I will be going back to work in late April and will be keen to join the slickers in May.

Kayleigh · 07/04/2004 15:24

OldieMum, that'll be great. There's a meet-up on the 7th May when some of us are bringing kids, and some aren't if you are around. Look forward to meeting you. X

in my diary, thx kayleigh for organising. vivat will you still be around or will you have finished?

TurnAgainCat · 07/04/2004 15:35

I will come work permitting to both. Thanks Kayleigh for organising. Seems amazing to have a group like this of friendly, inspiring working mothers.

kaz33 · 07/04/2004 15:45

and me...

Kayleigh · 07/04/2004 15:48

Wow ! Brilliant response. Lots of lurkers coming out of the woodwork

OP posts:
excel · 07/04/2004 15:50

me too!
I'm looking forward to meeting you all.

excel · 07/04/2004 15:52

well you have made us feel so welcome. Thanks

Kayleigh · 07/04/2004 15:55

I'm just so happpy to have someone else to chat too that won't be telling me about their morning sickness, or their maternity knickers, or what a brilliant time they are going to have on maternity leave

OP posts:
dinosaur · 07/04/2004 15:56

Can I just intervene here to state CATEGORICALLY that I have never mentioned maternity knickers at a mumsnet lunch?

Thank you.

That's all.

And yes, I am around on Wednesday 21 April

vivat · 08/04/2004 13:48

i'm sure i haven't mentioned knickers either - i may be guilty of looking forward to my maternity leave a bit too enthusiastically though......

April 21st i think is going to be my last day, so will try and come

Kayleigh · 08/04/2004 16:38

vivat that was good timing

OP posts:
frogs · 08/04/2004 18:32

Would like to come too, if allowed, though only live near the City, not work there.

But slightly worried you might all be mad axe-murderers. Or terrifyingly successful and rich corporate finance people in power suits with immaculate nails and four-inch heels.

Please reassure...

Kayleigh · 08/04/2004 20:16

frogs you are almost right, we are all mad axe-murderers with immaculate nails and four-inch heels.

Please come - we're lovely really. Well I am

I am an overweight academic who dresses like a flood victim...

madgirl · 08/04/2004 20:48

lol kayleigh. frogs, promise i will wear my beige, toned down power suit instead of my pin stripe. ha ha, wait til you meet us and see that we are all NORMAL - have a horrible feeling the name city slickers may have frightened people off but i think our meet ups are named after the dry cleaning chain in the city, not because we are all horribly successful and well dressed. (apologies to those in the group that are horribly successful and well dressed )anyway, i'll be in my trackie bottoms cos i'll be on maternity by then, and i am looking forward to meeting everyone as well as seeing the city slickers again

Kayleigh · 13/04/2004 10:38

bump...

OP posts:
dinosaur · 13/04/2004 11:09

Yes, please come frogs. Kayleigh DOES have immaculate nails, but we can make her sit on her hands (she'll have to drink her coffee through a straw).

I am scruffy beyond description and not an axe-murderer - is that reassuring?

Twinkie · 13/04/2004 11:16

Oooohhh please come new people - everyone is lovely and they are all so friendly and nice!!

I won't be wearing a suit (as am already growing out of clothes!!) and I am not particularly successful - just lucky to have the nicest boss inthe world (nicest because he is never here!!)

PS!! - Kayleigh needs new friends for when we are all off having our babies!!

Kayleigh · 13/04/2004 11:21

madgirl may be right. Maybe the "City Slickers" thread put people off. Next time will post under "City Scruffs" . Unless anyones got any better ideas !!!

madgirl · 13/04/2004 11:33

Please count me in this time!

New people - I was about a week old in MN time the first (& so far only) time I went to this - others couldn't have been more welcoming.

Only anxiety is that meet-ups seem to have a fertility effect & I have enough thank you.

vivat · 13/04/2004 13:04

congrats madgirl, here's to a fantastic time - i've got 1.5 weeks left and am counting the minutes.
