I'm just near Brighton and there are a few of us who try to get together occasionally for a boozy lunch! I too have a 9 yr old, girl though, and also a 3 yr old boy. I'm up for a get together -anyone else fancy getting a date in the diary?

noddy5 · 27/01/2004 16:04

I would love to meet I havent got masses of friends here due to a long period of ill health when I first moved but love the sound of a boozy lunch Will have to be a day when my dp is off though!

I live in Brighton but haven't been to any of the meet-ups yet - too scared! Maybe I will persuade myself to go if another one is organised. Whereabouts do you live noddy and mabs? I am in the Hanover area. I have a 5 yr old ds and a 16m old dd.

noddy5 · 27/01/2004 17:07

I moved a couple of months ago to Steyning, but previously was in Hove. Kids are still at school there. Know Fiveways area fairly well - where are you trying to move to , is yours son's school not near you?

Tortington · 27/01/2004 20:34

MABS · 27/01/2004 20:42

Hi Custy honey , yeah lets be decisive for February - lunch on Sun 15th or Sat 28th any good ? Come on the rest of you....

Twink · 27/01/2004 21:51

Oh bugger, at the London Christmas meetup Cam challenged me to sort out the next Brighton one (but it was late, & I might have erm, misremembered) and I can't do Feb at all so Cam please may I organise the next-but-one instead ?

I've got a major appointment in Reading in the first week of March which means I can't do weekends away/drinking/eating stacks during Feb but as soon as it's over ....

PS I know lots about snow too

noddy5 · 27/01/2004 22:07

I can do feb 15th

Gem13 · 27/01/2004 22:09

I keep promising to come to one but in a couple of weeks I will have a brand new baby to hamper my already slack social life.

Maybe next year...?

debster · 28/01/2004 10:04

As a possible venue Quod in Brighton is doing a special 2 course lunch during jan/Feb for £5. I've been there with my kids and they are very helpful and child friendly although they don't stretch to providing toys/games etc. They're were just very accommodating. I liked it very much and it's quite a smart looking place too. Great wine. I could do 15th or 28th but would prefer 28th. (bit further away so can pluck up courage!)

noddy5 · 28/01/2004 10:10

Quod is fab I would prefer the 15th but will do the 28th if I can get organised.Dont worry about plucking up courage were all in the same situation!

MABS - could I just go off-thread and ask if you know when the next NCT sale is in Steyning please?

The last one was the best I've been to and if I have a girl next month I'm going to have to stock up on clothes.

Thanks.

Tortington · 28/01/2004 15:43

15th sounds good then, thats that.

are you bringing your brats, not so subtle i know but am wondering how boozy it will get with brats around

MABS · 28/01/2004 21:06

Defo no kiddies with me , but where the hell is Quod? Was it called something else previously, thought I knew most watering holes in Brighton !?

Gem - will find out about next Steyning NCT sale for you , where do they hold it?

Debster - would love to meet you.

Cam, Dannie ,Scummy - are you around at all then? xx

Gem13 · 28/01/2004 21:22

MABS - the sale is held in the Community Centre/ Village Hall building next to a big grassy area. There's a carpark there and recycling facilities. Can't remember the name of it but it was signposted through the village. I was on a mission to get some bargains last time so just followed my nose!

Good for toys and equipment.

debster · 29/01/2004 12:11

Quod is on the corner of New Road and North Street. It's been open about a year I think?

I won't be bringing the kids along.

I feel a bit guilty cos I'm also going out for a "romantic" meal with dp the day before for Valentines. Any one been to The Black Chapati?

miggy · 29/01/2004 12:29

about 13 yrs ago-it was great then

debster · 29/01/2004 13:38

Glad to hear you enjoyed it albeit 13 years ago!

Cam · 30/01/2004 19:41

I can't do 28th but can do 15th. Twink, I remember nothing that I said at the Xmas meetup, probably just as well! Debster are you the organiser this time then, please don't be scared of us we're not at all frightening (much). I will email Dannie if she doesn't see this thread soon.
Love Cam xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

MABS · 31/01/2004 07:27

OP posts:
MABS · 31/01/2004 19:03

Think so - who can definitely do the 15th Feb in Brighton?

Gem13 · 31/01/2004 19:11

As you tuck in, think of me enjoying the culinary delights of the Royal Sussex County Hospital!

MABS · 31/01/2004 19:45

oh I will Gem - and the catering there really is a delight... What date are you due?
