Mums in Swansea/South Wales surrounding area?

Scrolling down the calls for mothers in certain areas, I see we must be under-represented in Wales, or anti-social (no one's interested in meeting up!).

So I'm new here and wondering if there are any mothers in my area... Swansea particularly but also Neath/Port Talbot/Carmarthen, maybe Bridgend... please post back either for chat or maybe to meet up at some point...

I have a 7-month old baby boy called Ben and don't do too much in the week... baby swim is about to end, I have one friend from work off on maternity leave, too, who I meet up with once a week, and play group once a week, otherwise we're in the house!

Oops, I kind of meant Wednesday instead of Thursday to go with Bron's availability...

I can't do tuesdays(or mondays) but weds and friday fine for me!

jac34 · 17/04/2004 17:46

I can only do Mondays and Fridays, I'm in work the middle of the week. An earlyish lunch would be fine with me as I have to get back to pick up DS's from school at 3:05, that would give me planty of time.

lindsay7777 · 18/04/2004 12:37

So what about a Friday meet-up, 12/12.30 lunch @ IKEA?

Yay or nay to these dates...
April 23
April 30
May 7

Any of them suits me

jac34 · 19/04/2004 08:33

23rd or 30th fine by me, I'm going to the hair dressers on 23rd but hopeing for morning appointment. However, do have a funeral coming up, don't know day yet, but could be 23rd but I should know for def. tomorrow.

lindsay7777 · 19/04/2004 12:43

How about the 23 since that seems to be the best for everyone-- this Friday?

Since it's so soon if anyone knows how to contact the other SWales mothers who might not have seen the post yet, please do let them know, hopefully we'll get a few coming then!

Any suggestions on how to recognise each other? Perhaps wearing a certain colour, carrying a certain thing? Not keen to wear a sign, really...

Also, what time seems better, 12 or 12.30?

Oh, if anyone needs directions, try the IKEA website, and if you need more help than that, then e-mail me.

hello all, I am still here, but we've just moved house (about half a mile up the road!) and I've not been online for a while.

I can't make this week's meet up but would be interested if you do it again soon. We are off to Disney Paris on Sunday

Lindsay, I don't live far from you at all - contact me through mumsnet if you like! I have 2 DDs, one nearly 4 and one nearly 2.

emsiewill · 19/04/2004 18:17

Hi all, would be interested in meeting up with old friends and new, but weekdays in Cardiff not good for me. Maybe we can do the next one at the weekend? (without children? ).

lindsay7777 · 20/04/2004 09:08

How do you contact someone through Mumsnet?

Emsiewill, we could see who's up for a weekend meet-up next time and what the consensus is...

Lindsay, if you go to the top of this page, there's a link under useful stuff.

Emsiewill, I can more easily do a weekend meeting, especially in Cardiff, as if I've got to travel there's no way I'm bringing my two terrors. I wouldn't get to talk to anyone, I'd be rescuing DD2 from dangerous situations - she is the child who knows no fear. Perhaps we could have a mums only (or mums and little babies) lunch another time soon?

Might as well tell you all while we're here - I'm pg again, due in October!

Congratulations Cerys When will your nearly 2 year old be 2?

Freddiecat · 20/04/2004 12:13

Hello - I think I might pop along too! I will be bringing DS with me (who is 2 today!). I am tallish, blond and 30 weeks pregnant and will probably look haggared (if I don't it's because I had time to apply loads of makeup).

mummytojames · 20/04/2004 12:18

i will try and make it ds being ok i will be with 7 month old baby and dp i am 5ft short blonde hair just got it cut short

cerys · 20/04/2004 12:33

Thanks for your congratulations! A bit more positive than a colleague who looked horrified and said I was mad (and she wasn't joking).

My DDs both have June birthdays , so there will be 2 years 4 months between DD2 and the baby.

Hope you all enjoy meeting up. I still haven't made it to IKEA yet, but we do need a few things for the house..

happy1 · 20/04/2004 14:03

I've noticed nobody has said what time would be best- 12 or 12.30 is fine with me, but what about everyone else?
I will be with ds (2 next week) and dd (7 weeks). I've no idea what I'll be wearing, but I'm short(!) with longish brown hair. My ds will be wearing a red jumper with a hood. Are we meeting in the cafe?

Congratulations cerys .

Bron - good job for those who haven't yet met us both that I'm not coming. As you may remember, I, too, am short and round with red hair and glasses

(Although wouldn't have described you like that - oh God, please don't take offence )

lindsay7777 · 20/04/2004 21:01

Oh, the pressure of choosing an outfit ahead of time... but DS and I will both wear red on Friday (DS will be in full red, just a red top for me), DS is 8 months and very blond and alert (unless sleeping) and I am not small although I'd like to think I'm not huge either, 5'7", dark blond hair and glasses (usually-- occasionally contacts!).

Looks like ermsiewill and cerys can't make it, but Bron, happy1, mummytojames and Freddiecat and I can all come? Any other people coming? mum2ela? Jac34? Kbaby?

OP posts:
lindsay7777 · 20/04/2004 21:06

Oh, let's say that we'll meet from 12, and those who can be there then can come then, and those who are habitually late or can't quite make it by then due to pick-ups, etc., can come a few minutes later... I'm thinking we'll probably be there until at least 1/1.30...
