Have asked before, is there any body out there. I feel as if no one lives in Streatham. If yo do, don't be shy. I can wait to meet others around here.

Hi Nickie. Sorry I too live near Streatham Hill, rather than the common, but glad to see other Streatham mums on here, whichever end they're from!

Hallgerda · 12/09/2006 07:39

I've just had an e-mail about an event in Hillside Gardens which may be of interest to those who live nearby.

Family Funday (put on by Friends of Hillside Gardens and London and Quadrant Housing Trust) to be held in Hillside Gardens Park on Saturday 23rd September 2006 between 12-4pm.

Entertainment, competitions, daredevil challenges, participation fun for all the family:
Euro-Bungee Trampolines
Bouncy Castle
5-a-side Football Tournament
Tennis Competition
Acrobatic show & workshop
Family theatrical storytelling
Djembe Drum workshop
Poi display & workshop (Maori swinging ribbons) Face Painting

The event will continue whatever the weather!

Last year's was good, but quite crowded (I'm not suggesting a meet-up as it could resemble Where's Wally) but do say hello if you spot me (unflattering but recognisable description further down thread).

thanks Hallgerda keep missing this thread obviously - only checked it today because there was a link through to meet ups from the news letter

Nickiesw16 and cjs76, I'm really near you too - next road over actually madeira rd/oakdale rd area DD (my youngest) is three in November. Are any of you around during the day? I work, but just evenings atm.

Actually, does anyone know of any good M&T groups this end of Streatham as well?

Must dash- on my way to Croydon to try and get DS1 a fancy dress outfit for a party tomorrow...

serenity · 26/09/2006 10:10

Anyone out there?

Heeelllllloooooooooooooooo

Hallgerda · 26/09/2006 10:33

Yes, serenity, I'm still here .

serenity · 27/09/2006 16:16

Hello hallgerda - we have very extended conversations on here, don't we?

Anyone able to answer my M&T question? Looked some up on netmums, but none of them sound right (lots of Mum and baby groups, and I'm looking for somewhere to take a great big gangling almost three year old)

Blu · 27/09/2006 16:22

Serenity - is there one attached to that church next to Sainsbury's? Totspots, or something? I think DS used to go with his CM when he was about 2.5 / 3. They did a lot of art.

serenity · 27/09/2006 16:30

I'll have to check, thanks Blu. It would make a change to go to one within walking distance!

That sainsburys is reopening tomorrow after being closed for refurbishment, so I'll check both out at the same time. (How sad is that? think I need a social life..........I did work there though, so i have a small excuse for being curious))

Hallgerda · 28/09/2006 10:55

serenity, have you checked the Families listing for playgroups/toddler groups etc here ?

Hallgerda · 28/09/2006 13:18

Blu, next time someone asks you whether you live "betwixt the commons", I've just found out the estate agent-ese for SW2. It's "South London's West End" according to some junk mail I've just received about a new developmemt. I hope you're feeling better.

Blu · 28/09/2006 20:55

Hallgerda - that's hilarious!
Did you see last week's Evening Standard Property supplement? Apparantly Streatham is the new hotspot, due to it's 'fabulous' shopping. Not because the FamilyBlu are moving there???

I'm still limping - that's how you will recognise me if you see me in the area!

angelgabriel · 17/10/2006 22:58

I've been a member of Mumsnet since my ds was born nearly 4 years ago, but have never messaged. I'm amazed there are all these mums who live in my area (Streatham Hill) communicating like this. Its fab. We've lived here over a year and love the area. More of a community than Brixton where we were before. We are even on speaking terms with the neighbours.

Do any of you know a good local not expensive child friendly hairdresser? - tried All About Hair - they were a bit funny about doing a squirmy child's hair.

HallgerdaLongcloak · 18/10/2006 14:30

Toppers on Amesbury Avenue managed my wriggly children

HallgerdaLongcloak · 18/10/2006 14:31

Oh, and hello and welcome, angelgabriel
