OK, Brula booked for FRIDAY 1st December!
For own private room! 2 things, we must arrive between 7-8 pm (no rpoblem, surely!) and if there are 10 or more of us they can go off a la carte for different menu (if we want).

So - who's in?

(Not stepping on yr toes, oh cheekboned one, this is as organised as I get!)

OP posts:
pudding77 · 16/11/2006 15:56

oops, hit return before I'd finished -

I was going to say 'and I'd rather have someone I know do them!'

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 16/11/2006 15:59

MrsB, we do actually. We had some pics taken professionally of dd recently so I'll probably use those.

Hoxo,
I've emailed you.

MrsBojangles · 16/11/2006 18:08

pudding I do do pictures LOL either can plant them infront of a backdrop or we go out somewhere. Uwila was my first victim (went otu to Kew and followed her ds/dd around) and I'm currently waiting for her frames to be delivered. That crowd are a bit slow but her's are made to measure frames

Have a look at pics I've taken and let me know if you're interested.

As for pricing... that's still pretty fluid so if you tell me how much you'd have paid for the other 'professional' then we can 'chat'

hoxohoxohoxo · 16/11/2006 18:45

Hi all: I did not make myself clear earlier on this restaurant/ outsiders thing.
I was suggesting that if we don't have enough MNs on here to make up a decent crwod , then we can invite our 'other' friends.
The restaurant is not pushing for this. It was my suggestion.
But then I've lost count again of definates

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 05:50

Oxo - still not sure if I can afford it

If I did come could deffo bring two or three Richmond Mums in tow though. Its just a bit dear really....

hoxohoxohoxo · 17/11/2006 08:00

Fair enough Foxy.
I need to let teh restaurant know menu and numbers by the end of next week, though. Can you have a ponder?

Paddlechick666 · 17/11/2006 08:27

don't think i'm going to make it either.

money and childcare i'm afraid.

sfxmum · 17/11/2006 08:51

i think the point is a meet up rather than where, so if too dear maybe a change of venue? no matter how nice i think i would go for company, just a suggestion

hoxohoxohoxo · 17/11/2006 11:22

the suggestion is a good one. However, we have booked a restaurant so if the overwhelming vote is to cancel it then let's do it now.
I think there are quite a few coming so for now all I need to get my head around is certain numbers, please.

Thanks

pudding77 · 17/11/2006 20:57

i think at the minute we have 4/5 definites, just had a quick glance back over the thread:

Hoxo
Festive
MrsB
Sfx
Pudding

I know a few people said yes at the beginning (2cute, quokka, lemonaid, nanou) but not sure if they're still a yes or not?

Would somewhere like Pizza Express be ok if we're not going to go to Brula? I know it's boring but I've always thought of it as a bit cheap & cheerful!

sfxmum · 17/11/2006 21:00

which ever people choose really i just want to spend some time talking to grown ups

have you decided where to go? shame Bath is out, love that place, along with Durham, gorgeous.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 21:15

Oxo/SFX - I had an idea, which is that if you look at the Brula menu, they do a fab Sunday lunch for about £15. Perhaps we could do a Sunday lunch instead (with out DPs and Kids of course ).

Just a thought - or maybe go to TJDuffy's instead?

Or even bring and share at one of our homes?

I have a general problem a Christmas which is that I have about 6 Christmas meals to attend (Book Club, School Mums, Richmond Mums, two or three work ones etc) and it creates a real financial strain. I bet everyone else has this problem too. This year I'm just having to be brutal and say no to the expensive ones.

pudding77 · 17/11/2006 21:22

We're going to Cardiff sfx! Bath and Cambridge were our options and every hotel was booked! Having said that, I'm really keen to go. I've only ever been to Cardiff for work (which was never a stopover)! Dh was keen because he's never been and he thinks it looks really nice in Torchwood lol

pudding77 · 17/11/2006 21:24

Just read foxie's post - I'm really flexible where we go etc but can only really do that Friday or otherwise after the 5 Dec. We're moving house on the 5th so the rest of that weekend will be spent packing/cleaning etc.

Obviously you can do it without me though

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 21:25

Torchwood - don't tell my DS or you may arrive to find him tucked in your boot!

Have a brillaint time Puds

sfxmum · 17/11/2006 21:27

good a reason as any, enjoy

foxie - all good ideas, am avoiding some meet ups with former work so should be ok my other friends are all low maintenance but i am intrigued by book clubdo you read or just a good excuse for a good old gossip?

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 21:37

sfx - we meet 4-6 weekly and read the prescribed book in between. She who chose the book cooks a meal for the rest. We spend about 10 minutes discussing literature, and about four hours drinking alcohol and having a real laugh, gossip, catch up, discussion, moan etc

We've had the club for about 4 years now!

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 21:39

sfx - I keep hinking we should do a coffee soon, as we live so close to each other. I am around Saturdays if you fancy coming over for a natter and the kids can play

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 17/11/2006 21:40

Foxie,

I'm intrigued too. I always wanted to join a book club on account of being a voracious reader but never had the courage too. What's your book club like?

mellowandreadyforchristmas · 17/11/2006 21:42

Oops, just saw your post about book club foxie. Sounds like a good laugh. I was thinking heavy duty book club but was clearly wrong.

sfxmum · 17/11/2006 21:52

i like that maybe we could do a virtual book club i love reading too but since dd stopped exclusive bf i have almost no time was looking at pitiful list of books read this year and its about a third of the usual.
currently reading The Nightwatch because one must read the lesbian book to discuss with mil at christmas

cheers for invite foxie will do sometime. or maybe even pop over to good old Starbucks, i do occasionaly have a craving for caramel machiatoor whatever the gooey thing is called, i do frustrate the poor staff.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 22:12

I always allow myself about 2o-30 mins a night in bed - its my only "me time". When DS was born I used to carry him upstairs, with a glass of wine and a book Mine have both always slept through the night and am sure its the breasmilk laced with Chardonnay

We have a rule in the book club that if you really hate the book you don't have to read it, but its inroduced me to so many good authors I wuld never have thought to read.

Am working my way hrough about seven Fay Weldon books a the moment (one by one). I bought them in Oxfam in Ealing for 50p each - she is brillaintly witty and funny.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 22:13

sfx - is your MIL gay?

sfxmum · 17/11/2006 22:28

oh foxie no but she reads one 'risque'book per yearno she is quite well read actually and lovely even if she has a strange Jilly Cooper addiction, bless her

i have a passion for Marguerite Yourcenar which no one in England reads plus quite a few non english writers.

harktheheraldfoxessing · 17/11/2006 22:51

sfx - we should do some swaps - I've got about 400 books in our house which I will have to cull at some point.

I could sell them couldn't I - 3 novels for a pack of Dr Who Cards?
