CITY Christmas lunch

..okay, I know that we've only just had a (very enjoyable) lunch but I thought that it might be good to plan ahead and, if we can find space, arrange a City MNers' Christmas lunch.
What does everyone think? I know that there are lots of Christmas events in the City but, speaking from my own experience, it does seem as if we busy mums tend to miss out. So, I would be happy to organise, or help organise, a lunch if this suggestion meets with general approval.

New list is

  1. Anniemac
  2. Dinosaur
  3. Novembergirl
  4. Jura
  5. 12yeargap
  6. Galaxy
  7. Myself
8-10? Marina and children

I will try and ring around some places to see where has room - just have it in mind that time is suddenly speeding up as we approach Christmas.

I guess Giraffe might be the best option if we will have some children there, so unless anyone tells me that is really boring in the next day or two, I will try and book a table there again...

frogs · 20/11/2006 09:57

Ooh, missed this! 18th December is good for me too, but I will be accompanied by dd2. In fact 18th December will be her 3rd birthday, so a nice sociable lunch will be just the thing.

Would love to come, and will be accompanied by 5 month old Max, if that's ok.

Mumpbump · 21/11/2006 10:24

So we are now

  1. Anniemac
  2. Dinosaur
  3. Novembergirl
  4. Jura
  5. 12yeargap
  6. Galaxy
  7. Myself
8/9. Frog and froglet 10/11. Kiwikat and Max 12-14? Marina and children - pls confirm how many children you will have in tow!!

I will call Giraffe today (hopefully) and make a provisional booking for 14. If anyone can't make it, please let me know so I can adjust the booking. With any luck, I'll be back later today to confirm the booking...

Mumpbump · 21/11/2006 11:27

Right. Have spoken to Giraffe and provisionally booked a table for 10 adults and 4 children. They are doing a Xmas menu for £10, but say that you can order from their normal menu if you pre-order. They have emailed me their menus so if you would like one, email me on helena_biggs at hotmail dot com and I will forward it to you...

Novembergirl · 21/11/2006 13:19

Mumpbump, you definitely are a star...

Thank you so much for taking the initiative and organising us (actually, that should read "me" ). Still having dreadful problems with Internet connection and have been worrying/feeling guilty about finalising the plans ; so am greatly relieved to see that the efficient Mumpbump has sorted it all out in my absence....

Looking forward to 18th December and hoping I am forgiven (will make amends when we meet).

I thought that you're internet connection might be playing up again. I was a bit worried that I might be stepping on your toes (metaphorically) so am pleased that you don't mind me getting on and organising. Phew!

Mumpbump · 21/11/2006 15:47

Sorry - your not you're!!

galaxy · 21/11/2006 21:04

I am still ok to come - where's Giraffe?

Mumpbump · 21/11/2006 21:41

Giraffe is in the new bit of Spitalfields Market. Not sure of the address as I couldn't find a listing on yell.com, but if you head for Spitalfields and ask, you can't go wrong!!

Marina · 22/11/2006 10:04

You really don't mind if I bring the Gruesome Twosome .
Well...OK then...but I want honest objections now, please. They are seven and three, not cute babes in arms. They are quite talkative...
Although I have now spotted that the froglet will be there too so they won't be the only children present.

Thanks mumpbump!

Mumpbump · 22/11/2006 10:06

Froggy, can you let me know if the froglet will need a highchair or whether you will (bravely) manage the froglet on your lap...

Marina · 22/11/2006 10:08

Oh and Max too. Excellent, I'm a confirmed then thanks mumpbump!

frogs · 22/11/2006 14:29

The froglet principessa will be three that day, and will be requiring her own chair. She may condescend to sit in a highchair, or she may not. Who knows?!

Luckily Giraffe usually have stacks of highchairs, so hopefully it won't be a problem.

Mumpbump · 22/11/2006 14:35

Sorry - confused. It's Max that may or may not need a highchair... Kiwikat?

Mumpbump · 01/12/2006 15:44

Oh the irony of it all... I have a hearing in the week of the 11th which will probably overun into this week so it's looking unlikely that I will make lunch on 18th. I won't cancel my place until Monday morning, but if I don't turn up, I'm very sorry and I have you all have a good one! Will bump next week for any more confirmations...

KiwiKat · 04/12/2006 21:49

Tried Max in a highchair for the first time at Giraffe in Marylebone on Saturday, and he's still a bit little for it - we had to stuff it with our coats to keep him upright. It's probably a good idea to get him used to them though.

galaxy · 07/12/2006 11:04

Sorry ladies, I wont be able to make this as I now have to be in Glasgow Bloody work!

Mumpbump · 07/12/2006 11:25

No problems... So the list is now:

  1. Anniemac
  2. Dinosaur
  3. Novembergirl
  4. Jura
  5. 12yeargap
  6. Myself
7/8. Frog and froglet 9/10. Kiwikat and Max 11-13? Marina and children - pls confirm how many children you will have in tow!!

PLS SAY IF YOU CAN'T MAKE IT AND I WILL RING FINAL NUMBERS THROUGH ON FRIDAY...

hoxtonchick · 07/12/2006 11:33

oooh, i'm working from home next tues, might try & pop along .
