Here we are Smile.

Oh and I am now tiger mother as big gig having issues concentrating and always following what teacher asks her to do alone. She understands but just won't/can't concentrate.

Teacher is lovely so after trying praise and stars to get her to do it, it is now lose your break/lunch to finish it. So far this seems to be having more effect.

All a bit harsh as she is little but on balance I think better to learn about discipline and doing what asked at school now rather than later when it is more engrained.

LaGuerta · 14/02/2013 12:49

LOL @ "difficult child, odd parent" Grin

In what way does this make you a tiger mother? Sounds as though the teacher is just doing her job. I am resisting the tiger mother urge to put DS1 down for an after school music group that is starting after half term and he would undoubtedly love. He does two things already (gym and swimming) and I don't think he should do more. Plus I don't like trailing round to after school activities trying to amuse Ds2

DomesticCEO · 14/02/2013 14:25

Oh god, mums who blame their kids crap behaviour on their gender really wind me up!! So she thinks if she had a daughter instead of a son they'd behave?? Hmm Grrrrrr! I'm liking her less and less!

There will be pics a plenty of the new Lego room Gig Grin.

Re: difficult child, odd parent - given DS2's behaviour, I'm wondering just how odd I am? Grin Wink

On other news, my dad started his ABs on Monday and was as sick as a dog so has had to come straight back off them again - and this was only one lot, he's supposed to work up to taking 3! The consultant is now at a bit of a loss and has sent his biopsy results to a specialist clinic in London - the wait goes on Sad.

On a happier note, glad you're finding work a welcome distraction Gig.

Oh, and Mr Tumble has just submitted a recipe for our charity cookbook - much excitement Grin!

LaGuerta · 14/02/2013 14:47

I blame my DH Wink. I am of course completely normal.

Gigondas · 14/02/2013 17:03

Tiger mum I suppose as being strict and honest when not done well. Which is probably sense.

And CEO ds2 fails odd child test as dh and I think he is great (dh has real soft spot for him and ds1 which is unusual for him). Odd is like my step sisters kids when kids raise general eyebrow and get wtf response.

The music group sounds great lag- I would sign him up.

Gigondas · 14/02/2013 17:05

I can lend your "friend" both of my girls if she wants to see how girls are . Obviously mini gig very young, but she is on same planet, that minister who thinks horse in food is due to criminal conspiracy is on , if thinks girls = good.

LaGuerta · 14/02/2013 17:54

No need, she quite often borrows her neighbour's daughter at school run time.

DomesticCEO · 14/02/2013 19:22

Aw bless your dh, Gig - I did notice there was quite a bond between your dh and the boys (and your DSS!) last time we were over. Very sweet Smile.

Grin at horse meat criminal conspiracy!

DTisMYdoctor · 14/02/2013 20:08

Lego room sounds great - looking forward to seeing the pics. I really must finish DS's room - I promised Gig pics! The boys will love bunk beds - Struan thinks his mid sleeper is brilliant - two words though - fitted sheets!!! It's a bugger to change the bed! Grin I'd do the same re putting ds2 in a bed ahead of the holiday too LaG. DS went into a bed quite early I recall, and he was fine with it bar his historical sleeping issue which were unrelated. Since he went into a full sized bed, his sleeping has improved loads!

I'm not that au fait with the 'tiger mum' expression, but your approach to big gig doesn't sound unreasonable Gig.

After school clubs - I've not had to consider it yet obviously, but I think two after school activities is plenty tbh LaG, though I appreciate it's hard when you know it's something he loves and it's good to let them try different things to explore what their interests are. Mind you, in typing that I realised that DS currently does swimming, gym and mini-kickers out with nursery, and we pay for him to do drama and French at nursery. Blush I'm going to be on here starting one of those MN threads (that I've seen before) wailing 'can I fit a sixth after school activity in for my genius pfb' Grin. That said, he'll be in some kind of after school care (which I'm a bit Sad about) so in reality we might struggle to fit anything in! I really need to start looking at after school clubs/childminders soon.

Where has Deb gone? Do we think she's still waiting by the phone?

Thanks for all the comments re: the floor. I am erring towards just leaving it, though have the odd panic that the water that seeped under could cause damage/mould/damp either under the floor or hidden under the kitchen cupboards. It's a concrete floor though, so not like there are any floorboards to rot or anything...

Gigondas · 14/02/2013 20:26

tiger mother

Wow at all s does dt Grin.

And yes- where is deb? We want news .

