o.k. I'm bored at work so thought I'll start another threat trying to organise gettogethers :)

With or without kids... I'm game

The latest Ealing thread was considering a zoo visit of some sort when it gets a bit warmer... and now it's gone and gotten colder!

April 6 should work for me if that's still coming together. I'm overdue for meeting people around here.

Hi Cozz and trying2bgood! I look forward to meeting Acton mummies and other non-yummy mummies! (and I was 37 when ds was born)

I hope I haven't been too rude. But am glad I'm not the only person swearing around here. Grin

Thanks for the welch's grape jelly link uwila! LOL. And yeah, too bad imported stuff is so bloody expensive (on either side of the pond! e.g. here it's nice to pay something reasonable for Walker's scottish shortbread cookies). Admittedly the Kraft Macaroni & Cheese is the "family size" box, but for £4.55 you should be able to get a @#$%! pallet of it.
I could bring back a box of Nilla wafers....
(but I already brought with me a couple packets of pork chop Shake 'n' Bake Smile)

I wondered why anyone was concerned about the expiry date on the discounted Oreos. I didn't know Oreos had an expiry date. Smile

Cozz · 14/03/2006 18:36

I'm in West Ealing so pretty much straight down the Uxbridge road.

MrsBigD · 14/03/2006 19:19

YUT nearly neighbours then :) I'm a W13 and that's not my dress size LOL oh and swear all you like dear I don't think the ladies on this particular thread are too much stiff upper lip Grin

Though I seem to be missing something... Kraft ... I thought that was a German thing not a American thing Grin

Oh, and for anyone who doesn't already know this. All Americans know where all of their ancestors come from. Mine are English and Scottish. They went to America in protest of the Establishment. Don't think any were actually on the Mayflower, but they weren't far behind. I can trace my roots on my mothers side to the American side of the revolution 17 times. I'm sure they are all rather disgusted with me for moving back (and joining the church). Grin

Yank, bring some back for me? Are you going to the states sometime soon?

Boopert · 15/03/2006 12:33

Does it count that im actually HA4 but lived in w7 for 28 years?
Does this mean i'll be kicked out of the gang?? Sad

Uwila · 15/03/2006 12:43

Of course not Boo. I'm a TW16er myself.

So, are we on then for 06 April 7:00 or 7:30 at Old Orleans. MrsLittleD, would you be so kind as to amend the reservation? (Since it is all your fault we can no longer meet on 23 March)

Boopert · 15/03/2006 12:45

Excellent.

And 6th April is fine with me. If i can fit thru the door by that point of course. Imagine a house with huge big boobs and thats how i look! Grin

Uwila · 15/03/2006 12:50

MrsBigD, can you check to see if they have french doors at the entrance? Or maybe Boo could go round back for the service entrance?

Grin
Boopert · 15/03/2006 12:53

LOL!

Thinking about it they do have double doors. May need a bit of grease either side to squeeze me in, oh and make sure they have enough food for one monster muncher!!!

Maybe a cow, two horses and a pen full of chickens should do. Followed by three or four cheescakes! Grin

MrsRecycle · 15/03/2006 13:05

I'm okay for the 6th as well though will have to curb my eating as am having a scan the following day and want them to see the baby through my flab.

Boopert - I live in HA4 - so we are neighbours as well. I used to live in W7 and W13 - I think HA tends to be a natural migration path for ex-ealingites.

Boopert · 15/03/2006 13:07

Oh ok. What part? Manor, North, South or west?

Seems to be. A lot of our friends have moved there from W7. Says a lot for W7....lol!

MrsRecycle · 15/03/2006 13:10

The gardens - what part are you?

Boopert · 15/03/2006 13:15

Oh, forgot that.... Manor. Moved in beg of Jan and love it.

MrsRecycle · 15/03/2006 13:25

Oh walking distance - excellent. We must meet up - I can tell you the best places to go/schools/etc. I've been here for nearly 5 years and love it. My dds go to a school which is walking distance away, we have a river and fields at the back of our house and can get to Oxford Circus in 40 minutes. In fact my friend used to live in London and moved out to a house on our street and loves it here as well.

If you want a lift on the 6th - or fancy meeting up before then let me know.

Boopert · 15/03/2006 13:28

Ok. So i'm guessing you live on the right hand side past Ruislip Gdn Station? We live just off Torrington so not too far at all.
How old are your dds? My ds is 3 and we've put him down for Sacred Heart. Not my choice but MIL is a Catholic and wants us to bring ds up the same. Obviously i dont get a choice! I'm happy with any school as long as its good.....

MrsRecycle · 15/03/2006 13:31

Sorry Yanks - didn't mean to ignore you! Mind you, you did call me Grandma so maybe I have every right to! My old Canadian AuPair used to bang on about Kraft and a few months ago I had a cupboard full of the stuff. If I known you lot were so desparate I would have auctioned them off (and blame dh for eating them!).

Uwila · 15/03/2006 13:38

Shock Did you just call me "desparate"?

Well I never!!!

MrsRecycle · 15/03/2006 13:41

That's right Boo - coming from the High Street, just under the bridge, just before the station. My friend lives in Torrington - can't remember what number - you may be neighbours. She has a girl the same age as mine - 8 and a younger daughter. My other dd is 5.

I looked at all the schools in the area before we moved and Sacred Heart was on our short list, along with a private one, St Helens (in Hillingdon). However, when I compared them all along with the Gardens, I was impressed most by the Gardens. My choice has been proved right in that, as it's under-subscribed, my dds class sizes are really small. DD1's size has averaged 20 over the 4 years she's been there and dd2's is currently 16 (something only St Helen's could match). Also I found the ofsted report on Sacred Heart said that there was no curriculum administrator and subjects were being repeated frequently. The only thing that the Gardens failed on was the IT aspect but as I'm in IT, I had no problem with that. Mind you this was 5 years ago so things have probably changed since then.

trying2bgood · 15/03/2006 13:42

old orleans - is that the one in ealing broadway near walpole park?
