn't me, went to a baby massage on Thursday morning. Would be lovely to meet for a coffee some time, doesn't matter that the children aren't the same age, will just be nice to get to know other mums anyway. Let me know when would be best for you and we can arrange something.

Posey · 09/07/2004 23:58

Hi Simi, it would be nice to meet up sometime. My ds finds babies fascinating, and usually goes "waah, waah" when he sees one even if they're quite happy!

Meeting up is more tricky than normal just now as theres loads of stuff going on with dd's school, not least the summer fete which I'm heavily involved with. I could do Wednesday this week, or sometime next week, maybe Monday or Wednesday. Quite busy then as we're off on holiday.

Let me know what you can do.
posey

Simi · 10/07/2004 18:24

Posey, I am free this Wednesday and next Wednesday and it would be nice to meet up but if you are too busy we can also meet after your hols. I am going to Germany soon to see my family (I am German) but will be back on 10th August. Let me know what you prefer....

Posey · 11/07/2004 23:44

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday. Tomorrows looking decidedly busy, my list of "to do's" for the fete is growing by the minute.
Can we keep next week flexible for the moment? Again it really depends on how much I manage to get done for our holiday.
Hope you don't think I'm trying to fob you off as I'm cetainly not. Its just a mad time at the moment.

Simi · 14/07/2004 17:22

No problem. Why don't I contact you when I get back from Germany (mid August)and we arrange something then?
Have a lovely holiday, hope the weather is better than here.......