DTisMYdoctor · 14/02/2013 20:40

It's just lazy parenting really Wink. We have him doing swimming/gym/football on non nursery days so that even when it's really miserable out (we live in Scotland remember Grin we know he gets some exercise! Oh, and we can go to the gym while he's there or have tea and cake in the cafe the one good thing about our area is there is a great leisure centre, small children's library and small play park next to each other about 5 minutes walk which helps keep us occupied on a Monday now that I've cut out all my not very nice 'mum pals!

Come on deb!

DomesticCEO · 14/02/2013 21:06

DS1 does swimming on a Monday, gym Tuesday and drama Friday - but we're dropping gym in the summer term as 3 activities is too much and he wants to do more play dates!

disguisedeb · 17/02/2013 09:06

I'm sorry, busy last week before half term at school, 1st offer rejected so increased it , and heard yesterday that they have accepted that in principle. But as we are awaiting guidance from planners about changing use of holiday cottage they are still marketing the house and will state that there's already an offer on the table to interested people. Had Mum here this weekend, she says just go for it and put the offer in formally, , and instruct solicitors whilst you wait for planners, so that it will be off the market. dad's coming tomorrow to try and convince us not to buy it, but disguising the visit as bringing Tristan's Birthday presents.

After school Ethan is fit for nothing, he's so tired.

Jealous about ski trip, we were going to go up to Scotland this week but Nigel's Uncle is in intensive care and doesn't look good so we're off to Sunny Scunthorpe to see him and support mil for a couple of days. Also Tristan's 11th Birthday on Wednesday.Next month stefan will be a teenager - aargh!

DTisMYdoctor · 17/02/2013 13:33

It made me chuckle to read that your mum's egging you on Deb before your dad arrives to talk you out of it!

Sorry to hear about N's uncle.

DomesticCEO · 18/02/2013 18:36

How exciting Deb!

Why would your dad not want you to buy it? Confused

DomesticCEO · 20/02/2013 17:01

LaGuerta · 21/02/2013 11:58

Hello

I cant believe Tristan is going to be 11. When I met him he was 7 I think (and Lego mad). Hope things are ok in Scunthorpe. Exciting too about the house. Fingers crosses for good news from the planners.

Half term here is going well. Been seeing various people and enjoying the weather at the start of the week, although now it is burrrr.

The kitchen units are in. It looks great. Hiccups include just one drawer being fitted in the factory with a different handle, and the appliance retailer going into administration when they owe us an oven that we paid for. Luckily we got all the other appliances delivered from them 10 days ago. It looks as though Visa will refund us, so hopefully not a complete disaster.

I have bitten the bullet and invited my "friend" over this afternoon. I have realised that its too small a place to just drop someone and I definitely owe her a playdate. As mentioned she is v hospitable. Let's hope everyone is well behaved. Wink

DTisMYdoctor · 21/02/2013 20:02

Urghh. I have the lurgy. Took today off work which is making me feel quite stressful as I was already stressfully busy before today. Gah.

Glad you already have most of the appliances LaG! We always pay for big purchases by credit card for extra protection. Will you treat us to some in progress pictures on fb? How did you get on with the complaint?

Oh, and how did the playdate go?

Despite the lurgy, I have booked hotels today for a very glamorous wedding abroad later in the year. Leaving DS at home. Very excited!!!

LaGuerta · 22/02/2013 07:22

Sorry you are poorly. How are you feeling this morning?

Yay for the glamourous hotels. We are currently all out of friends who might get married. Our nights away at the North of Scotland wedding last winter were fab though. V "Four Weddings". Smile

The outcome of the unit complaint was that the doors were right all along. Blush at least though we put our minds at rest. Picture on FB coming up.

DomesticCEO · 22/02/2013 07:39

Hope you're feeling better today DT x

Your kitchen looks amazing LG - unrecognisable as the same space you had before with that tatty old kitchen! Very Envy!

Look forward to seeing it later Smile.

DTisMYdoctor · 22/02/2013 11:07

Thanks both. Bit better today but still feeling a bit 'urrgghhh'.

Kitchen looks fab La G!

DTisMYdoctor · 24/02/2013 08:59

The wedding later in the year is the last one for us I think LaG. The ceremony was a Bond location, so going out on a glamorous high! We have another wedding earlier in the month too, but unless people start getting divorced we're pretty much done! Couple of possibilities in the future, but certainly nothing on the horizon.

Have woken to heavy snow this morning!

DTisMYdoctor · 24/02/2013 09:40

is not was a glamorous location!
