Would anyone like a feminist meet-up?

Following on from this thread (not suggesting you wouldn't be welcome if you weren't on it!): www.mumsnet.com/Talk/_chat/2122564-MNHQ-transphobia-guidelines-part-2?

I'd love to meet some of you and I get the impression some of you would like to meet up too, so how about it? And if this is a good idea, where works?

So maybe another Facebook page for those who might like to goto the feminism in London conference together?

Lovecat · 04/07/2014 11:42

Oh, Norma, several of us met up to do that a few years ago (and directed Sandi Toksvig to the loo...:o) - it was really nice to have company. Unfortunately I can't go this year as I'm away.

I read my sister's copy of The Female Eunuch once while very, very bored and house-sitting. GG wildly contradicted herself in the space of 2 chapters and it was all a bit 'this is what I've experienced therefore ALL women must too'. I don't think you're missing out too much Wink

AnnieLobeseder · 04/07/2014 11:58

SamG76 - eh? Oh, I see, you are pointing out my poor sentence structure. Erm, thanks? Hmm

Norma/Lovecat - ooh, I have such a huge crush on Sandi Toksvig. Do you think she might be there again

SamG76 · 04/07/2014 12:38

apologies, Annie, I know you don;t find the subject amusing, but it was quite a funny image, and LRD's reference to making the cut just added to the humour....

HeartsTrumpDiamonds · 04/07/2014 12:54

I love Sandi Toksvig. And Clare Balding. Blonde lesbians generally.

My first intro to ST was when we were living in Amsterdam and we could get BBC1 and BBC2 and after years of no English-language telly, let me tell you this was sheer heaven. Little Britain had just started and one of the blocks of flats was called Sandi Toksvig Towers. (I think it was the sketch where Matt Lucas is in the wheelchair). For some reason her name stuck in my head. A couple of months later we had to move to London quite suddenly and one of the first people I heard on radio was this Sandi Toksvig. I totally remembered her name and it somehow felt like a coincidence for some odd reason. Now of course she's everywhere and I can't get away from the woman Grin

BTW SamG I did think your post was quite funny Grin Blush

Hello there.

Could I have a pm for the fb group.

Thank you.

ZennorCalling · 04/07/2014 13:56

Hello I'd like to come if I can, I'm in Oxon so can do London easily. Pls can someone PM me the FB group details? Thank you.

antimatter · 04/07/2014 14:05

I also just PM-ed you.
I have been thinking a lot about that thread and would be glad to meet with likeminded people to discuss.

Dragonlette · 04/07/2014 21:14

I'd love to come but live too far away to get to London easily :(

QueenStromba · 04/07/2014 21:40

Can someone PM me with the link please?

MyNameIsInigoMontoya · 04/07/2014 21:43

I would be interested in a meet-up in theory, but unlikely to manage one really Smile especially if it was in London or otherwise "down South"! But hello anyway!

OublietteBravo · 04/07/2014 22:11

I'd like to come - I mostly lurk on the boards, but I'd definitely class myself as a feminist.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 04/07/2014 22:12

PM me your name on FB and I'll add you.

I'd love to come and sit in the corner with BIWI

I live in Edinburgh but collaborate with plenty of people in London, I can set up a work meeting to coincide :)

SconeRhymesWithGone · 04/07/2014 22:46

This is such a great idea, LRD. I hope I can join in future ones.

LRDtheFeministDragon · 04/07/2014 23:00

I'm not sure it was my idea (various people mentioned it), but I'll happily take the credit. Wink

It'd be lovely if you could make future ones.

Just to repeat - if you want in, PM me your FB name so I can find you and add you.

vezzie · 09/07/2014 12:16

Hi! Have PM'd you, LRD.

Hi BIWI! Haven't seen you for ages. How are you?

CaptChaos · 09/07/2014 20:32

Would I be ok to come?

I'm south of London, will be moving up north soon, but would love to meet you all.

chibi · 09/07/2014 20:35

i would like to come, i am less of a sour misandrist killjoy in person and frequently prone to dancing given appropriate music

no idea if that entices anyone

minipie · 09/07/2014 20:40

Ooh I'm keen. I'm not on the Fem boards much but would be lovely to meet you all - don't have many feminist friends in RL (despite best efforts).

I'm not on Facebook though is there an alternative route to joining in?

NuggetofPurestGreen · 09/07/2014 20:46

Bah I want to go! Not in UK though.

Can we have an irish feminist meet up??! Wink

chibi · 09/07/2014 21:24

sorry, i didn't mean to make it awkward, ignore my intrusion
